IF, the Yankees beat the Redsox in the ACLS, I'd love to see Houston win the NLCS. Boy, would Clemmens hear it from the Yankee fans! :D That would be a nice site.

I have followed Houston for 13 years now, so having gotten over that hurdle of first playoff series win, it would be nice to beat the Cards, but one step at a time. It was a big monkey of our back.

Cards still look like the best team in baseball to me. St. Louis is a fantastic baseball town. It's one of the few big cities in America where people still love baseball more than football. [I guess Boston would be the other. A Boston-St. Louis series would put the two most pro-baseball cities in America up against each other. There's a certain romantic appeal to that.]

Despite the success of the Rams, St. Louis a baseball town through and through. I was there several times this summer. They bleed Cardinal baseball. The team is engrained in the culture down there, and in a couple of years, the new stadium will reflect that too.

If y'all want to back a team with heart look at the Astros. Yeah the struggled at the beginning but they knew they had potiental and played hard everygame even though they were below .500 after the all-star break. Their fans believed in them the whole way and look were they are today. Kinda of remains me of another team I love or what could be. Anyway the Astros are the underdogs and they're playing RED HOT right now, so I think they have a good chance against the Cards.

Before the division was decided, the Cards handled the Astros pretty well. The 4 games we lost to them at the end of the season was not indicative of the matchup, as witnessed from last night's game one.

I think the Cards are sitting pretty good for their first fall classic in 22 years.

I don't really care, but I suppose I too would like to see Clemens vs. Yankees and the fan reaction. With that said for the AL I'd prefer the BoSox to win, but that's not looking too good right now.

It appears as if you won't see anything you are hoping for in the WS, which from your post, appears to be BoSox and Astros.

I think you probably will. I was really happy to beat the Braves because of the many playoff dissapointments, and we have avoided getting swept by the best team in the NL. If you win this series I will be rooting for you, and no it is not because I dislike the Yankees, thay are cool as far as I am concerned.

Okay......Game 6 was amazing and Edmonds came up big. I expect to hear from IowaSkin talking about his cards now. I still think the Astros will win game 7 with Clemens pitching against Suppan. The Rocket has the big game experiance and he is on full rest this time. If the Astros make it to the WS I'll probably be able to get tickets for Tuesday's game in Houston. I HAVE to root for the Cardinals. I would anyway, but it is even more important this year. Now that the Red Sox have defeated the Yankees, does anyone really want to listen to a bunch of blow-dried halfwits on TV wondering what it means for the election of Boston squares off against Houston? I know I'd prefer to avoid that nightmare of hideously unfunny jokes at all costs.

i want the 'stros to win. how fitting would it be, red sox face the pitcher that left em years ago cause they couldnt win a world series. that would be the best way for the sox to win, since they cant beat the yankees in the world series. either team that represens the NL though is good enough. im thinking its gonna be a good world series.

Four Major League Baseball fans went rock
climbing:

a Yankee fan, a Red Sox fan, an Astros fan, and a Cardinals fan.

They had been arguing all the way up the mountain about who amongst them loved their team more and was the most "diehard" fan. The argument grew hotter and hotter and the four fans grew more and more agitated.

Such was the emotion that upon reaching the top of the mountain, the Yankee fan proclaimed loudly and earnestly to the other three, "This is for the New York Yankees!" and without a moments hesitation threw himself off the mountain. The supreme sacrifice!

Not to be outdone by a Yankee fan, the Red Sox fan jumped up and cried out, "This is for the Boston Red Sox!" and quickly threw himself off the mountain, also willing to sacrifice himself to prove his devotion to his team. Refusing to be outdone by the Yankee and Red Sox fans, the Astros fan rose to his feet, summoned up every ounce of his courage, and yelled at the top of his lungs!
"This is for the Houston Astros!" and without a moment's hesitation, shoved the Cardinals fan off the mountain.

I am kinda disappointed there was no official game thread for last night. Everyone must have been glued to their TV sets.

So I guess I'll start the discussion.

The Edmonds diving catch was the turning point in that game last night, IMO. If that ball gets down, it's 3-0 with a guy on 2nd and only 1 out. Clemens could have sacrified him to third and who knows what happens then.

Play of the game IMO.

What TexSkin forgot to mention was the rest of the story.

After shoving the Cardinal fan off the mountain, he rested on his laurels, forgetting that the Cardinal fans are resilient and innovative. The Cardinal fan, as he started his descent, quickly grabbed onto an outcropping on the rock face of the mountain. While the Astro fan stood on top of the mountain thinking about how great he/she is and what an accomplishment he/she just pulled off, the Cardinal fan steadily climbed back up the face of the mountain and when he was within and arm's reach of the top, grabbed the ankle of the gloating Astro fan and pulled him off the top of the mountain where he plummeted to his death. The Cardinal fan then finished the climb to the top, where no one thought they would ever reach and exhaled a sigh of satisfaction, complete with a renewed determination to finish the job.
