So, I know there are a ton of UMD fans here, what are your thoughts on this game?
I think that Marylands defense will keep them in the game for the most part, but Statham will not be able to capitalize. I say Imoh has a 100 yard game and Randall has a pretty good game running, and passes for 1TD and 1 pick.
On the other side of the ball UMD will have some success running, but not enough to reach the end zone.
VT: 13
MD: 3

One thing for sure ... Big Ralph will have his Terps fired up. This is their "Bowl Game". Time for the youngster to step it up.

VT 20
UMD-9
Not much hope for the umd offense this year, and especially not vs a team with the talent of virginia tech.

anybody else think that if steffy had been starting the entire season we could be 7-3 at this point?

As a UVA fan...This is the only time of the year you will see me rooting for UMD.
Gotta keep the ACC title hopes alive...

Yeah but if Tech or Miami win out, UVA is done. If you look at the recent lines, UVA is only favored by a field goal against Georgia Tech, so you know the Yellow Jackets will come to play.
My Prediction:
VT 21
Maryland 17
I see this game being alot like the West Virginia one. We get ahead in the second half by a decent margin and they come back, but someone on the defense steps it up and makes an interception.
What's teh status of Vinny for tonight (Vincent Fuller)?

no way md scores 17....
we'd prolly be worse if steffy started all year. a true frosh qb coming into the fridge's complicated offense? wouldnt be good.....
i say VT: 17 MD: 3

There are not BIG problems at UMD. They are just a very young football team.

Too bad they lost, so much for a bowl game this year. I hope the Fridge fixes this team next year and he sticks around for a while.

you mean he farted on national tv?
that game was unwatchable as a terps fan. for people who wonder why fans were leaving the skins game vs cincy, that was nothing compared to how the terps did not show up. to sugarcoat it a litte, i think the DE from VT was offsides on that xavier adibi INT. hopefully, we wont play like this against wake forest.
not just that, but this is probably the best VT team since the vick years. the last 3, they've just collapsed at the end of the year, but now they are catching stride. randall was making sick juking moves last night, they were running hard, and the defense played with heart.

That was a bad game for the MD program. We could have lost more than just this game - I have it feeling this will affect recruiting big time. This team really needs some soul searching during the off-season and Ralph can't let one bad season get to him (and that will be hard and you and see it). .......
My Congrats to the VaTech fans and your team - As an ACC fan, I'll be pulling for your team during the bowl season ..................... BUT remember, pay backs are H*LL and basketball season starts tonight!

It was Maryland's offence.
That was just to painful to watch.

To me, that tells you how important the QB is to a team. Rather you want to talk about college or professional.
This is the first year that Friedgen has coached MD without a good QB. Look at Amato at nc state. Rivers leaves and his team don't make it to a bowl a game, for the first time in 5 years being there.

Nice sentiments there. I'm sorry your Terps didn't show up last night. It was actually a little painful to watch for us Hokies too. You never want to see a good program embarassed. Most of us have got nothing against MD, and a closer game would probably have given us better momentum going into next game with UVA. I'd rather be competing with MD for the ACC title rather than UVA, Miami, and FSU. They are 3 of the 4 most hated rivals for most VT fans. (WVU being the other)
I hope Friedgen can get things back in gear next year and I know that our games in the future will be a lot more interesting.
We'll look forward to getting thrashed during the B-ball season this year. Hopefully our recruiting for B-ball will pick up now that we've joined a legit B-ball conference. Maybe we'll be able to compete in that sport eventually.

I agree here, although the two fans who were taunting in front of the north end zone stands last night were asking for a fight (and I think they might have got one by the time the night was done).
I do like the Fridge, whats hes done with the program and his attitude towards the game. I was dissapointed when he snubbed Frank at the end of the game, but he was understandably upset. I do believe that Maryland will be back to compete for the ACC title next year.
is it tech's defense or umd's offense?
I would say a combination of both. While Statham made some ugly throws, he did have heat on him all the team and the WRs and Vernon Davis were pretty well covered.

FP1, what did Friedg do to Beamer? I fell asleep early after a long week. Any details would be greatly appreciated.

Well it looked like Beamer was going to give a friendly embrace/hug because they are tight, but Fridge just kept on walking and kinda shrugged it off.

Actully for the Hokies it was the best way to win the game. If you beat an inferior team in a close game you don't carry much momentum to a game against a team (UVA) that could be better then you. I have nothing against UMD but even before the game I knew that the best thing for my Hokies would be a blow out going into another huge 2 game stretch. These are the types of games that we have a knack of choking on so yeah, I'm happy it was 55-6.

I can see where you're coming from, and that may be the case for a lot of teams, but for our Hokies, a big win like that usually leads to a suprising loss. I've seen us win big like this and come back the next game and lose to a bad team more times than I can count. I don't know if we get cocky and think we're unbeatable or what. It seems that they get in a mode where they think they can't lose and become lackadaisical
Hopefully this years team is different. The way they've played so far says they are, but history says they aren't. We'll find out on Saturday. If they can get the intensity from Thurday night to carry over, we'll see another blow out.
But, based on what we've seen for the past 11 years or so, a big win like this can hurt us more than help us.
