Q: Talking about the offense ... we’ve heard this week from Joe Bugel about a lack of motivation, and you talked about how Gregg Williams is a “cyborg” coaching the other side, and how that’s a big part of the way they play. It’s also been suggested that there may be some prima donna types on the offensive side. What’s your take on what is going on there?
A: Well, there are different dynamics between offense, defense and special teams. All three require a different mind-set. The effort is there—I don’t question the effort—but they’re in a funk offensively. Teams do get in a funk, and they do have bad games. Everybody drops passes, misses blocks, misses throws, that’s part of the game. But ... out of 10 or 11 weeks, we ought to be able to say they had one breakout game where it all worked. They had a breakout running attack in the Chicago game, yet [the game] was still a nail-biter. There ought to be one opponent on that schedule that you can flex your muscles against ...
