I just hope they don't call them the Nats! It reminds me of being down on the river in the summer time trying to keep the bugs off!

I just hope they don't call them the Nats!I've got bad news for you, Robert. That's exactly what they'll be called most of the time. They used to do it with the Senators, too.

i concur with the name and logo.. it's pretty nice. some ppl complain about it looking like the All-Star logo or for being too conservative looking but it represents the nation's capital with due respect.

Wilbon on PTI did say that they're going to release an alternate logo pretty soon and that it's better...

I prefered the senators but I can live w/ the Nationals, I actually like it.

I can't say I like the logo at all. It looks like a conference logo not a team logo. And what will the mascot be? Put a colonial face, a monument, something that can be the 'face' of the team. It's a baseball and stars?!

DJ where can get my tickets and how much? I wouldn't mind paying RFK a visit.

I like the team name. I like the logo. I like the script W. I like the colors. They're on a roll right now. Can't wait to see the jerseys, this "alternate logo," and a few different-colored hats (like white).

All I can is that I love the fact that DC got a baseball team. Now that DC has a baseball team, they are just like some city that have four major prosports teams such as Philly, Chicago, and Boston. As for the new name, I like it. Besides watching a game, I look forward to going to RFK Stadium and absorb the atmosphere which was once the home of our beloved Redskins. Baseball at RFK will be great as far as I'm concerned. Washington, D.C. is a lovely city.

I heard on the radio today that back in the old days they were called the Nationals as well as the Senators. Then in 195? they became just the Senators. I didn't know that before.

It's inevitable, I suppose. It's one of those things I dislike about sports these days, nearly every team nickname has a nickname. The only ones that don't are the ones where the nickname is too short to begin with, in which case, they make a nickname that is longer than the original, i.e. Cubs becoming Cubbies. I am not a big fan of catch phrases, other than Censored by Spence, so I don't know why team nicknames need nicknames themselves.

Think about it.

BoSox
Yanks
Cards
Nats
'Stros
Phils
Boys (appropriate, but irritating nonetheless)
Jints
9ers
Hawks
Nats
Sens
'Spos

and the list goes on.......

Feel free to add your own.

Finally, I would like to add that my favorite truncation of a team nickname is definately COCKS, short for the USC Gamecocks. Now that is one I can live with.

White baseball hats? They won't be white for long. They will look like a bunch of college frat boys after the first homestand.

Only 81-game season tix are currently available. Single game and multi-game plan tickets will be sold in the near future.

Check out the seating/pricing chart.

I'm getting anyone I know who owns a business to buy season tickets. I get a seat when I want and they can deduct the cost.
