Tom Coburn is the snake=wiggling GOP candidate for the Senate in Oklahoma. In case you thought the odious Jim DeMint [R-SC] was the only one obsessed with homosexuals in public schools, you were very wrong. But while Congressman DeMint can't stop thinking about gay teachers, its gay students that have Mr Coburn all hot and bothered. You know, Josh Burkeen is our rep down here in the southeast area. He lives in Colgate and travels out of Atoka. He was telling me lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they’ll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that’s happened to us?"

Another fine example of (some) righties polarizing their very bizarre base with fear and overwhelming stupidity.
They make Senator McCarthy look like a saint...

I always wondered why women always go to the bathroom together. I had no idea this was the reason why.
Man I hope Carson wins. This guy's awful. Carson's probably too conservative for your tastes, Spence .. and I disagree with him on several points .. but that's what it's going to take for a Democrat to win in Oklahoma and he's far better than the alternative. The overall significance of the race is also huge as far as control of the senate goes.

A progressive Democrat is not going to win in Oklahoma so I'll take a conservative Democrat. I notice that Barry Switzer endorsed Carson and that's good news because a lot of Sooners place great value in the word of the old coach.

Surprise, surprise. Turns out Mr Coburn, GOP-mouthbreather for the U.S. Senate in Oklahoma, was wrong about the whole lesbian thing. The Republican Senate candidate in Oklahoma warns of "rampant" lesbianism in some schools in the state in a tape released Monday by his Democratic opponent.
The remark by Republican Tom Coburn drew a skeptical response from state educators.
"I don't believe that," said Keith Ballard, executive director of the Oklahoma State School Boards Association. He said the group's attorneys "haven't said anything to me about that."
In the tape released by the campaign of Brad Carson, the Democratic candidate, Coburn says a campaign worker from Coalgate told him that "lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that's happened to us?"
Joe McCulley, school superintendent in Coalgate, chuckled when asked about Coburn's remark.
"He knows something I don't know. We have not identified anything like that. We have not had to deal with any issues on that subject -- ever," McCulley said.Source (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/news/archive/2004/10/11/politics2023EDT0704.DTL)
Seriously, though: Are there any Republicans here who can explain this weird homosexual obsession so many Republicans have? What's up?

Spence,
Everyone knows that when two hot lesbians want to get together for some hot action during the day they always pick the bathroom. I, mean forget for a second that they are lesbians. Can you imagine ANY two women wanting to engage in sex in a BATHROOM (Basic Instinct fantasies aside)? We are talking about WOMEN here, right (even lesbians)?
I did not listen to the Meet the Press debate because I thought it would have been boring. I should have paid attention. It just goes to show you how different people's experiences may be in the USA in 2004 depending on where you live. I am sure this guy has lots of support and there are lots of people who believe the idea of rampaging, turned-on lesbians in high school (I think Cinemax is showing that movie next week).

These guys are so far to the right that they keep showing up on my left.
Sometimes you gotta laugh to keep from crying.
<freakin lunatics that actually get elected by lunatics>
I wonder if the voting public was aware that their representitives are wasting time on stuff like this....
But then again...these are the same moral majority nut-jobs.
