The ACC is well represented! I think I would have had the Heels #1. And this is coming from a Maryland fan. They have all five starters returning and seem to have found a little help for May down low. Another year of experience under the Roy Williams system will make them very formidable.
I can't wait to see Raymond Felton and Chris Paul go head to head. I like Maryland at #16. Gary will get alot out of them again and hopefully they can build on the ACC Championship. John Gilchrist is special, a relentless work ethic, ala Juan Dixon. Gary loves that and it is catching. This is going to be a special year!!!

I agree, they will probably end up winning the third straight title for the big east. BTW 8 big east teams recieved votes in the top 25 poll.

you should include uconn on the overrated list. losing okafor and gordon has to hurt. sure they have villanueva(sp), but i dont see him being the impact player this year that those 2 were.
how can maryland be 16th when they only lost 1 player off of an ACC champion team? unc will be deadly this year, and they will sweep duke.

Last night I almost pooped myself when a score came across the Bottom Line on ESPN. UNC 54 Syracuse 104. Thank God it was Northern Colorado not Carolina. Not funny ESPN there is only one UNC and it is in blue heaven.

We're always considered overrated at the beginning of the year, but are always mentioned in title talks come March. We're a younger team (with the top recruiting class), but we're much deeper than last year. We have about 5 we can bring in off our bench. I don't think we should be rated higher than this right now, but we always start around 9-10 and always finish higher, so I wouldn't count Tubby out. I don't think it's a championship year for us, but I think we've got a sweet sixteen at least.
As far as the rest of the SEC, I'm sad to see the quality go down like this. Florida is harldy worth mopping the floor and with UGA's offcourt issues, we may not see them up high for a while. Oh well, I gues we'll just have to win another SEC title. Ho hum.

I think UMD is 16 because many people felt they really overachieved and hit a hot streak to do as well as they did. In the preseason polls through the first couple of weeks, it's mostly decided by strength on paper.
