Not sure how Hall gets the nod over Tupa. Hall missed a 50 yarder, and barely made the field goal at the end of the game. Tupa had a few very, very significant punts when the 'skins were backed up in their own territory.

POTG was Portis' run. Another no-brainer. Pierce's INT was big, not the biggest play.

You mean the Bucs were backed up in their own territory.

OMVP-Rod Gardner: Kept some drives going early.
DMVP-Washington: Would have gone for bowen, but he got beat a couple times.
ST-Hall: Nobody else stood out.
POTG: Pierce int: Turned the game around.
and my new category:
Would have blamed a loss on: not challenging the spot of brunell on the 2.

I only agree with the last thing you said... They seriously should've challenged that. I have mad love for Rod Gardner. I probably like him the most out of everyone on the site, but even I think that there is no way he deserves the offensive player of the game award. Either the o-line or Portis should get it, but not Gardner. And the DMVP is Marcus Washington??? Matt Bowen and Antonio Pierce did way more than him.

OMVP--Portis and the offensive line go hand in hand with this one.
DMVP--Bowen had a tremendous day.
ST--Tupa had some excellent punts.
POTG--Portis' 64 yard run.

On offense, is there any doubt? Clint all the way! And some of those he realy had to earn! 2nd place on offense goes to all involved on the line! That includes rookie Cooley and the blocks of Rat and Sellers! On D, Bowen played great! Even if we lost, he easily was MVP of the defense! The kid gave blood today! 2nd place D-wise imho was Smoot! Looked sharp, and into it! On S.T.s I give Tupa the nod over Hall, the one late fg looked very shaky! POTG in my mind is the sudden, and TOTALY UNEXPECTED pressure by Haley that lead to the Pierce intercept! I know, I know you're thinking this guy is nuts! :) But hear me out between laughs! No body expected that Rhino like charge!!!!! :) No one, not you, not me, and certainly not either Brad or the Bucs!!! That was the play of the game! The case for Clints td is over shadowed by the score at the time! The Pierce intercept never happens if Haley does not come out of nowhere!!! Said months ago I expected Williams to get these guys to make plays,,With the game on the line! Great job by Haley on the play! ps I've long dogged Haley being a wimp with his hurt thumb last year.

Offense MVP: Chris Samuels, I've been more critical of him then anyone and today he stepped up and handled Simeon Rice.

Defensive MVP: Matt Bowen, 2 sacks a FF and great coverage on ST

Special Teams: Again Matt Bowen, he just made great plays in coverage and just seemed to be all over the place.

Play of the Game: Cornelius Griffen leveling Brad Johnson and forcing him to float the pass that was picked off by Pierce. Griffen got great pressure.

The DirtBags had a great day - have to go with them.
Matt Bowen was outstanding and led the team in tackles.
Hall had the best day on special teams.
Portis 64 yard run (when's the last time we've seen that) - amazing.

Agreed with all except Player on Defense. I agree that Pierce gets the Play fo the Game, but the Defensive Player fo the game has to be Matt Bowen. Not just two sacks, but several jarring hits from this guy. Being in his natural position is going to make him very good.

Offense was less than overwhelming but the QB protection was excellent. Portis is simply amazing making something out of nothing more times in a single game than I have come to expect in a single season. Gardner ... I think we should stand up for him ... he's taken a lot of abuse for being 50-50 and slipping or never really being that good etc. Gardner had the most unexpectedly good game on offense ... but only because Portis was expected to be world class. The O-line played well but I think they need to make more space for the RBs before anyone gets too excited. Just to make sure he gets a vote I'm going with Gardner (but Portis probably deserves it more).

I think it would be wrong to single out anyone on defense since they all were overwhelmingly good as a unit. I do think that Smoot, Pierce, Bowen and all of the D-Line put in performances that were far far better than anyone would have expected possible (except some Redskin fans). Washington and Arrington were both excellent but that was expected ... One thing just hit me ... I don't recall hearing Springs name ... and frankly for a DB that indicates something special also.

Special Team return coverage .... well frankly it sucked most of the time. Tupa played like a guy half his age .. which is about appropriate. Hall just missed a 50 yarder, not going to worry unless it becomes a trend. Punting team gave up too much and let a few too many rushers get close to Tupa. KO Team ... well if I knew the answer ... I'd be coaching ... but I do know they need to be much better. Special Teams on the whole need to improve to be good, but I do think the FG team was exceptional. I guess I would say Tupa who's consistent good punting helped not lose the battle of field position and kept TB from FG opportunities (which would have made the difference in this game of dominating defenses).

Play of the game ... Portis going freestyle and cutting back for the 60+ yard TD run. This over Portis making the first down run to set up the final field goal, Bowen sacking Johnson to kill the TB last gasp, Pierce picking Johnson, the double end sack of Johnson and probably a dozen other candidates.

O- Portis. Had an X on his back after the big one and still was very effective, especially on the last drive.

D- Pierce. Because of the timely INT.

ST- Tupa. Helped tremendously in the FieldPosition battle.

Play- Definitely the Portis run. Talk about setting the tone, or at least, displaying what our new possibilities are. Too bad we couldn't capitalize later through the air.

I always like picking out players who aren't getting as much recognition. Nobody mentioned gardenr, and i was really impressed by him, and i just went with washington because he played a very good game, and wasn't noticed.

I think Matt Bowen gets the Defensive MVP because, he has to time himself to overcome Johnson's quick release (he does this twice!), He also forces a fumble, he assist in stopping Alstott on a huge 2nd or 3rd down play, with Springs and Pierce, and then to boot, he stuffs them on Special Teams.

Portis hands down on Offense, but an argument should be made for the O-Line, no doubt!

Special Teams would have to be Hall/Tupa - he overcomes his miss, and he tackles too! (how did I forget Tupa??) anyway he's a diamond on the special teams period!

Play of the game was a tie between Portis' 64 yard burst and Matt Bowen's sack/fumble of Johnson.
