Well, what about it? Which one would you like to see the NFL use in its games?

Overtime is done much better in college. Overtime shouldn't be decided mostly by a coin toss.

I personally like the sudden death rule that college uses.

Thats what I went with.

The pass interference rule. The call is the most subjective in all of sports. Witness the Dallas game earlier this year. The league needs to look at how hard it is call that penalty correctly and limit the yards associated with it to 15 yards. That will keep teams like the Cowboys from getting gift possessions at the 1 yard line after getting stuffed on 1 and 2nd down.

I would also like to point out that I don't think the college OT rule should be adapted to the NFL. This league's television success was built upon the Colts-Jints OT championship game in 1958. It is that element of finality in our current OT session that makes the OT so important and one of the things that makes the game great.

Other sports I can understand the need for each team to see the ball at least once, becuase you can only score on offense.

But in football, you can score from either side of the ball. That is why I do not support giving each team the ball in scoring position to start and overtime period.

I agree...I hate seeing teams get 3 free shots at the endzone from their 1-yard line.

excellent point robert. You have changed my mind. If I could vote again, it would be for the 15 yard penalty.

I do however realize why the NFL use the spot foul though. If a CB is beat deep, he'll tackle the WR to stop the player from catching the ball....but I do agree with you and dj...

I do think they could make a differentiation on that point CarMike. Holding the WR could be a spot foul, but the Penalty they called on Walt Harris that gave the Boys the ball on the 1 yard line was ludicrous, especially when the WR did all of the pushing.....that is where the 15 yard penalty would be better, IMO. And since our WR play fair ;) we should reap the benefits of this rule change because all the calls would go our way!

the OT rule is fine in college, but i think its stupid for the NFL. i dont really like the sudden death, but the way college does it, i dont think it fits with the NFL. i like their pass itnerference rule though. like the situation with terry glenn/walt harris, i think just 15 yards is better.

I disagree, OT in college is a joke. The concept of allowing both teams a possession is a good one but putting the ball on the 25 yd line is silly. The OTs seem to last forever.

I voted for leaving it just the way it is. I agree with NYJunc, college OT would make the nfl go on for ever. Its such a conservative league that by placing the ball at the 25 or 30 yard line each team would run the ball 3 times and kick a field goal and hope their D could stop them. It would never end.

I said other. The NFL should go back to stopping the clock after a first down in the final 2 minutes of the half. It might have helped the skins this year.

I'd take the college OT rule.

To switch it up, I think the down without contact rule in college may be one of the worse rules in all of sports. Weather conditions alone can hamper your ability to keep your footing without contact.

I chose the OT rules, they need to give both teams a shot. However, don't do it like college - keep special teams in the picture and make them kick off (none of this give it to them on the 25 yard line).

I voted for the 15 yard pass interference. some of those calls are just ridiculous. the OT would be nice too. instead of starting at the 25 I would say start at 40 yard line 60 yards away. that way you have to get at least about 25 yards to get into FG Range.

I think the Sudden Death OT needs to go. Cuz the game usually comes down to a coin toss.

i see OT is the overwhelming favorite, but i am going to ADAMANTLY disagree. i HATE the college rule b/c it eliminates special teams (returns and kick units), and really lessens the defense b/c you give the team the ball in scoring range. i couldn't hate that rule more.

i do think that both teams should be gauranteed a possesion somehow, but thankully the NFL is opposed to the college system for OT.

actually the team that wins the coin toss only wins the game a little more than half the time.

of course you could always be like morningweig (sp?) and defer.

that was my vote! i don't follow college so i don't know the specifics, but that thought is exactly what i had in mind. they could give the offense the ball at the spot of the foul for "personal foul" type calls to prevent burnt d-back from tackling the WR just to prevent a big play.
