Marty Schottenheimer always liked him, which is why he drafted him. And when Schottenheimer left, he impressed a new staff. And when they left, Antonio Pierce was forced to prove himself to another new staff.

Antonio Pierce has survived 3 coaching changes and is still part of our Beloved Team . . . read and find out how and why. . . :)

Q: How close did you come to going to Minnesota?
A: It was real close. I came up and talked to the coaches. I felt like I needed to give the Redskins the first opportunity to know about it. They gave me the first opportunity when I came out of college. The coaches gave me reassurance as far as staying here. I didn't really want to go to Minnesota. I wanted to stay in Washington.

Q: Why not at least sign the Vikings' offer sheet?
A: Because the offer sheet would not have been able to be matched the way Minnesota set it up. If I did sign it, I wouldn't have been a Redskin at all. So I wanted to talk to them first before I signed it.

thanks NamVet.

refreshing attitude. i hope his loyalty is rewarded.

pierce was undrafted, but i like him too. and it's great to read that he wanted to stay as a redskin, even though the money was greater in minnesota. these are the kind of players that you want on your team. not only are they skilled enough, but they want to be there. im glad we didnt get rid of him last year when he had those troubles at the end of the year.

I'm really starting to like him....It's cool becuase through out the whole thing he gives this vibe like he respects barrow and knows he will be the starter, but he also will step up and play if given any oppurtunity

That right there is incredible, I want nothing more than for this guy to be the new fan favorite, I hope he kicks ass this year because with Barrow's knee he will certainly get his chance.

I think this guy could become a fan hero, IMHO. An undrafted who is working his way to a playing spot. Perhaps he could replace the Rock as a guy trying to make good................... Barrows may not be playing on a regualr basis (?) this season, so Pierce may get the call.

I like his attitude and hard work.

Pierce i really think is one fo those guys that Gibbs was talking about that should have had elevated playing time. I think, even without Barrow's injury, that Pierce will see alot of action and do well here. He is aggressive, fast, and plays hard.

i dunno bout that, cause if he was we woulda signed him to a higher offer sheet where we would have gotten some compensation for him, and we wouldnt have signed washington. but i think he is a valuable piece to our defense, and great depth.
