Derby Owners Club is the 8-person horse racing game found at your local Jillians or Dave & Busters. I was at the White Flint Mall yesterday, and it looks really cool.

Apparently you can train horses, race them, and also breed them.

Here is what it looks like...

Anyone ever play? I've heard it is really addicting. I've been tempted to play, but it looks so damn complicated, and everyone who plays looks likes experts and they bring notebooks to track their races.

I really want to learn more...

HELL YEAH!!!!!

I didn't want to be a geek and mention it in the other thread... (not that you are a geek)

That game is addicting. You breed horses, train them, obviously race them, all the while collecting the horses information on little cards. People collect the cards (horses) for future races and breeding combinations. I think the game is sweet but wouldn't have the time to invest like some of the pros.

I met a guy who keeps a database on his and OTHER horses performance. Most of the pros have a three ring binder with pages and pages of cards(horses).

yea i played this once before, once you train a horse up and get him in good shape(winning some races) you can actually sell it on ebay. I have seen many ppl pay top dollar for the cards.

Yeah I play that game. It's fun as hell. Even my girlfriend plays it. It drains your wallet, but at least you enjoy it.

Dude...I wish one of you guys lived in VA so you could show me how to play.

Any advice for a brand new rookie who wants to show up and start? Any particular ettiquette I should know about?

Don't ask the guy with the biggest three ring binder, he is serious. Find the one with a few cards saved up in his "stable" and start a conversation. He will probably offer you a couple good horses to breed one for yourself because he is so proud of his collection so far.

Also, pay attention to the different horse styles. Some you can get on the whip early, while others you have to wait until the home stretch. It takes practice but you'll get the hang of it. If I was in the area I'd show you what I know, hell I'd even let you buy the first round of Irish car bombs! :)

And if you ever do come back to this area, I'll take you up on that!

Yeah, there is a good website that escapes me right now with good information about whipping the horses and different race styles. I'll be up on either side of Christmas and you could breed from some of my horses if you like. Let me know.

I'd definitely be interested. Let me know when you will be in town. I'm off of work the week after Christmas...

It's an arcade game that you can find in bars and such. It's still growing stateside, but apparently huge in Hong Kong and Korea.

Mike~ Don't apologize!

Its a game that can be found at the ESPN Sports Zone, Jillian's or Dave & Busters. Basically...any of the big "adult arcades".

See the picture below. Its a simulated horse racing game, where you breed, train and race your own horses.

thank you Mark and Brandon. Looks pretty cool. I can see why it would cost a lot of money. [someone mentioned that it keeps your pockets empty]

I wouldn't have the patience for a game like that.

Quick follow up. SkinsKY and I hung out at Dave & Busters and he taught me the ropes of the game. I'm an instant fan.

Thanks for the mentoring, KY!
