the first half. playcalling (ie not running portis. only 17 carries). losing.

Overall, both QBs looked horrible.
WRs continue to kill our offense by missing balls.
We need Hall back badly!
1st half our defense looked like last years defense.
inevitable

Smoot and Springs were burnt several times. Dropped balls, not running Portis, missed tackles, no pressure on Palmer, balls thrown directly to Bengals players (4x) sacks, no offense for 3 quarters, missed FG, stupid time management at the end of the game...
The list goes on literally forever.

agreed. Throwing wit bruneel for two straight drives with a punt and an int. was stupid. Our passing D looked awful early also

It was another bad loss that showed the weaknesses of the TEAM, not necessarily one individual or unit!

Playcalling. Playcalling. Playcalling. Bengals D sucked against the run, and we played right into their strengths.

it didn't help any that we fell behind early. That caused us to pass more.....

i have no idea why we were throwing the ball early when we all knew that portis needed 30+ for us to win. and the dropped passes....

everything, this team w/a top 5 RB and a #1 Defense being 3-6 and only 1 win at home, where's the home field advantage? basically the ugly is how bad this team really is on offense, I love Gibbs more then anyone but I'm starting to doubt even he can turn this sinking ship around.
inevitable
11-14-2004, 06:33 PM
If we woulda ran more in the 3rd quarter, the passing game woulda been much easier and there wouldn't have been so much pressure on Ramsey.
Gibbs' play calling has been extremley sketchy, as have his offensive formations.
Again, I feel really bad for Portis, he deserves better then this.

OMT, why in the heck can't our WRs ever have YAC? [yards after catch] It seems that once our guys do decide to catch the ball, we are immediately tackled or fall down? Seems every other teams have a 3-5 yard catch and run it in for a TD.....

exactly my point, with his talent and his #'s 1 would think we could be a little more sufficent on Offense then we are, pathetic offense thus far

This just isn't our year for the amount of bad luck we've had. Stupid penalties, sketchy calls, dropped passes, etc etc. Gibbs has his work cut out for him with these egos in the locker room now. Next week is an extremely important win, not for records sake, but for the sake of Gibbs keeping his "team" together.

ugly 1st Half.. one of the worst in recent memory.
i hope Gibbs plays McCants more and bench Rod. it's time to start playing him and Taylor Jacobs more. Coles is playing injured.. Rod doesn't have the heart to play for Gibbs imo.
the OL was terrible all game. it's sad when at the end of the game we still have to have an extra blocker in to defend against a 4 man rush. R. Brown is a natural Guard.. he can't hang out there all game.. Samuels got beat a couple times.. Dockery is inconsistent.. Raymer gets blown up often and had a crucial penalty on a 1st Down play. a lot of work for Buges.

First off, we won't win next week, lets make that clear right now. After the Eagles pummel the cowfags tomorrow night, they'll be rolling for another NFC East game at home.
Secondly, I think its exactly opposite for the coaches and the players.
I think the players have their work cut out for them to keep from exploding at an offensive coaching staff that has proved incompetent and inconsistent.
If the players on our team can manage to not say anything, thats a huge testament to their self control, because as of now, the offensive coaching staff is letting them down.

Penalties seemed to pop up everytime we had a good play that resulted in a big gain or a first down.
Too many dropped passes....this is one area you can't fault Brunell or Ramsey.
Bad throws....definitely can fault both Ramsey and Brunell.

Defense started the game off horrribley.
Not being able to use Portis because of the defecit (Portis played a good game for what it's worth.)
WR's dropping balls like it's going out of business.
Penalties.

Our O-line is simply playing badly. Ray Brown should just not be on the field in any circumstances, Dockery is totally inconsistent, Samuels is far from bulletproof, and Raymer is just the worst. Can't wait to get Jansen back next year.
Our WRs drop an incredible amount of balls. We can't get anywhere near the quarterback without a massive blitz. We miss Lavar so badly.
The good news is that the O-line should be much improved in the offseason, Lavar will get healthy, and we'll draft a solid DE. Now if we could just get some stick-em on our WRs hands.

Yeah, it seems that everytime we manage to score a touchdown, the coaches call a penalty! And I hate those calls where the receivers are supposed to drop the pass that's right in their hands. And the idea of Buges telling the O-line to miss their blocks. He's definitely got to go!

Brunell 6 bad plays in one quarter
Ramsey 5 Bad plays in 3 quarters
Our Corners got their hats handed to them in the 1st quarter.
Just like in the giant game, the bengals have given all our opponets a blueprint on how to beat the Redskins.
1. Stay out of 2nd/3rd and long so you can dictate when you run and pass which also negates blitzing.
2. Run at the DE's and not at Griffin
3. The redskins D has a weakness in the zone switches. Brett Favre picked us apart on that and Palmer took advantage of it twice.
Basically when the cornerback turns over coverage to the Safety over the top or to a LB underneath there is almost always a whole.
Favre lit up our safties with a couple of bombs that were not covered properly.
They need to fix that because if I can see it....I know NFL D Coordinators can see it.

:lol1: yeah, because the offensive coaching staff has put us in positions to win every week
haha, yeah right buddy
The defense has given us the opportunity to win every single week, and 6 of the 9 weeks our offense has squandered that opportunity.
Even the simplest of viewers notice that dropped balls and penalties cause us to lose, but it takes a little more mature football viewer to understand how our offense works, and how it hasn't put us in an optimal position to win games.
I realize some of this might have avoided you, which is ok, and I realize many people are ready to slit throats when a person challenges a coach, but the best coaches in this league adapt the offense for the players, and that has not been done here. We're running a 1980's offense in the 21st century.
I have no idea what Gibbs is going to do for the future of this team, but I'm fairly certain the stagnant play of the offense falls square on the shoulders of the person calling the plays, as Gibbs admitted while adamantly defending Brunell for 8 weeks.

Is this what the coaching staff is gonna tell the players?
Now that really irritates me. This is the NFL. It the NFL, any team can beat any other team any given week. Keep your head up, even after this ugly loss, because if our beloved team plays their "A" game, they'll have a chance. I don't care if were are 0-9, it's a division game and anything can happed.

We just switched QB's, we're 0-2 in our division, we've lost to the Browns, the Bengals, and squeaked out wins against the Bears and the Lions.
Now, by Thursday this week everyone will devise brilliant ways to go 7-0 the rest of the way this year, but all stupid, blind optimism aside the Eagles and the Steelers are much better teams, both on a roll because of the success they've had this year, and even if we do show up with our "A game" we'll have a dog fight on our hands, not a gimme.
And if you think that in one week of practice Ramsey will be ready to pick apart a sturdy Eagles defense, and put enough points on the board to balance out TO/McNabb then a serious reality check is in store for the next three weeks.

We will have a puncher's chance in the eagles game but we have to run the football against a poorus eagles run defense which will expose their mediocre corners.
Lito Shepherd has played well, but it has mostly been the result of the eagle pass rush.
Pittsburgh lit him up like a X-mas tree...

This is very true. Ramsey has the capability of playing at Roethlisbergers level, but he hasn't had the support of a successful offense, and he hasn't been playing for 7 weeks.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to go sneak one out against the Eagles, but the way this offense has produced the last 9 weeks, I just don't see it happening.
We've done so many things to shoot ourselves in the foot, we just haven't been playing well enough to overcome the adversity.
Go 'Skins, but I'm not expecting too much.
Hopefully we can play a smart game, stop the turnovers & penalties, and see how it turns out.

I hate the eagles as much as anyone else here does, but you can't ignore the fact that they are a very talented team, with superb coaching that's been there for several years now.
We have a new coaching staff with plenty of talent, but we're still feeling our way out here 9 games into the season.
They are in a position to lay the hurt on us, but there will be a guaranteed majority who, by Thursday, will think we can squeak out a thriller in PA.
I know this won't happen, but theres several "minor victories" we can pull out of Philadelphia.
1) No turnovers
2) Less penalties
3) Punishing hits on TO
4) Rattling McNabb
5) Sustained offensive drives, whether we score or not.
These 5 things can set up a possible victory when we play Philly at home in 3 weeks, but use your judgement freind, and face the fact that we aren't going to win next week.

They have to get open first and that's not happening alot. our receivers really don't get separation in their routes. So, it doesn't matter who's playing QB if that's the case.

Both safties were tatooing people tonight....Taylor and Clark had to split my famous Jimreaper Sythe-Award. This award is given to the guy who dishes out the most wicked hit of the game.

This was the first game where I qiestioned our tackling. Considering the league wide consensus was that our D-Line would be a speed bump this year I would say that is pretty good.
By the way, If Palmer gets some consistency, the bengals are a pretty talented and tough football team

Time will tell if Ramsey is or is not the answer.
Time and 9 games clearly shouted that Brunell is not the answer
If we are going to go down in flames, we may as well find out if we need to get a new QB or give the ball back to Ramsey (as he is the future)

Fans, We are the underdogs this coming week. The "Iggles" will be waiting for us at home. Monday night, against the cowpukes, we will get a chance to see how porous their run defense is, can their safeties and corners be exploited, and is there a way to keep TO out of the game.... I don't expect the cowpukes to show us how I expect our fans to figure out from watching the game...
