I think it is also showing at the Incredibles.

I think the trailer looks pretty cool, the trailer for the Episode III video game also looks sick. I like the footage of the movie with Annakin and Obi-Wan beating down each other.

The Incredibles is also the best movie of the year in my opinion. Utterly hilarious.

Looks pretty sweet. This is it for Lucas, the first two were alright, he needs to wow us with this one.

I think he will. It will easily be the darkest of all the movies. It's the story that everyone has been waiting to see since ROTJ.

I agree considering it dipicts the birth of Darth Vader and how he wipes out the ranks of the Jedi.

Should be pretty dark

What about the rumors about episodes VII, VIII, and IX? I have only caught bits and pieces from the net and television. I think it came from an interview in the 70's when Lucas talked about a "trilogy of trilogies".

I have heard people desiring these episodes, of which I am one, but I don't think they will happen. Lucas has always said that these six episodes are the story he wrote and that he had no plans to go even further after ROTJ. I don't think Harrison Ford would do another episode. Hamill and Fisher would, but that is irrelevant.

Besides, there is the problem with all of the novels that Lucas had allowed other authors to write after ROTJ. Each person has put there own spin on the characters and the story line after ROTJ. Lucas would then have to write a new screen play based off of what other people have wrote, otherwise it would make what they wrote contradictory.

The essence of Star Wars, as Lucas wrote it, is about the fall of Anakin Skywalker and his redemption through his son. Everything else is subsidiary.

This is the last movie about Star Wars that you will see from Lucas, IMO.

I think so too. I know I've been waiting to see how all this happens, I can't wait.

Lucas has said he wont do it, someone else might, but the one coming up would have to do well at the box office before anyone would consider it.

I don't want Star Wars to turn into a Star Trek type deal. The story is about Anakin Skywalker's fall and redemption. That's it. Not about Leia marrying Solo or Chewbacca being killed by the Yuzhaan Vong or Luke having more than 1 apprentice.

yeah, the problem is that it would be hard to find a good story to make into three movies.

They cannot do so much with it considering it has to fit the the first batch of movies right?

Then there is the problem of the novels written after ROTJ. Do they pick a novel to do the screenplay? If so, which one? If not, how do they reconcile the differing story lines? That's why I think it will never be done.

It comes down to there have been several authors who have penned their own versions of what happened after ROTJ. Yes they had to get permission from Lucas to use the characters and such, but I assume they had artistic freedom to take the story wherever they wanted, not just where Lucas would have wanted it to go, otherwise there would not be much of a point in writing a novel like that.

Star Wars is basically two movies. He wrote what you can consider two stories. The first was Episodes IV-VI. But the scale of it was so big that he couldn't do it in one movie. So he broke them up into 'acts'. When he made the original Star Wars, you will not that it did not have the title "A New Hope", or Episode IV. He made it as a stand alone story incase it bombed at the box office and he couldn't get anyone to make the following chapters. When it was a huge success and it was released and he knew he would be able to make the other chapters, then he went back and added Episode IV and 'A New Hope'.

The other story was the background of the principle characters. Where did Anakin come from and how was he related to Obi-Wan, etc. That's what you are seeing now. Episodes I and II you can basically consider filler, Episode I more than II, because the real background was only really Episode III. Ever since Darth Vader uttered the words "We meet again at last" in Episode IV, people have been waiting to see a younger Obi Wan and Anakin Skywalker fight and Anakin's fall to the dark side. This movie is about how someone good becomes bad, how their desire to control life and death can turn into wanting to control everything and what you are willing to give up to achieve that.

There are rumors of a Star Wars television series that will explore the galaxy post Episode VI... The rumored man to be appointed by Lucas in charge of this TV show... Kevin Smith. Yes, the man behind Clerks, Jersey Girl, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

I don't think I would be interested at all in a TV version of Star Wars. It was made for the big screen. That's where it should stay, IMO.

The animated Clone Wars TV show is quite good. I think as an animated show it would have more potential, as long as it was still serious and not like the "Ewoks Christmas Special"...

Big time.

Well, I saw the trailer and I will just say this, I don't think you will be disappointed in this film. I know non Star Wars fans and those on the periphery were very disappointed in Episode I and they thought Epsiode II was only marginally better. This is the one, however, that everyone has been waiting for.

On another note, I bought the original trilogy on DVD a couple of weeks ago, don't know if you have that yet. Lucas made a couple more changes from the Special Edition that came out several years ago.

In ROTJ, he replaced Sebastian Shaw, the 'original' Anakin Skywalker with Hayden Christensen at the very end, during the celebration scene. And in TESB, he replaced Clive Reville, the 'original' emperor, with Ian McDiarmid. They also changed some of the dialogue to indicate that Vader tried to make the Emperor think at that point he didn't know he had a son.

Very interesting.

Thanks for the info.

I was saying that I was staying away from the trailer because I wanted to see the film without any previews, but I'm sure I'll bow down to curiosity.

I had been holding off in getting the Trilogy on DVD because I had it on VHS, but I probably will go ahead and buy it this weekend. those do sound like interesting additions/changes from the original.

You've gotta get the DVDs if your VHS copies are full screen, widescreen is the only way to go baby.

Also, if your VHS copies are pre-Special Editions, you have some sweet collector's items on your hands. Lucas has stated that he will never allow a release of the non-Special Edition original trilogy ever, so alas, Greedo must shoot first forever (although on the new DVDs it has been altered so that Greedo just barely shoots first, it still infuriates me!)

Also the DVD change inserting Hayden Christensen pisses me off. And they changed the voice of Boba Fett to the actor who played Jango Fett in Episode II (b/c Boba is a clone of Jango)!!!! Now listen to the way Boba Fett says "As you wish..." It's TERRIBLE!!

Ughh, oh well, still my favorite movies of all time, if you can't tell :)

I have 3 copies of the trilogy now. 2 on VHS and now the DVD. Each time they came out with something new, I bought it.
