Redskins MVP.........Hall?????????????????????
My vote would go to Gregg Williams. Our strength was supposed to be our offense and the defense was going to be bad....remember....no run defense....no pass rush....no shut down corner.
The D is the only reason we have been in every game this year.....no thanks to the offense.

This is also against the TB, NYG, Dal and Cle offensive units. The jury has to still be out on just how good the defense is. Although we would be getting pummeled each game without their efforts.

Comparatively, someone who said Tiki Barber was at the "bottom of the barrel" in terms of runningbacks in another thread, well, he's having a better day than our stud.
15 rushes for 141 yards and a TD.
I hope this is just our line and Portis jelling together and by week 8 we can start rolling, but until then...

But we are losing games because the offense sucks. The defense is one of the best in the league. Brunell, Portis, Gardner and Coles are NOT PRODUCING. THEY are costing us game after game. THAT is why some of us are so ticked at them....and they are not rookies. I can excuse some rookie mistakes. The other four are supposed to be seasoned professional STARS!

Gibbs does need to be held accountable. This team should have been at least 3-1 at this point in the season. Williams defense has delivered in every single game. I think we need to face the fact that they are not an overly talented bunch. Gardner is Ok. Coles is overrated. Brunell is decent, but not great. Offensive line is decent. If they actually practice the same system...that is not a spurrier system for a couple of years they might become a smidgeon above mediocre. Something needs to happen, it just doesnt matter who our coach is if we dont kill ourselves then the refs do it for us. This season will continue like this and what concerns me even more is that Joe may not be so sure about honoring his 5 year contract if /when we finish as cellar dwellers behind less talented teams. The O line doesnt block that well, Portis is a good(not great) back that is obviously not the best option for this O and our Wrs cant hold onto/catch the damn ball. How exactly is this suppose to get better? I love Coles but his toughness is probably costing us more than helping us this year.

No but what Gibbs did do is once again wasted or allowed all the timeouts in this game to be wasted. I said it last week and I said it again. In the third quarter of a close game, take the 5 yard penalty. It's alot less of an obstacle then no timeouts left so no ability to challenge. Now as for the short passes on 3rd. Yes, that's what Gibbs has told Brunell to do. Second, that's what every QB in the league does if there is nothing over. Don't get me wrong, I love Joe Gibbs, but I don't believe he is anywhere close to the top of his game. Nor do I believe he will reach that point by the end of the season. Our major offensive problem is the lack of accurate QB who can throw it deep. Brunell throws it deep but he throws it about a mile in the air. That doesn't help. I think Gibbs needs to shake it up a little. Put Ramsey in. See what he can do in the game. What the hell is it going to hurt?

We just lost to a team quarterbacked by someone that -- by all accounts -- doesn't even know his own offense.
Our offense is pathetic. I didn't like how Brunell played last week and I didn't like how he played this week. I'm sure Ramsey could produce multiple 0-3 drives. The point with Brunell was he was consistent and not mistake-prone.
The drives we did have were dink-and-dunk. We shouldn't be driving like that anyway. Portis came to us with an air of invincibility and now I bet there's not a team out there that fears playing against him.

The fact is Brunell is 1-3 as a starter. We have to give ramsey a chance. Must do something to turn the season around. How many plays of 20 or more yards do we have, not many.

Bulger, Brady and Holcolmb were all unknowns at that point. Ramsey has started, teams know how to scout him and play him. He doesn't have that going for him like the others did. Also he hasn't proven that he would be any sort of upgrade whatsoever.

He's all we have right now. At least we'll stay close. But, as I said, put in Ramsey and it'll be more exciting. And..........I guess we'll get a higher draft pick. O.K. you've won me over.
And our draft pick won't be high with Brunell in the game?!!!

But that was when the starter got injured.... Mark hasn't gotten injured yet. Well only for one half of a game.
So what? There have been times when players have been benched in favor of the second guy in the past and they don't play anymore. Although I can't recall names at the moment.

Yeah, especially the play where he let Brunell dodge him
Lang isn't bad, but he was getting blocked by a tight end sometimes, and he got lucky on the tip.
He's no more of a stud then Ron Warner bull rushing that OT to sack Garcia on the first play of the game, let's be realistic, Lang is no Rucker or Peppers.

What I do know about Ramsey is against the Giants, his turnovers led to ZERO points and he actually moved the offense down the field effectively. Brunell had turnovers that resulted in the Giants scoring and couldn't move the offense AT ALL.

Brunell made a very nice throw to Coles for a 45 yd. gain. He has the arm strength to go along with his accuracy. Brunell is clearly a LOT more accurate than Ramsey. Check the career stats. Go ahead. The question is not whether we should put Ramsey in there (unless you want to guarantee a high draft pick); the question is whether Gibbs is going to actually attack downfield with the ball amongst a bunch of other questions.

When was he given the chance to prove that? One half when he hasn't practiced with the first team? Yea that's real nice.

Even worse than the 1-3 record, is that we simply cannot move the ball with Brunell.

Ok. That's a ridiculous point. He threw away points. We were in chip-shot field goal territory and he threw one of his dumb interceptions. I'd still take Gibbs over this decision-making process of yours any day.

He was involved in a number of run plays and applied very good pressure on Brunell despite the back chipping on him. Lang looks like a top 10 end this season.

Preseason and all of last season when he started

Checking the career stats is useless. Brunell wasn't old and washed up in '97.
Ramsey was a good solid QB last year, who showed us alot of potential.
Redskins management has done their best to squash that promise.

Why are we still talking about the Giants game?
You are right, Ramsey's turnovers didn't lead to any points. Any points by us.
And for the umpteenth time, please stop saying that Brunell didn't move the ball against the Giants. It is so far from the truth, it's bordering on being ridiculous.
