Well, what better time for a return to the "Memory of the Week" than the bye week. Hopefully this will help a little for everyone's Redskins withdrawl.
This week's clip chronicles the comeback over the Raiders in 1983, a preview of SB 18. If only it had BEEN SB 18. But, it's still a classic, memorable game in Redskins history, and one of the best comebacks the team ever had. Probably the best game of 1983, too, at least next to the Skins 48-47 loss to the Pack that same year.
Anyway, hope everyone enjoys it, and please note the new address:

Have a great weekend watching some stress-free football!!

That was a classic indeed. I was in stationed in Chicago when they played Green Bay. Unbelievable shootout! You are right, I wish it was the Super Bowl. I remember Joe Theismann saying he felt the Raiders knew what was coming the whole game. Apparently their were helicopters flying over Tampa Stadium during the 'Skins practice sessions, but they didn't think to ban them. The Redskins were by far the class of the NFL that year, 14-2 and set the record for most points in a season, 541 I believe. What a squad!

Magnificent clip WWD, this was a game I remember very well in my first full year as a Redskins fan. I really loved Joe Washington and this was one of his finest seasons. He had great moves in open field. He finished his career with 395 receptions, over 8300 combined rushing/receiving yards and 30TD's, a pretty decent career, and a real gutsy player.
You know at his best Joey T, could really move the ball.
One other thing as the HOF is in a lot of our minds at the moment, I want you to look at all the Skins celebrations even on the interception, one of the first players there to congratulate his team mates was Art Monk, for Monk read the word team.

I was in the 5th grade and playing Little League Football at the time of this game .... I can vividly remember storming in the door once we had gotten home and running downstairs to turn on the television and see if the 'Skins had won or not.... I turned on the tv and remember the fans @ RFK going crazy while NBC camera's were showing Riggins walking off the field.... I'm saying to myself, "What the heck happened!?!" And, I found out during halftime of the late (4pm) game.... Awwwwwww, man!! Those were the days!!

This game shocked me big time! I was thinking, at least we can use some plays that hopefully will work for next week and bam! The Skins were back in it! That's when I knew this offense and coach were more than special, but GREAT!

That Redskins comeback over the Raiders is, oddly, what convinced me the Raiders were likely to beat the Redskins in the Super Bowl later that year. I believe Marcus Allen missed that first game against the Redskins and we barely beat them. With Marcus Allen in the game in the Super Bowl, I believed the Skins were dead meat. Unfortunately, that turned out to be the case. Marcus Allen broke John Riggins' rushing yards record in the Super Bowl and was named game MVP.
I didn't eat for two days.
