Yeah Statham will go through some struggles like he did the first game. Of course I didn't see it (because it wasn't televised!) but I read that he looked like a very rusty QB last game. We'll see.

What year is davis in? Sophmore? He is an unbelievable football player, and will be their best offeensive weapon by next year.

Yeah he's a sophmore. My new favorite is Shawne Merrimann. He kind of reminds me of LaVar by the way he looks and plays. He's a DE but plays off the line.

For a young team, I saw a lot of good things (and bad) from the Terps Saturday (ummm Monday night). One more week to tune the 2004 squad - then it gets a little tougher.

ALways takes a couple games to get going in terms of the umd offense under friedgen, but now that they seem to have worked out some of the problems, they are ready for the rest of the acc. They were very fortunate to get fsu and vatech later in the season. Vatech will be in the middle of their anual november collapse, and maryland has the talent to play with fsu this year.

Because we're still building our program. If Ralph stays and we're consistant like we have been, we'll start to move up the poll and recruit those blue chippers. We're already doing a good job recruiting as it is.

I'm going there next semester. I'm still stuck at community college. I think we're doing a damn good job considering where we were before Ralph came to town. We're a feared team, but we're still fighting for respect.

As much as I love my team. I think WVU is probably going to win this game. They are playing at home and Stratham has been struggling with his nerves. Unless our team comes out and puts up some points quickly I'm not sure if were going to be able to come back from behind.

MD has dominated WVA for sometime now and this game will much closers than years pass BUT if they let the Terps score first and often, I don't think they'll come out on top - Still see a close game that could go either way!

Terps lose a heartbreaker to West Virginia in OT 16-13. Very sloppily played game, but WV kept giving Maryland chances to win it, but we couldn't pull it out. We're ranked #19 as of now, we'll see where we are next week.

WV is worse than I thought though. Your right, they gave MD the game and we still couldn't win it. They didn't deserve to. Statham played horribly in the first half and couldn't make it up in the second half. We do have a LONG ways to go.

It depends on how the other top 25 does, from 20th down to the 25th position. I wouldn't be surprised if the Terps fall one or two spots. I'd be very surprised if they fell out of the top 25.

Tough game for us MD fans and we drop in the polls a couple while WVA moved up. ? about that but as big Ralph put it - that was the 8th ranked team in the nation and to lose to them in overtime at their house, MD must be right up their.

Now onto Duke and to get back on track.

skinsfan44

We won today's game against Duke right?

Yes we did, but RB is right.

We need a new/better QB.

Terps QB Joel Statham had 3 interceptions and 3 fumbles in our 55-21 whipping of Duke yesterday.

Statham has had 7 int's and 8 fumbles in 4 games. :banghead:

That kind of play lost us the game against a good WVU team, but we won against Duke, well because it was Duke.

If he is still turning the ball over against teams like Florida St, or VT, the Terps will lose.

I hope they get this problem taken care of ASAP, or it will kill our season.

Thats a good point. Might as well keep him in there because there is no one else that could do much better. But Statham NEEDS to get his game together and HOLD ON TO THE FOOTBALL! Geez, he can't do that to save his life.

putting steffy in is quitting on the season. that 1 loss wont kill us. we still have a shot at the ACC title. friedgen runs an extremely complicated offense, so steffy is nowhere near ready to play. statham is our best shot at winning. no use taking out 1 inexperienced qb for another.

What the hell kinda performance was that?!?! We lost to GA Tech... At home?!?! Now I really don't feel safe with Statham at all. I know that Steffy played basically the whole second half, but Statham did absolutely nothing. At least Steffy stopped the "3 and out streak" that we had going there. I think it was like 8 in a row.

UMD needs to find its offense and quick, because its not going to be easy going against a stifling NC State defense then facing Clemson, FSU, at UVA, at VT, and Wake Forest.

Not exactly a creampuff schedule.

I think Friedgen made a lot of mistakes today in the game against the woofpack.

Going for the first down on 4th down deep on their end of the field....and why in the hell did he kick the field goal after the botched punt my state? A fieldgoal didn't do a bit of good. Maryland still needed two more scoring drives. Something they hadn't had all night. And finally, punting the ball back to state with 1 minute and 40 seconds left in the game. why not go for it there when he went for it earlier in the game?

Some questionable calls if you ask me.

And I was really pulling for you guys too....

Didnt want to get shutout for recruiting purposes. It will be hard to make a bowl game now.

If thats true suppitty, its even more crazy. he should be more worried about winning the game instead of getting shutout.

I don't think recruites look at a shutout and then say that they don't want to go to Maryland. If they do, I wouldn't want that type of kid on my team....

I was at the game with Shaggy and it was great. We both were yelling so much that I may not have a voice for tomorrow. I'll find a way to have one though.

I don't see UMD being ranked in the top 25 this season. They would have to beat both Virginia and Virginia Tech on the road, and I don't see that happening. They might move into the others receiving votes section and might get a bowl game if they split the Virginia games and beat Wake Forest.

Pretty darn good last I checked. To be honest UMD is my favorite good basketball program (VT obviously being my favorite, even if they won't be very competitive this year).

I'm not trying to be a downer on UMD, I was just pointing out that they had an uphill battle if they wanted to be ranked at the end of the season. I like UMD and would wish them a winning season and a top 25 ranking if my team wasn't one of the teams in their way.

I'm pretty proud of the ol' alma mater today. Great win. Biggest non-Bowl victory for the Fridge and most surprising Terp victory I can recall. The rest of the schedule isn't easy, but if the Terps can beat FLA State then nobody else they have to play should intimidate them.
