I was at the Temple/ Bowling Green football game last week. The score was 70-16! (Yeah BGU!) I love football, but at the end I just ended up reading Cosmo I was so bored. Bowling Green was gonna have me go in as QB, but the clock expired before I could get in. Next time maybe...

The last update I saw was something like 45-10. Nebraska gave up 70 points?

They may need Tom Osbourne to come back and save them.

Yep. Trev Alberts, Nebraska Alumni, was on ESPN last night bashing UN. He said Callahans offense doesn't and won't work in the Big 12. He stated that programs like Oklahoma and Texas recruit defenses that will be hard to throw on all the time. He stated that Nebraska needs to get a power running back instead of smaller type.

I've never heard Trev talk about Nebraska like that. He normally bashes anyone who disses the CornHuskers. Kinda like Redskin fans do when we have trolls stop by. Not this time though.

It must be tough being a coach in any league, College or Professional...

Not sure if you're being serious or just joking around here. I think Callahan could coach any team, I actually doubt he could do worse in D.C. than the 1-4 record we have now. Just like in any program, when you change decades and decades of philosophy, you experience growing pains. See Oklahoma in the mid-90's under John Blake; they turned out OK in the long run. Seriously though, as for recruiting the Phillips' and Peter's of the world, I couldn't agree with you more. For the last 5 years under Solich we were unable to recruit where we used to dominate: California, Florida, and NJ. Right now we have the 8th best recruiting class for 2005, I think in the long run we're going to be just fine. Axe, you're one of the most knowledgeable and usually on-target guys on this site, I hope you're not a fan of a team that Nebraska took behind the woodshed back in the day and are kicking NU while they're down.

callahan wont be gone after this year, possibly next though if he doesnt show improvement. its not like nebraska is completely rebuilding. i think it was a mistake for them to go with such a different philosophy though, it would sort of be like navy hiring steve spurrier. nebraska is a prestigious school with a strong history of running the ball, and they should have stuck with that when looking for a new coach. it might be tough for them to recruit with oklahoma and texas being so strong.
