1. Baltimore's QB situation is worse than ours simply because they hav no weapons. Heap and Taylor are out. That will give Greg Williams the ability to be aggressive on run blitzes and stop Jamal Lewis. I see the Ravens only scoring 10 pts and our D will have 2 turnovers, one in the 4th qtr.
2. We will not turn the ball over. Portis will have 105 yards and one TD and the O will control the ball. Cooley will have a TD catch. We will score 17 points. Tupa will pin the Ravens back most of the time and the Redskins will win the field position battle.
It will be a hard fought 17-10 victory for the Redskins.

I'll take 2-0 Skins win. Boller slips and falls out the back of the end zone. But your idea sounds better.

I hate to speculate at this point. I'm gonna be pretty cautious until they show me they know HOW to win. I was sure they would be the Browns and, well, you know...

Lewis breaks our defenses spirit while the offense continues its season long ineptness.
We have no need for the 2 timeouts we actually have left in the 4th.

What's that quote about urine and... corn flakes, is it? Honestly, it's hard to argue that Lewis' legs won't be tired at the end of the game.

Special teams will be what beat us if we lose. Either we will continue to get pinned deep over and over again and eventually make a mistake or we allow big returns and give them the short field.

"why the redskins will win" is a weekly soap opera.
Why the Redskins will win episode 1: B/C Tampa's offense sucks, Tampa's defense sucks w/o Sapp and Lynch.
Why the Redskins will win episode 2: B/C the Giants are in disarray, Coughlin is a meanie and the players don't like him. All they have on defense is Stahan, offensivley all they have is a washed up QB, a RB that fumbles and nothing at offensive line.
Why the Redskins will win episode 3: B/C the Cowboys have struggled against bad teams, their QB is old, they have no RB, Their defensive line is small.
Why the Redskins will win episode 4: B/C the Browns have one of the worst offenses in the league, they are 1-2 overall.

I think Baltimore AND the Skins will focus on not giving up the big play. Both will be run oriented, as the Ravens may believe that the Skins success is against much lesser talent than their own (Lewis compared to Barber, Dayne,Suggs, Dallas backfield, etc.).
Look for them to attempt the run again and again, until we stop it, that way it gives them the chance to help their young QB with timely play action on short routes. Billick will try the option also, since Parcells did it. If it works, he'll do it again and again. Why, he wants to open up his offense. His QB will take more deep shots dowfield, equating any interceptions as long punts and relying on Ray Lewis, Chris McAllister, Ed Reed and Co., to pin the Skins back further to their own end zone. His defense is once again, his best offense.
Flip:
JG is in a SD frame of mind I believe. I think he's going to put the fun back in the ball game, but instead of trying to do it in bunches or after a half time adjustment, he's going to spread it around. Once the offense has his multiple shifts down (they didn't seem to have that much of a problem with it in opening day, leading the coaches, I believe to re-visit this all important tool in this game. Unlike other teams that improvised from multiple shifts, first introduced by both Hank Stram and Tom Landry, Joe Gibbs is a master of it, but his offense is a bit slower than the famed Hogs.
If it isn't this game, I wouldn't be surprised to see Chris Cooley in the role of Otis Wonsley, as just a straight up FB or even a multi carry back for this game. It could warrant it, Cooley has the speed to get outside and can slam between tackles on both carries and blocks (big ones!). I think he is ready to atone for his mistakes and would like more touches in this one. The leaders always step up!
Hint: John Riggins was about 6 -2 1/2 and 250 at times carrying the ball.
Chris Cooley who's faster, taller and about a tad bigger around 260ish, has great ball handling skills and is tough to bring down. :)

you make a very compelling argument with your first point, but your second one is all prediction. im saying this will be a close game, but baltimore pulls it out at the end. special teams and defense will win this game.

Our defense has to be ready for the trick play. With their WRs, they'll have a hard time getting open unless they use trick plays, like they did last week against KC.

The lone scare I have is Jamal pounding our defense. We haven't faced a back of his quality yet so its still an unknown on what we can do aganist a top notch back. Our key is to keep field position in our favor and not allow there defense or special teams to score. Our coverage teams HAVE to be improved if we will win this game, there punt and kick return units are solid. I think this is going to be very tough game. I think we can win it but its going to come down to 1 or 2 big plays that one team will be able to make when it counts. We have to be able to punch it in when we are in the redzone though. An early lead will force them to throw and the turnovers will start coming then.

Heap and Taylor are both playing. so you can scratch that off your list of why we will win. If we win, it'll be because brunell and portis start earning their over-paid salaries.

Exactly. Every week, it seems as though some of us are predicting a Redskins victory.....and yet, we have lost 3 out of 4. The Ravens are a much better team IMO than ANY team that we have played so far. I don't know about this one, but I HOPE we will win.

I seem to detect alot of negativity and skepticism amongst the faithful. I know things have not turned out the way we would have anticipated thus far. But don't allow our past transgressions to sway your belief. We will win this game. We are a better team than the Ravens. Their offense is one dimensional, especially without their receiving TE, and fits perfectly into the defense we have built. Our defense will stop their running attack and they'll be forced to rely upon boller. Their young QB will not read our blitz fakes and throw some picks. He will also miss some blitz pick-ups and take some huge shots. Their defense is not what it used to be. They are very vulnerable up the middle. They have mike nolan as their d coordinator for goodness sake. Don't you remember??? Mr. bend but don't break. In 3rd and 10 play deep and give them anything under 15!
We've made more than our share of mistakes thus far. But ALL the hard work we've put in since the 1st MiniCamp back in March will start showing dividends. We will eliminate the mistakes. Our QB will take some more shots to the open receivers downfield. And believe me we've been getting receivers open in every game.
And last but not least we will be playing in our home field with our 12th man. Where we are reestablishing the greatest home field advantage in pro sports. Remember we are "The best bloody fans on the face of the earth".

Hey ladies and gents... just wanted to throw my .02 cents into the discussion.
The Ravens have three things going for them right now. #1 obviously is convicted felon Ray Lewis. He's a player that can dominated on any given Sunday. Like or dislike him, as football goes he's a player that would enhance any D. #2 is convicted felon Jamal Lewis. If the Ravens get a lead it enables them to pound Jamal up the gut of any opposing D. He's a punishing runner that can wear a D out if he is afforded the opportunity. If the 'skins follow Spence's advice and blitz Boller like it's going out of style, look for Jamal to have some BIG gains on those delayed draw plays. #3.) The Ravens special teams are playing well. We have a rookie named BJ Sams and he's an explosive return man. He took one all the way vs. KC.
As far as Boller goes... he's really not as bad as his stats, and he's not really as good as the hype, imo. I think he's going to be a 10-11 yr QB in the NFL. It's just a matter of everything falling into place with him. Fassel certainly has aided in his developement.

Very true, but that is only if they can manage to get a lead, which should prove to be difficult, unless the D picks up some points on it's own.

Boller will be aided by the vets on offense and have a take what they give you game plan. Billick will choose very high percentage throws for his QB.
Question - Can D linemen out think QB's? Well LT, Deacon Jones, Alan Page, Reggie White, Dexter Manley, Mean Joe Greene, Willie Davis, and Dave Butz are just a few who did it often. It's a dirty little secret. But if you never heard of those names and you have been watching football since the 60's, something is terribly wrong with your picture.
Example: The lane for the RB can also be a lane to the qB, vice versa.
In Willie Davis and Dave Butz case, it was vice versa, as runners simply disappeared in their arms.
Mean Joe Greene, Deacon Jones, Alan Page,LT, Reggie White and Dexter Manley got in a Qb's head and had half the battle won. Just a flinch at the line sent chills up the spine of the QB, because once they got their hands on you, it was over.
Lewis likes to get in your head and have you already exhausted on his "fear factor". The truth was already stated, we have people just as big and as bad as Lewis, he just talks more. People who block for a living can't get caught up in the hype, even if he's a great or HOF player. They have to stand there and take it like a man. Oh, they will dish it out too! :)
