Shaggy, I can't agree with any Western Confernce All Star lineup that doesn't include Kevin Garnett or Tim Duncan. Garnett is 10th in scoring [23.1 ppg] and first in rebounding [15 rpg]. Duncan is 8th in scoring [23.4 ppg] and 2nd in rebounding [12.9 rpg]. Duncan is third in block shots [3.06 bpg] and Garnett is 10 [2 bpg]. In overall efficiency--how the team does when that player is in the game--Garnett is tops overall and Duncan is third. How do these guys not make the starting lineup?

And what about Kobe Bryant and Amare Stoudemire? Bryant is 1st in scoring and Stoudemire is third. They are both also in the top ten in efficiency. Kobe is also 9th in the NBA in assists! First in scoring and in the top ten in assists! That's a truly incredible statistic.

It also shows how far the Lakers have fallen...

Kobe is trying to play all the instruments in the band. He will either pass out from exhaustion or his numbers will dip severely by mid season.

Kobe, Duncan, and Garnett are all guarenteed to get in. The fact is they are easily the most recognizable names in the NBA and will be starters based solely on that fact.

Boozer is having a VERY strong year with much less on his team then either Duncan or Garnett. Nowitzki has been virtually unstoppable this season on offense and has improved his defense. I think he definitely deserves the all star nod and at this point in the season I would even consider him the MVP over any of the other guys you listed. The Mavs lost Nash and they actually look like a better team in a large part due to Nowitzki.

As for Ray Allen over Kobe. Allen is shooting 45% from 3 pt range, 93% on Free Throws (9th in the NBA), and 7th in the NBA in scoring. He is also doing this without any solid post player on his team (I do not count Rashard Lewis as a post player as he does most of his scoring outside). I think based on how well the Sonics have been this year with how bad they probably SHOULD be gives Allen a slight edge over Kobe.

Amare isn't a center and I couldn't justify putting him in over Boozer or Nowitzki. Nowitzki I just think is a overall better player then Amare and for Boozer I think if the roles were reversed he would have numbers just as strong as Amare. Boozer is playing for a Jerry Sloan team which since the retirement of Stockton has played a slowed down defensive game in which they don't score a lot of points and operate out of almost entirely half court sets. Pheonix plays a very high tempo running game in which Amare gets a vast majority of his points on uncontested dunks. Of the 4 or 5 games I've seen of the Suns this year even out of the half court he's gotten a lot of very easy points based solely on the ability of Nash to break down the other team and then make pinpoint passes for Amare for easy putbacks. When I have watched the Jazz about 3 or 4 times the points I've seen Boozer get have mostly been hard earned in the post or on offensive rebounds. Not nearly as much fast break points or easy buckets that Amare gets.

It's a dream come true for him JimReap...he always wanted to be the star and he got his wish. He's the best, he'll tell you that!

My AS Starters:
East
G - L James (the King is crowned)
G - D Wade (torn between Wade and Francis)
F - A Jamison(Antwan should be nicknamed "The Difference!")
F - V Carter(no help for Vinsanity, he just gets it done)
C - S O'Neal(Big Aristotle is bringin' the Heat!)

West
G - Kobe(Maybe AS MVP, but no more Finals for Kobe)
G - S Nash (somebody is gettin' Amare the ball, sorry TMac)
F - K Garnett (the Ticket is second best)
F - T Duncan (the best forward, period)
C - Y Ming (May as well go with the China vote...)

Should be fun to watch this year...

Maybe I should start the timer on the Kobe meltdown...

Be careful what you wish for....

He is going to go for averaging 50 points a game like Wilt.....

The lakers will be 5 - 77 but Kobe's numbers will be good

Amare isn't a center.Amare is a center. He plays center for the Phoenix Suns. There isn't a center in the West who can compare with him right now.

Thanks. The ballot makes no sense, though. Stoudemire plays center for the Suns. Therefore, he should be on the ballot for center. Very, very weird. I hadn't see the ballot and was just going by where they play on their teams. Well, I guess he can't be the starting center, though I think that's pretty preposterous. I can't think of anyone in the NBA playing better than Stoudemire, Duncan and Garnett. And Stoudemire's team has the best record in the NBA.

Getting points in transition and on fast break is one of the things I love about Stoudemire. He's a fantastic defensive player [already much better than Nowitzki could ever hope to be] and he still gets out with the jackrabbits and makes plays in the early offense. He's such an up-tempo and high-effort player. I'm a big fan of Nowitzki, but his defense and his complete lack of offensive rebounding are demerits in my eyes.

I do love Nowitzki, though. Too bad they can't have Stoudemire, Duncan, Garnett, and Nowitzki all starting. Man, the West has got all the bigs, aside from Shaq. In the West, Jamison couldn't even make the All Star team, let alone start on it.

Well I did have to laugh at last years all star game when they were talking about using a lineup for the west of
C: Shaq
PF: Duncan
SF: Garnett
SG: Dirk
PG: Kobe

Unfortunately they never actually put that lineup out on the floor but it was interesting to imagine. I do really enjoy watching Amare but when it comes down to it I just really feel Boozer is really underappreciated in the league and no one really knows about him. But he just continually puts up numbers with no exposure or press and is just as good as many of the other top flight PFs in the league.

Smart career move on Jamisons part. He will post better numbers going against inferior talent in the east. He and Shaq may have started a trend. Come to think of it, I bet Stevie Franchise is happy he is out here, too.
