The WWE has cut 10 - count them, 10 - wrestlers in the last two days. Rumor has it more cuts are coming, and that WWE is moving to smaller arenas for their house shows, TV shows, and PPV's. What does this mean, in the middle of contract negotiations with Spike TV? Things are looking scary...
The talent that was released are as follows:
Test
Chuck Palumbo
Johnny Stamboli
Rodney Mack
Jazz
Rico
A-Train
Billy Gunn
Gail Kim
Nidia
Thoughts? You folks are in more wrestle-centric country than I, perhaps you have heard some rumblings?

The only names I recognize are Test, Billy Gunn and Nidia. I never thought Test was any good in front of the mic or in the ring. Billy Gunn is washed up and should have been cut years ago. Nidia, I believe, was one of the winners of that reality show, right? I never saw her wrestle before....but having watched the reality show, I doubt she would be any good...
Wrestling popularity is down...so I would expect the WWE to trim some of the fat.

Yeah, it makes sense, but at the same time they are bringing in new wrestlers (Like the 2 new "Muslim" wrestlers that we are all supposed to hate). Methinks maybe it is time for them to re combine the rosters... the brand extension may just have gone toooooo far.
I was only really surprised by Nidia, Rico, and Gail Kim. Nidia because as you said she was a tuff enough winner, and has been working hard and doing very well since, considering. Rico because he has been getting some recent push over on smackdown and it seems odd to just drop him in the middle of an angle like that... and Gail Kim, because that seems to really weaken the Diva division, any way you look at it.
Unless, of course, they DO recombine the brands, and the pool increases.

I too was very surprised by the cuts with Nidia Rico and Gail Kim. It seemed as though Nida was on the upswing. I find Rico very entertaining, and i am sad to see him go, but I am VERY puzzled by Gail Kim. She was one of the up and rising divas, and i thought she brought alot to the female heals. With all of these cuts (and i've heard rumors of more to come) they had better be combining the shows again, or WWE is going to be in BIG trouble.

HEATHEN! :)

I did too, he really redid that gimmick well... Oh, well, I guess it's back to American Gladiators for him.

I stopped watching about the time wwf took over wcw. everything after that got stupid and there was just way too many wrestlers/plots to follow. Downsizing is not a bad idea and those 10 wrestlers arn't very good anyway.

I agree with you on one thing. WWE taking WCW out was a mistake. The lack of competition has led to lack of interest, and that is not a good thing. Ratings have slid steadily downhill since that point.
It's something ole Vince needs to come to grips with... viable competition helps.

I wish the Rock, Stone Cold would come back. And I'd like to see WWE go after some of the guys that are in TNA. The pay-per-view channel where you have to pay $10 dollars a week to see.
I miss watching Sting the most....

Stone Cold is working on it. If he gets his personal affairs in order it won't be too long.
Rock will be no more than a special attraction unless his movie career dies down. This saddens me, he was the greatest, bad or good.
Sting is a longshot. He's become a very strong born-again Christian and devoted family man, and doesn't want to make too many appearances (especially with his new beleifs conflicting with what the WWE offers sometimes).

I quit watching mainly because every important match seemed to end with someone coming out of nowhere with a chair or something. that gets real old real quick

Those 10 would never amount to much anything anyway. Most of them were just fillers to use on heat/house shows.

That has actually become somewhat of a running joke.
"And then, out of nowhere, HHH hit him with a sledgehammer"
"And then, out of nowhere, Orton waffled him with a chair"
"And then, out of nowhere, it was a b&p match"
Whoops, how did that last one get in there?

I stopped watching wrestling when Stone cold left. It was going downhill fast. Smackdown sucked, Raw was only good when Stone Cold was on, so needless to say once he left i stopped watching.

I have never been a fan of Stone Cold but he was good for the WWE. I agree they need to combine the rosters. Vince is trying to bring along some good young guys but he has not found another Rock or Stone Cold. smackdown is a joke. My key for the WWE to geting things turned around is getting HHH out of Vinces pocket and allowing someone else to be the leader. HHH has run his course right now, and needs to do something else with his character.
rico, Kim and Nidia surprised me also. I thought Nidia had worked very hard. Kim's only real assest was she was super hot, rico was very funny and ne of my favorites to watch. I think Maven is another hard worker who deserves a good push which he is getting

I watched through the epic Rock/HHH matches which were very good. Kurt Angle was great when he first started and the Dudleyz/Hardy Boys/ Edge & Christian were incredible in the triple threat tag match in 2000. Once Vince bought WCW there was simply too much going on. The Rock left (I doubt he'll wrestle regularly again. He lost 50lbs just to be in movies). and people like Randy Orton are considered good. No thanks. It's not funny anymore. It's not creative anymore. Vince should cut about half of his wrestlers and give some money to help someone start up a rival company. It will only get better if there is competition.

Test. My how the mighty have fallen.....goes from being engaged to the bosses daughter to being cut.
Do they have to clear waivers or anything?
One side note, I noticed the word "Talent" was used in listing who was let go, as opposed to 'wrestlers' or 'athletes', etc.
I thought the term "Talent" was reserved for the Porn industry, where you are either talent or a fluffer?
