Kobie scores 38 points. The rest of the Kobies scored 40 pts.
The Kobies score a total of 28 points in the first quarter....
Hate to say it, but I'm loving it....:D

I dont' like the Lakers...never have...never will.
Now Jerry Buss got what he wanted. No Shaq...no Phil. Didnt' he see how this was going to mirror the Bulls team after their breakup?

i liked phil and MJ, but i hated the lakers cause i couldnt stand kobe. if eddie jordan fails this year, i would LOVE to see phil coach the wizards, even though i know that wont happen. buss is making a big mistake. kobe before phil = no rings. kobe w/ phil = 3 rings. kobe after phil = no rings. kobe w/o shaq = no playoffs.

Ryan, I heard the other day that the only team Phil has any interest in coaching is the New York Knicks...

Phil won't coach anyone without a stockpile of stars. He hasn't coached in 10 years.

i am not a HUGE bball fan, but i get ticked when people rip phil and say he rode MJ and shaq's coattails.
the total number of combined rings for MJ, kobe, and shaq without phil is 0!!! don't get me wrong, it definitely was NOT all phil, but he is the master at getting those superstars to meld.
now i hope the lakers blow up and never win another game.

you obviously don't know what you are talking about here... ask MJ how he feels about phil as a coach. ask pippen. ask shaq...
i'd say as kobe, but kobe's head is too far up kobe's arse.

You proved my theory by who you said to ask.......

Phil isn't an X and O kind of coach. He's generally more of a manager of personalities and egos. He succeeded brilliantly in Chicago by getting some talented players to understand that it was MJ's team and they had to subordinate themselves to MJ if they were going to dominate. Mission accomplished.
It was tougher in L.A. The fact that he got two egotistical monsters like Shaq and Kobe to work together at all was pretty impressive, but it couldn't last forever. In the end, people will see that Jackson was correct in believing the team was built around Shaq and had to be centered [no pun intended] around Shaq. Kobe couldn't accept that. He wouldn't play Scottie to Shaq's Michael.
So now he gets to lead the NBA in scoring with 34 ppg and lose twice as many games as he did with Shaq. Hey, if it is what he wants...

This after 2 games out of an 82 game season? If Wizards fans were to condem them after every bad less there'd be about 3 people at their games.

The Lakers are going to have a lot of very interesting games. There are going to be plenty of games like we saw from the Lakers where Kobe will score 40 and they will still lose by 20. There will also be games where their perimeter players get hot and destroy teams. I don't think they can make the playoffs this year because they don't have a solid inside game. Especially in the west there is no hope of being successful when you can't defend or score inside. The sad part is if this team is in the East they may be a Top 4 team in the conference.

You can easily question Phil Jackson's reputation based on who he has coached. But every great coach has had great players playing for him.
Just to give you an idea of what I mean Red Auerbach had HOFs in Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, Tom Heinsohn, Bob Houbregs, K.C. Jones, Sam Jones, Ed Macauley, Andy Phillip, Frank Ramsey, Arnie Risen, Bill Russell, and Bill Sharman. Thats 12 players an ENTIRE ROSTER of HOFs who played for the Celtics during Auerbach's time. Now I'm not using this to knock him as a coach but if you look at any very successful coach he had VERY good players leading his teams. Thats in any sport. You can look at Lombardi, Gibbs, Torre, Bowman, pick your sport and its great coach and they had great talent with them. Phil Jackson is a great coach because he was able to manage the talent he had and develop the talent around his great players. The best coaches are those who take advantage of there strengthes, Jordan and Shaq were the strengths of the Bulls and Lakers and he used them effectively.
