Does anyone know the ACC Tiebreakers in the case of a three way tie?

I envision a situation in which VT beats MD and UVA but loses to Miami.

Here is what would happen:
Miami: 6-2
FSU: 6-2
VT: 6-2

Or lets say UVA beats VT and Vt beats Miami we've got:
FSU: 6-2
UVA: 6-2
VT: 6-2

Who wins in this situation?

UVA wins in all scenarios because they are clearly the superior school in academics. ;)

Just kidding. I don't know what the tie-breaker is...I'd be interested in knowing.

FSU would win because they beat UVA in a head to head match up and VA beat Vtech so it would be
1. FSU
2. UVA
3.Va Tech

no, this is where that bcs rule comes into play...before head to head, or actually i think it can cancel out head to head...something complicated like the whole system, but there is something to do with being 5 spots ahead of the person behind you i guess....

hopefully someone can elaborate on this, it happened to md when they went to the orange bowl against spurrier and fl, there was some scenario bout fsu that year until they lost to nc state

I too heard that the BCS rankings would determine the final outcome in a 3-way tie. If this is true, I think FSU would come out on top in both scenarios... which sucks since I would rather UVA or Miami win it over FSU.

Here's a snippet I found:

3-Way Tie with 6-2 record between Florida State, Miami, and Virginia.

Occurs if Miami wins against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, and Virginia wins at Georgia Tech and at Virginia Tech.

The three teams would be a evaluated as a three-team mini-conference. Miami would be 2-0 in the mini-conference, FSU would be 1-1 and Virginia 0-2. For FSU to earn the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) spot they would have to be the highest ranked team in the BCS and five spots higher than Miami.

3-Way Tie with 6-2 record between Florida State, Miami and Virginia Tech

Occurs if Miami beats Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, while Virginia Tech beats Maryland and Virginia.

No mini-conference comes into play because Florida State and Virginia Tech did not meet during the regular season. Despite the fact that Miami would have beaten both teams, the ACC's BCS representative would be the highest-ranked team in the BCS standings, which is currently Florida State.

2-Way Tie with 6-2 record between Florida State and Miami.

Occurs if Miami wins their last two games against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, plus Virginia loses one of their last two to either Georgia Tech or Virginia Tech, plus Virginia Tech loses at either Maryland or Virginia.

Florida State would be the BCS selection only if there are ranked in the BCS Top 10 and at least five spots ahead of Miami.

This is from an FSU site, hence it gears the results toward how FSU could win it.

Here's another: Miami Herald (http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/10183794.htm?1c)

On page 222 of the 2004 ACC media guide, it states, ``If two or all of the tied teams have not played each other, then the BCS bid goes to the highest-ranked team in the final BCS standings.''

BCS FACTOR

Thus, if UM, Tech and FSU tied and FSU stays, as it is now, ranked ahead of UM in the BCS standings, the Seminoles would go to the BCS game -- despite the Hurricanes having beaten them and Tech.

This is the scenerio i see coming about. I dont see Virginia beating VT.
