Good: Rod Gardner, Clinton Portis(he needs to get more touches as a reciever), Sean Taylor(at times-he had some great coverages), Tupa, Thrash, Brunell(at times)
Bad: Play calling, Brunell(at Times), Coles' drops, stupid penalties, pass protection, Timeouts(but I dont think, even if we had saved them, it would have made a difference)
Ugly: the refs: when the announcers are talking about how bad the calls are, you know they suck.
this team is still finding their identity, they will not lose this kind of game in five weeks. I think Madden is right, this team needs a year to get on the same page.

You can add #25 to ugly as well. Clark I believe.
He got burned by andersen on that 3rd down catch and again on the halfback pass. Once Bowen went out u could see the coverage suffer.

Good: Our offense finally got going in both the running and passing game. Our defense played well once again, just got scored on easily. We are getting better and better every week...
Bad: Clock Management and I hate to sound like a whiner, but the officials.

That play where clark got burned was a strange play. Smoot dropped the coverage to cover a guy who was already covered, so i dont think you can blame (completely) on Clark.

I think he (JG) was a bit woozy or something for a few. I also belive he felt a ton of bricks come off his shoulder in this one. He has to be peeved at the officiating, but he will be so much better from this game. He knows it.
The offense has found itself and will only get better now. The WR's are picking up the pace and competition level is once again higher among the players, when given opportunities. The team has shown punch.
The UGLY to me was the 3rd down call at the 1, just before the half and the burned out timeout, unnecessary challenge and the poor officiating.

i agree -- Portis needs MORE touched as a reciever (I put him at WR in Madden 2004 and he is UNSTOPPABLE - try it)
Portis also need to run the "strech" play at the goal line - he was unstoppable at Denver with this play even when teams new that's what was coming - it allows him to pick his hole then with he's speed....TD
I do trust Gibbs -- if this offense catches up with the defense we will make some noise this year...

The Good: Brunell (at timesm esp. the 4th q.), Gardner (He DEFINATELY stepped it up this week, I am proud of him, way to make the majority of us eat our words.), Tupa (he did very well with punting, though we saw a little bit too much of him), Defense (despite playing a little soft in the end, i think we did very well over all) Portis (doing it with running and recieving)
The Bad: Coles (Mark hit him in the chest and he still couldn't come up with it, hopefully when he got hit something clicked) Time Management (so many times we just let the seconds tick away) Timeouts (true it may not have made a difference, but i would have liked to have given Hall a chance to get the field goal... though my nerves would have been shot in overtime) Penalties at the wrong time
The Ugly: the Refs. :banghead: you can't help it. I was SCREAMING (to the point where my roommate woke up and yelled, but she needs to understand!) at the television. If in the highlights of the game you show the 2 plays that could have turned the game around and you have madden talking about the bad calls... you know its bad. :sfight:
We need to come out firing from the beginning of the game, not just in the 4th quarter (which i think is the best we've played all season, minus getting burned on the last TD). They had all of us believing, i just wish garnder could have gotten out of bounds (i don't think i've said so many prayers as i did in the last 4 minutes of that game) Portis is a WEAPON, we need to utilize him more. He was great as a reciever, and I think we need to explore that route more often. We didn't pressure Testy as much as we could, i have to hand it to the dallas o-line for that. I'm not giving up yet, and after a day (maybe two) of recouping (because for the next 2 days, I will be hearing it from everybody around here) I will be ready for next week.
Night all, and as always, hail to the redskins.

GOOD: gardner. throw tough passes at him EVERY time and he will be the next jerry rice. brunell in the second half.
BAD: time management. not getting portis the ball on each drive. offensive line not opening enough holes for portis and not protecting mark at times. playcalling....
UGLY: the officiating was horrible. 14 point swing in their favor.

Good - Brunell developing some chemistry with at least one receiver. Run defense, complete 180 from last season, DTs playing extremely well. Coverage teams improving. Smoot had one bad play on the ball (although he was in excellent coverage), but otherwise had a stellar game against some really good WRs. Springs also had a good game, the majority of the breakdowns in the secondary were from the reserve safeties.
Bad - The officiating of course. The O-line never recovered after the failed goaline showdown. LC won't stay on this bad list for long, but he is definitely here for now. Not enough touches for Portis - a couple of screen plays would have been nice.
Ugly - All of the assistant coaches constantly huddling around Coach Gibbs and talking to him at the same time. I know Coach Gibbs values their opinion, but there isn't enough time for a conference between every play.

The Good: Tupa, RG, and the 12th man.
The Bad: Losing
The Ugly: The dallas fan who sat in front of me.

Good: Brunell, Gardner (when did he decide to play?), COOLEY, Defense
Bad: Coles (did somebody play a stonehands Madden card on him in the first half?), Morton, Timeouts
Ugly: Officiating. Seriously, you can't blame the entire loss on them, but wow.
/1st post, been a reader all season.

good: brunell/gardner duo, portis' hustle, run defense

The Good: Portis (he could have gotten 100+ yards if we didn't abandon the run,) Gardner, 4th quarter Brunell, Cooley, the defense, Gregg Williams, THE 12TH MAN.
The Bad: The only bad part of our defense: no turnovers. Coles, Gibbs' timeout management, end-zone Portis (different than the other Portis.)
The Ugly: The Refs.

Great job akhhorus.
I only disagree in one thing. I do think the timeouts could have made a difference.

skinswin'emALL, is that like an end-around? Is there something special about the blocking?

You're welcome.
Im glad that I make you crazy 9 times out of 10. My gf would completely agree with you on that point. And maybe you should be listening to me more often... :Pickle:
People, you need to realize that this is a team for next year, only Smoot is a major UFA on this team and Walt Harris can probably fill in for him. Also keep this in mind: Gibbs doesnt know how to fully use Portis to maximize his talents, and he still had 140 total yards. Just wait until they tailor the offense to him. You'll be seeing him get 140 rushing and 80 receiving yards a game.

I think you are right about "next year", but I would be a little more concerned than you appear to be about losing CB's the caliber of Bailey and Smoot in consecutive years. Those guys do not grow on trees, and it is one position where you either have it or you don't, and poor play will be exposed.
Regarding Portis; anyone even considering that he might be a real good back, but maybe Denver's scheme, which seemed to produce a string of "great backs" over the years may be the biggest reason for his success?

THE GOOD: Rod Gardner (check the stats)
THE BAD: Using all our timeouts when they weren't needed
THE UGLY: Gotta be the officiating. A ton of calls that were bad and changed the game completely.
