This is the stat that scares me the most. I like Gibbs coming off of a bye-week. But, for all mercy, the offense needs to get going. I am anti-Brunnel, with what I've seen so far. He is somewhat physically limited. However, he is still physically capable of moving the ball and getting the offense going. Might not be Peyton Manning or anything, but he could do it. I like what Gibbs did regarding Portis prior to the Chicago game. I pray that does a good job with Brunnel leading up to this huge game. Brunnel has been horrendous, however he could still be effective in leading our offense back. There is a monumental difference between a qb who throws for around 100 yds. a game versus one who throws for 150-175 yds./game. This sole stat is equivalent to night & day with this team. If and what changes do you foresee Gibbs making offensively for this team during this bye week? Could the changes be huge changes. Man, whatever it takes. Just get this offense going. This team could be deadly with an offense. The talent is there, make it click Joe, like you always do....

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!!

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!!If Brunell is going to come around..this is
the game to do it. The Packers corners are suspect.

I see more three WR sets with short to medium passes. He will make the secondary respect the passing game, and that will open up the run. I also forsee improved special teams play. Betts may get some return duties since Morten can't handle it.

we've already seen a glimpse of Gibbs' adjustment to his offense during the Bears game w/ more wide outs spreading the field, making it look like a pass and then running it.

plus the use of the FB in the I-Formation w/ Sellers leading the way. he's an excellent blocker who ate up Urlacher the couple times they met. this has opened up more holes for Portis. thus the release of Rasby was more clear of this adjustment.

with the passing game inconsistent, Gibbs will unleash the running game since he knows what he has w/ Portis and the steady improvement of the OL.. not as much Gut plays and counters but more of the cutback runs Portis is good for. the Skins' OL did more zone blocking and cut blocking in the last game.

Coles is not 100% and Gardner's inconsistency is adding to the passing woes of Brunell's inefficiency. so i'm looking for more 3-4 WR sets and to utilize Cooley and Sellers more w/ those rollouts and bootlegs by Brunell. plus w/ Koz and Baxter back we have better options at the pass catching TE/HB compared to Rasby.

and another good thing.. at least the most points our D have allowed this season is 21 points. so if we had a good offense since the beginning then we could easily be undefeated.. there is hope.

I love the idea of Sellers knocking the snot out of people in front of Clinton and then letting him do his damn thang. A buddy of mine, who is a huge Canes fan, said he honestly feels Gibbs may be "overcoaching" Portis. He said give him a lead blocker and let him know what the line is doing and then let him go. He said 75% of the time will be $$$$$$$$$$. Equivalent=5.5 yds/carry. We will turn this around this yr.

Portis has also said that he's tried running like this (how he did in college) in the NFL and it doesn't work at all. At least he is mature and smart enough to adjust to what has made him a great back in this league, just like Gibbs does. Very soon Gibbs + Portis will make teams like the Eagles sit up with a migraine at night.

As long as Brunell is out there, we don't stand a chance at making the playoffs. You Brunell lovers can whitewash it all you want but Brunell is as bad as Kyle Bowler of the Ravens. Oh wait..Boller didn't fumble did he and let the skins defense score a TD huh?

Give me a break, had Betts made any attempt at blocking Ed Reed that fumble wouldn't have occurred. NO QB in the league can make plays if his team blockers don't recognize and pick up blitzers. Brunell hasn't played well the last two games but if your gonna attack him as the reason were losing atleast point to something he could have controlled (over throws, interceptions, etc.)

Please let me know if this is going to turn into another Mark Brunell thread, so that I can merge it with the others.

Offensive production is, to say the least, limited without an effective passing game. However, with the improved run performance, now Coach Gibbs can introduce the passing schemes that will confound the defenses. This week, with Green Bay's suspect secondary, is a great oppportunity to put those plays into practice and performance. Look for expanded passing opportunites to the TE/HB Chris Cooley. RedSkinsVision also called it right with more of the 3 - 4 WR sets being shown. All of this is dependent on the QB holding in the pocket as needed and utilizing the roll out on call.

:)

just my 2 cents . . .

The goal set by Coach Gibbs for each game is to score at least 3 TDs. (never heard him specify how it was to be done). I don't think he'll feel the team is on the right track until it meets his goal.

I'm no huge fan of Brunell's play as a Redskin. Simply put, when he has had opportunities, he's bumbled them away. He is another in a long line of overpriced aquisitions who have performed below expectations (hopefully this will change). However, he has not had a lot of time to look downfield, so the release of KJ is the most telling part of what is going on. Give him more time and maybe we will see better results.

Jansen's loss has hampered this offense as much as anything, but there is no choice but to suck it up and get r done. Somebody must step up fast. Problem is the rookies are not ready, Brown is too old, and Parker is probably not the answer. Unless we patch this glaring hole, there will be more of the same no matter who is at QB.
