ANAHEIM, Calif. --There is no city that believes in clout more than Washington. So it should come as no surprise that the soon-to-be Washington Nationals have told the Cubs they are interested in pursuing a trade for slugger Sammy Sosa.
Sosa was eager to go to New York in June 2000, when the Cubs were trying to trade him to the Yankees, but Washington fits Sosa's cultural interests every bit as much as New York. So that alone makes this seem to be a deal that makes sense for both sides

Not to sure the objective is behind this. He's not the same player he was 3-5 years ago.
I think the Nationals are interested in this soley on the thoughts of having a big name player to draw attendance to a new team.

My thoughts exactly. Sosa strikes out too much but he would be fun to watch when he sends balls into the seats at RFK.

I wouldn't touch Sosa with a ten-foot cattle prod.

Me neither. I don't want a player that leaves his team on the last game, and actually leaves the stadium before the games over. I don't like players like that. Oh, and he corks his bat.

Sosa would be a disaster. This guy hit like below .250 last year. Plus he's gotta be the next guy to be outed for roids. Sounds like a perfect fit for the Mets, they can keep him.

I sure hope not....
I would prefer a young player without the bad attitude and the baggage.

Sosa's days as a premier player are done. From what I've read..
many scouts say his bat speed has slowed considerably. And if
you've watched him the last few years...there's some validity to
that opinion.

If he is willing to take a significant cut in pay then why not?

I gotta admit him and guillen would be a great 1-2 combo but hes too old..the national are a pretty young team right now...i say we should gor for the 3rd baseman from the dodgers, adruian beltre. Carlos eltran would be nice to :)

Sosa would be a galactically stupid pickup.....we do not need an aging, selfish player taking up a roster spot from a younger guy.

I wouldn't touch Sosa with a ten-foot cattle prod.
I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot hypodermic syringe filled with illegal anabolic substances.

Ummmmmm, if we could not afford Perez in the rotation, what makes anyone think we will be ble to afford Sosa's contract in a trade?
