Excellent write up about North Carolinas upset over #3 Miami, and Marylands upset of F$U....
Great read on both schools. [Marylands article is about half way down the page....

That was 2 great upsets by UNC and the Terps.
I am surpriced by how MD has turned around the problems we were having on offence so soon. I thought for sure that it would take until next season to do so.
And Mike, I was rooting for your Tarheels to beat Miami, bro.
Congrates.

Yup, great article and congrats to UNC and UMD for the huge wins against the hated Florida teams (Especially UNC for putting us in control of our destiny in the ACC title race).
So CarMike, what are your thoughts for the game this weekend?
UNC's offense is very dangerous, but VT's defense is playing a lot better than Miami has been the last couple weeks. On the other side of the ball Bryan Randall is playing as well as I could expect him to, he is really emerging as a leader and taking games into his own hands in the 4th quarter.
My pick, 27-20 VT.

Well, I'm very worried about the Tar Heels not showing up this week. The coaches and players have been saying the right things. "We're thru with the Miami game"..."We're consentrating on Virginia Tech"...and so on.
Randel scares the death out of me. He's the type of QB that could kill us. It seems that UNCs defense plays better against the pocket type of QB. But, with that said, who knows from one to the next. UNC beat Ga. Tech very soundly. A team that VT had to score 25 points in the final 5 minutes to beat....UNC also beat ncstate...a team that beat VT in Blacksburg...
In the end, I can see VT winning this game. But i'm going to go out on a limb and say that I predict a UNC victory.
UNC 27-24

Yeah it does concern me that you guys put up 35 points on an NCSU defense that sacked Randall ten times and had us travelling backwards until Randall started doing amazing things in the 4th quarter like juking 5 people on one play just to get three yards.
This game is real tough to call, I am confident that we will beat UMD at home and can beat UVA at home, but I am always nervous when we go on the road, it isn't our strongpoint.

The surprising thing to me is that last year, we winless at Kenan Stadium.
Its hard for me to realize that if we win atleast 2 out of 3, we could be heading to a bowl game. We have VT, WF, and dook.
Both, VT and Wake, will be tough to win. dook should be a easy win for UNC. But they did beat us last year....ughh. So who knows.
At the beginning of the year I penciled the VT game as an automatic loss. But, I did the same with nc state and UM as well....
Meet back here on Saturday and we'll have a thread just for this game...;)

i think UNC and UMD have a shot against VT. i mean, they do have a history of dropping badly come november, so it is possible. but i think VT will win one of the games, and im hoping thats against the tar heels

I doubt it, unless there is a total collapse and VT just starts sucking like last year we will only lose to UNC before playing UVA and Miami. Virginia Tech is very good at home, and on a Thursday night? The stadium will be crazy.
We did lose to NCSU at home, but we lost that game on two very makeable field goals, since then Mr. Pace has been very good and I believe he is the ACC's leading scorer.
