So says Theresa "married money" Heinz-Kerry:

Maybe they should put a muzzle on her.

They should put a muzzle on her. I don't think she meant any harm, but she spoke before thinking and that's almost as bad.

10-21-2004, 01:56 PM
Well, I did not see anything particularly evil in her words. I am sure that is a biased statement but she always said there is nothing wrong with Laura or what she has accomplished while she pointed out the differences.

I think the spin was at full speed on the response.

They are definitely different ladies in just about everything....

Serious question for the righties: What did Laura Bush do in her lifetime to have a school named after her? I know she wrote a few books, but so did Anne Coulter. I do not see an Anne Coulter Nazi Academy so what gives?

That is a serious for anyone who wants to take a shot at it

I just noticed that there is a Laura Bush School and I am trying to figure out how that happened except for the fact that she married you know who.

Someone please justify the naming of a school after her.

i am guessing, but they might have donated money to or built the school. also, although i am on the right, i will point out that heinz-kerry gave a pretty thoughtful apology afterwards.

So did my mother...who should have recieved an award for getting my l@zy @ss through school and College...

I am sure there are Thousands who can make that Claim RD, but they get no schools named after them.

Well it is an elementary school so I guess there is no harm in that.

Well they do when they do those things as the first lady of Texas and the first lady of the United States. Is that really that hard to understand?

She did teach at an elementary school for a few years. I wonder if that is the school that is named after her?

Sorry for going off subject but the naming of educational institutions is usually a pretty big deal.

Considering the schools I attended had names like Martin Luther King, William Mckinley and George Washington....Laura Bush kinda fails in comparision.

I am sure there would be rioting in the streets if someone even thought about a Senator Hillary Clinton School. I think she has accomplished more in her life than the 1st Lady.

RedskinsDave

Nice corner you worked into there Jim. Define "accomplished". Before you do though, remember that many of us were raised by our stay-at-home moms. Sorry they chose to raise their kids instead of sending us off to daycare so they could make dirty money deals like some lawyers.

pay attention to the house suspension list when we get back into session. 75% of bills that the house does are renaming hospitals, post offices, schools, federal buildings, etc. The people that get names just happen to have someone in the house or on the school board or whatever the decision making body is that admires them for one reason or another be it because the person's a first lady or because they're a tenured teacher or a veteran or did something simple like cleaned up a graffiti/littered area of town...it really is not that strange a thing.

Where do you come up with this crap RD?

Then as if you are not man enough to stand up on your own two feet you try to insight others into your twisted views. I think if someone were offended or had a different view than me they would speak up for themselves.

If you are going to make a point or disagree....be a man and stand by your point on your own.

Most of us had stay at home mothers.....that's great RD!

Stay at home moms are fine. I didn't have one but I am sure that would have been a wonderful thing. Frankly My family was too broke for my mom not to work. That is the reason I did not have a stay at home mom. I am sure you never considered that possibility genius.

What do you have against people who are lawyers? I guess if people do not grow up like you they are bad people. So all lawyers are bad RD? What are you saying RD? Better yet...what do you have against working moms RD?

So working moms cannot raise good kids RD and have successful careers?

Who's in the corner now....and I do not need anyone else's validation to make my point.

I will say again for the sane people here:

When I think of the schools I have been to and the names associated with them. I do not think of Laura Bush. I can also think of women who are alot more deserving of that honor. Eleanor Rosevelt (who has a school named after her) comes to mind and Laura bush could not hold a candle up to her accomplishments.

Did I insult stay at home moms with that statement? or is someone here OVERLY Sensitive

I have a problem with anyone who uses the word "validation", unless it is in the context of a parking lot.

That is harsh stuff. I mean afterall, just a couple of weeks ago Laura Bush gave a swell speech just outside of St. Cloud, Minnesota at a little quilt shop. I think all six of the octagenarian quilters that were there were inspired by her.

There's your statement Jimmy. I have no clue what your little tirade was all about. Nice job of trying to be an internet tough guy saying I'm not man enough, etc.

Answer the question. You said Hillary has accomplished more in her life than Laura Bush. I assumed that you prefer a power hungry, carpet-bagging lawyer with a joke of a marriage over a librarian/teacher/homemaker. Sorry if I assumed wrong but I'm not sure how else you could establish one's accomplishments otherwise.

Alot of Bills success in regard to health care, balancing the budget, cops on the street, banning assault weapons and the cooling off period before you buy a handgun, etc. should have also been shared by Hillary. She has a brilliant mind and I'm sure she advised Bill throughout his Presidency. It's good to have a stay at home wife...but....Women have brains too, if you allow them to develop them. Republicans want to push women down into servitude by saying that they need to stay with the kids. We Democrats want to lift women up by encouraging them to go to school and work. We don't believe in the "trickle down" idealogy of President Regan, we believe in the "percolate up" theory that means instead of giving the tax-breaks that you gave today in secret, to corporations (he signed it without the press or public being around...Oct. 22)...It means giving it to the the poor and middle class...

Yeah, money grubbing pursuits like graduating from Wellesly with honors and then being on the Board of Editors for the Yale Review of Law and Social Action. The she became a staff attorney for the Children's Defense Fund (which we all know how lucrative that can be) and a staffer for the Senate Judiciary Committee during the Watergate hearings (anyone working to bring Nixon to justice is tops in my book). She then taught law at University of Arkansas (which some might think a bit more of an accomplishment than teaching at an elementary school, however I'll admit no more important) Then she was named to the board of the Legal Services Corp by President Carter, again, another well known refuge for carpet-bagging lawyers looking for a quick score. By the way, this was all before Clinton was Gov. And let's see, oh yeah, now she is a Senator.

Oh, and on the home front, in terms of raising kids, I'll venture the opinion that Chelsea Clinton has and will accomplish more with her life than both Bush daughters combined. So far, I have not seen or heard of her name on any police blotters.
