And since I don't follow any soccer but my Son's team (which currently has lost every single game this season...I'm so proud :D) I don't know anything about what is going on with them (er DC United that is)
...it's supposed to be a playoff game, can anyone give me some info.?

I'll try to AGG.
This is their second playoff game this year. They beat the NY/NJ Metro Stars last Saturday night. They have hit their peak at the right time.
United has the youngest player in MLS, Freddy Adu. I think he 14. Could be 15 now...
It should be a blast going to RFK. Even if its not to watch the Redskins. Every time I watch a United game on TV, I can't help but think back to all of the great football games played there.
Have a great time!

The El Salvadoran guys are the most fun at the game. They walk around the concourse before the game with big metal drums that they bang on very loudly. For some reason, I don't find it annoying. They'll bang on those drums the entire game and the crowd takes up the chant. It goes [Drum Drum Drum Drum Drum] DC UNITED!
What it lacks in creativity in makes up for in enthusiasm. The games are quite fun, actually. I enjoyed them and unlike most people who enjoy soccer games, I'm not a drunk!

We have the best organized group of fans in MLS in Barra Brava. Sitting in their section is a blast.

Tickets can be as cheap as 15$, and as expensive as $27. Once the game has started, you can just go to better seats if it isnt full. I got free tickets to a game, and it was a lot of fun. Me and my firends went up to the "luxury" (if thats what u want to call them) boxes. It was actually just a room with a cable tv, and a phone. It was emoty so we wnt in, and spent the rest of the time there. Fan groups like the barra brava and el norte have tailgaiting before the game in the parking lot, and you'd be surprised at how many hardcore skins fans there are.

I used to go to games all the time when I first moved to DC. (Back when they were actually good) The past few seasons have been tough...but it looks like they are playing like a team again.
I went to the home-opener this season, which was Freddie Adu's first professional game. He didn't make it out on the field until after the 70th minute, but when he did, the place WENT NUTS...
Its a great time...and tailgating is a blast.

No self-respecting Marylander doesn't know who Freddy Adu is...I'm excited to see him play.
My Mike got tickets from a Customer, we're with them in one of the luxury boxes, I prefer to be with the masses, but the box is probably better when your toting the kids...thanks for the info guys!

i'd love to attend a DC United game sometime. i've been to 2 skins games, a georgetown basketball game, orioles game, but nothing for soccer. i remember DC in their glory, winning championships right off the bat.
be prepared for some loudness.

Ah back when we dominated. MLS got tired of watching us win and forced us to move players. Ironically, the heyday of MLS coincided with us being a good team. Hopefully the young guys will get us back there.
Sidenote: although I want MLS to thrive, I'd rather the young U.S. team players go overseas to hone their skills. It's much better for the national team.

Lorri, is Freddy Adu from Maryland? If so, I had no idea. I always assumed he was from Florida for some reason....lol

Freddy was offered a professional contract when he was 11 yrs old from England. His mother won the Lottery in Ghana. Their lottery is citizenship in the US. Heard this all on 60 minutes. Was an interesting story!

thats a lie, freddy adu isnt that young. He played soccer against my girlfriend's brother's team. They both hate him tremendously for some reason so when they boo at him in the games i kinda just try to hide.

This is what I found on Freddy, all websites devoted to him seem to agree that he is 15...so CarMike isn't "lying"

Birthdate June 2, 1989

Freddy Adu was born on June 2, 1989 in Ghana. His mother won an immigration lottery and came to America. Freddy's mother, father, and younger brother then settled in Washington D.C. A school friend invited Freddy to play soccer at recess; there Freddy's skills were witnessed and he was quickly made a member of a local soccer team. In the mean time, Freddy's dad walked out on the Adu family and has to this day not contacted Freddy or his mom. After helping his team dominate the league, Freddy then played at two youth soccer tournament in Italy, where he was named the MVP. Representatives from the premier Italian team, Inter Milan, offered Freddy's family $750,000 to sign him. However, Freddy's mom refused, saying he was too young. After refusing many more offers, the Adu family finally agreed to let Freddy join the U.S. Soccer Federation’s residency program. There, he is training with the top U-17 players in the country while finishing high school at an accelerated pace. In February 2003, Freddy received his US citizenship. He played with the US Squad in the U-17 World Championships. In November 2003 he signed a 6 year contract to play for the MLS team, DC United.
"I guess Troy hasn't played against a 12 year old before."
-US Coach John Ellinger after Freddy deked MLS All-Star defender Troy Dayak

Well we had a great time at the soccer game last night...but I gotta tell ya, they sure do just pass the ball a lot...then a few minutes before the end of the game they actually start trying to shoot for a goal...Freddy only played about 5 minutes, but boy did he make them count, DC United 2, Metro 0
...we got a kick watching the stadium seats bouncing up and down, reminded me of better days....

Got their facts wrong there. 11 years is too young to be offered pro terms over here - quite possible he might have been offered schoolboy terms, but a) he wouldn't have been paid and, b) being signed even on schoolboy terms as an 11 year old is extremely rare...

HE IS THAT YOUNG you big goof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have the official program from the game the other night the boy was born in 1989!!!!!
Did it occur to you that he might have played with the older kids because he's VERY GOOD at soccer? Hence the contract with DC United at the age of 15? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeshhh, like talking to a wall

If any of you have ever thought about going to a D.C. United game, this is "THE" one game you want to go to! I'm a member of the Barra Brava (The crazy group in section 135. We are the ones that are jumping up and down for 90 minutes non stop. The game this Sat. is for the Eastern Conf. Championship. I'm a diehard DCU fan just like a diehard 'Skins fan. I can tell you one thing. Everytime any of us have brought a firend to a game, they've had a blast. And these are people that are not soccer fans! It's just a great party atmosphere. I to love going because it always reminds me of the glory days of the Redskins when I go to RFK. Anyway, hope some of you can make it. You won't regret it.

Not sure if anyone went to the game vs NE tonight, but that was the best mls game in league history. 3-3 heading into penalty kicks, and rimando (the gk) saves a kick to win the game. The atmosphere in the stadium was amazing.

Me and my boys went.
Was sitting next to this guy and he kept cheering for NE, finally big Mike was like, "Yo...?" and the guy said, "Sorry, but #6 is my son."
