Virtually everyone I know, including those annoying purists, believes the decision to add a wild card to the MLB playoffs has been a smashing success. Only one owner voted against adding the wild card. He said this:"I made my arguments and went down in flames. History will prove me right. This is an exercise in folly."Who was the dope who said that? Can't you guess? (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/playoffs/2004-10-04-wild-card-cover_x.htm)

Yeah he should've had the foresight to know a .238 hitter would start taking steroids and become one of the biggest farce golden boys of all time.

Yeah, I guess you see it as one of the greatest trades ever for the Rangers.

No, I see it as incredibly good hindsight on your part.

Back to the question, Is this the same guy who forced the citizens of arlington to raise their sales tax to pay for a new stadium or they would move the team away?

I've never said he can do no wrong. That's hero Kerry to you. Acting like that trade was so horrible when it took 5-6 years before Sammy was even worth a salt is pretty good assessment so many years later.

Is it the guy who had family political friends and donors give him 10% of the team for doing absolutely nothing?

Forced?
1991 Arlington voters approve a half-cent sales tax increase to finance up to $135 million of municipal bonds for construction of a new stadium.

So on this Wild Card thing, Bush and Bud Selig disagreed and Bud Selig was the one who was right?!?
Now if that isn't a stinging indictment of Bush, I don't know what is.

i grew up as a fan of this team...could spit on the ballpark from my backyard...and there was never, yes NEVER, a threat of this team leaving...not that anyone ever believed at least, including the players and media

I wish you hadn't pointed this out. I think I'm gonna be sick.
