View Full Version : What about Travis Henry?

He's a big strong powerful back like Bettis. With the miserable year he had and the rising stock of McGahee, Henry will likely be on the block this offseason.
If he doesn't demand to much I think it would be a great pickup. Henry could be a 3rd down back or could be useful in goaline situations.

If you sign Travis Henry he is the starting running back.

Travis Henry will want to be a starting tailback and he's got the numbers to back up his ambition. He also wants to be paid like a starter. Clinton Portis is in the first season of a $50.5 million contract.

The NFL has a little thing called a salary cap...

We already have one of the finest, elite running backs in the game. We just have to fit the system to fit his style. Period. We need to concentrate on offensive line and finding receivers that are willing to not give up on routes and catch the balls that hit them in the hands.

He should go to Oakland

Signing Henry with Portis on the roster would be as smart as signing Chris McAllister with Springs/Smoot on the roster. (Not smart)

We already have talent and money invested in the RB (and CB) position, and we have needs elsewhere....

The only RB's we need to sign are 250 lb H-backs.

Unless he wants to take a shot at O-line, he isn't needed on the skins.

the redskins nead another running back like they nead Brunell starting at quarterback again.

Here's an idea....we bring back Bruce Smith. Then trade him to the 49ers for their 1st round draft pick. There has to be a market for the career sack leader!

I thought for sure there would be no more references to Old 78.

Since we were talking "unthinkable" happenings, I thought I'd throw this bone to the dogs.

What, no one likes this idea? lol

travis henry is 5'9" 215.....that really doesnt sound like a big back to me.

we do not need a new runningback. on the other hand, a new OL would be nice......

Are we getting rid of Portis already??

Some threads lately have hinted getting rid of Gibbs, Portis, Arrington... what's going on around here????

Henry could have a new career somewhere but it won't be here, now if we didn't sign Portis he would be worth going after but since we traded for clinton, we don't need him

bruce Smith maybe with all the Giants injuries on DL we might just see him :D

Portis is one of the highest paid backs in the league. He has 2 straight 1500 yard seasons and will likely get atleast 1200 yards this season behind a bad offensive line and a non existent passing game. HE is our starting RB and will remain the starting running back for MANY MANY more years.

Travis Henry.......no

Now if you said Stephen Davis....that might warrant a discussion considering Carolina is probably going to go with a younger, cheaper and faster Foster.

A compliment or change of pace back is what we seek. Portis is a ferrari so we need a dump trunk as a compliment.

Stephen Davis (at a greatly reduced salary) might be the answer

Okay, we ran this on into the ground. I'm closing the thread. Move along now. Nothing to see here.
