I don't know how many Wizards fans or even Basketball fans are on this board but with all the Jason Kidd rumors I was thinking that The Wizards could concievably enter into the hunt.
Its clear that the Nets are looking to massively cut pay roll with trading K-Mart and now flirting with the idea of dealing Kidd. I think Jason would like to come back to play with Eddie Jordan who he loved in NJ. So I think Kidd would be open to coming to the Wiz despite their record. So now is the question what could we give up for Kidd???
The Nets biggest holes are currently at PF and SG. They are going to want players who can produce but also are nearing the end of their current deal. Larry Hughes certainly fits that bill, he could play SG fit into their offense and is in the last year of his current deal. Dealing Hughes would also allow us to try and move Areanas over to SG which seems to be a much more natural position for his score first mentality. I would suggest dealing Areanas but his contract is too bad for the Nets to consider taking. After Hughes why not add in Kwame Brown to the deal??? Although this could POSSIBLY be his breakout year, we just gave Etan Thomas a large contract so the likelyness of us resigning Kwame after this year is slim. Kwame Brown could immediatly step in and start for the Nets and he still has a lot of upside. This would then allow us to put in Thomas at the PF spot in order to justify his contract and give us a more physical presence inside.
Now I know Kwame and Hughes wouldn't be enough to nab Kidd so we would probably have to throw in a shooter such as Dixon who is a good spot up shooter which the Nets also need cuz they lost Lucious Harris. Add in a future 1st round pick and I think we could make a deal for Kidd. By adding Kidd to the mix I think the Wiz could concievably be in prime playoff position and just under the top teams such as Detriot, Miami, and Indiana.
A starting lineup of:
C- Haywood
PF- Thomas
SF- Jamison
SG- Areanas
PG- Kidd
would certainly be dangerous and would be the perfect fastbreak team to fit Jordan's coaching style.
I know I'm probably dreaming but here is the final deal:
Nets get:
Kwame Brown, Larry Hughes, Juan Dixon, & 1st Round Pick
(All guys in the last year of there deals likely not to be resigned)
Wizards get:
Jason Kidd
Any thoughts???

That sounds like a good deal on paper, but I don't think Kidd will accept that (he has a no-trade type clause doesn't he?). He wants wants to win a champoinship, and win one NOW. He's not getting any younger, and his legs' aren't getting any healthier. I like the sound of our lineup with Kidd in it, and I'll go to see a couple of games if he comes here, but I don't think he'll go for it.

If the Nets did this trade, there would be rioting in New Jersey. They dont get anything from the deal. They wouldnt do the deal unless Arenas was involved, and the Wiz shouldnt trade for a 35 year old player who will miss the beginning of the season with a knee injury.

They took 3 first rounders for K-Mart, They are looking to slash payroll with the new owner. I think they would take this deal for Kidd. Now if the salaries and luxery tax figures in I don't know.

I think this would be a stupid trade on the part of the Wizards.
I believe Kwame Brown has turned the corner and is about to take that next step. That being the case, it would be foolish to trade him for a 30 something point guard with a bad knee. You don't trade young big men for old small men...it's pretty simple.

I'm torn on the idea since I want to see Kwame do well here vs. let him leave and become a superstar. But on the other hand I think Kidd could be the missing piece for this team. It does sound like a lot to give up.

He's the missing piece alright. But he could just take us to the playoffs (barely) and then that's it. Kwame will help in the long run. If you watched a lot of the Wiz's games, then you would've seen the HUGE improvement in the team. And I highly doubt the the Wizards are gonna let another guy "full-of-potential-but-seems-to-be-a-bust-so-let's-just-trade-him-and-watch-him-become-a-superstar-on-a-different-team" type player go to waste.

The trade could not work because New Jersey would ask for so much the wizards would only have 3 players left and the mascot.
Kidd would be going from bad to worse...

I like having Arenas hughes and jamison...I think they all might have played with each other at some point since hughes used to play for Golden state. Eather way Hughes did very well last year and Jamison played off the bench. We have good depth with blake, dixon and etan thomas. Let Kidd go somewere like San antonio or LA...

But we're still missing something I think. We just need Kwame to break out. But when he does, I still won't be feeling to comfortable with the Wiz's. I dunno why, I just feel uncomfortable with the line up right now.

I feel yuh are big men are waaaayyyy to inconsistent. If we had someone like kmart who can get alot of rebounds and score consistently, we're pretty good. I like etan thomas...but hes a pure defensive guy. Kwame will do very well this season, he hit the boards and stepped it up last year.

But he still isn't as good as everyone expected. But that's what you get when you get HS players....... Most of the time

Yea it really worked well for Golden State
Blake is out for the first month and Dixon isn't even expected to make the team. Hughes is in the last year of his contract and I highly doubt he'll be back.

forget kidd. i'd like us to be able to build with arenas, dixon, and blake playing guard. i wanted the wiz to get involved with the shaq trade(#5 pick, kwame brown, whatever). i dont really like pro basketball though.

Wizards dont need a trade right now. Kwame will get at least 15 and 8 this season, and i wouldnt be all that surprised if he average close to 18 and 10. Gilbert will score 20+ a game, and if he doesnt have horrible mental lapses every game, he could be an allstar. Hughes will be a good slasher, and pesky defender as usual. Jamison should have similar numbers to the ones he had in gs. ands i dont have a clue whether it will be haywood or etan at center. In thsi division the wiz should be able to win 35 games, if not more.
