Samuels is playing well as of late and I am taking my stand on the side of keeping him and offering him a paycut.

As much as he doesn't earn his paycheck he still is a good tackle and if he would take a pay cut to 4 million a year then I say do it.

I know that I have been a big fan of trading him but I am changing my opinion, he is playing like he wants to stay here.

He played extremely well tonight, it's a shame we didn't run more his way, he was moving some people. Him and Dockery.

He has played well lately, but he has to take a pay cut to stay with us. I would like to keep some continuity on the line.

I think most of us would be fine with keeping him if he takes a reasonable pay cut, that's a big if but he has played well as of late.

If we want to resign Smoot and Pierce, Samuels will have to take a cut

I also think that keeping Samuels willinsure that we trade down and end all the Mike Williams talk because their is no way we can afford to keep Samuels and sign Smoot and Pierce and get a top 5 pick.

Hello Elton Brown.

Or take a DE... :)

I agree the DE position was higlighted as a need despite the strong play of Renaldo Wynn.

What we would do ideally in my mind is trade down with San Diego let them get Mike Williams and we get their 2 1sts and then go

1{15} Elton Brown

1{27} DE Justin Tuck

That way we don't have the risk of picking a DE to early, because OL are always usually decent players.

Hello Elton Brown.

I think EB has the size and speed to make a pretty damn good tackle, if we were forced to let Samuels go.

But I don't think Thomas or Dockery would make a good switch to center. Obviously we can't keep Raymer or Friedman.

Maybe a Molinaro or a Wilson would make a good center conversion.

But I think we should try to find a center in addition to bolstering our defensive line, and maybe a true fullback.(Kyle Eckel if he wasn't at the naval academy =\ )

I have no problem at all with that. :)

I think Samuels is as good as gone. One good game dosen't erase many bad games especially given what he's paid. The entire O-line last night was a very weak link for us. Philly has scrubs in there a lot and did you see #91 just beat Raymer & Thomas like a drum?? Kearse had a field day against Coolley, Brown et al. This O-line will need a MAJOR overhaul this offseason and it's going to start with Samuels. A team cannot pay 10+ million to a LT and accept the level performance on a week by week basis we get from him. I don't think a "pay cut" is in the minds of Samuels and his POS agent Jimmy Sexton. JMO.

I am not sure who is starting these trade/release Samuels rumors but he is not going anywhere.

As far as the line last night they should have dominated with so many Eagles starters on the bench hurt. Ray Brown was simply owned by Kearse and I have to fault gibbs for not helping him. Kearse kept the pressure on ramsey all night and made all the plays.

Ray Brown should be expecting flowers or some Preperation H because kearse abused him last night.

I would not be surprised to see some majors changes on the O-Line. The one thing this team is missing from previous Gibbs teams is a GREAT offensive line. They weren't just adequate or effective, as ours is becoming. They were AWESOME. Our current o-line is at times quite good...but a good pass rusher can eat us alive. Kearse got so many good rushes and solid pushes it's amazing we didn't give up more sacks. I say we will spend some considerable effort this post-season fixing these weaknesses.

Samuels will be offered a nice contract (about the same as Jansen) - but he'll be offered a better one by other teams in need of a solid tackle (wouldn't be surprised if it were Cinny either). It will come down to - does he want to remain with this team and be part of something special OR is $$$ his priority.

Do you really think Sameuls is going to take a pay cut? I hope so, but I think a restructure is more likey - so he'll get another bonus, even though he doesn't really deserve it. Bottom line, I hope he's on this team next year since LT is a hard position to fill.

i think he stays with some sort of restructuring of his deal...not sure if itd be a paycut or what...something to free up cap liek vinny n danny alwasy do...i actually like that idea of brown and tuck or another de...i just hate all the brown talk cuz its obvious we need de help...not because i dont like the guy but i think de then wr/te would be more priorities cuz we need playmakers at both those positions...but to address taht and get brown would def work, i think hed be a guy that could play many pos well on the line and push samuels and dockery...two guys thats play is inconsistent and maybe a push for pt would help

Hold up a minute.Kearse should be facing RT Jon Jansen for hopefully the next 5 years.Brown(who usually plays GAURD)turned 42 last night.Safe to say that this will more than likely be his last year in the NFL.The line has done a decent job considering the weekly juggling mostly due to injuries.Letting Samuels go would be a huge mistake.I might be wrong but I dont think the eagles had a sack until late in the 4th.They protected him fairly well and Portis had good holes to run through exspecially in the 1st half.PENALTIES COST US THAT GAME LAST NIGHT.The offense for the most part moved the ball only to have a stupid penalty kill the drive. That is one of the most shocking things about this season.I know we need another WR to play opposite Coles.Gardner and McCants(what the hell was he thinking putting a wrestling move on his man who had no shot of making a play anyways at the end of the 2nd quarter) has to be let go this off season NOT one of our better offensive linemen.I now am hoping we draft WR Mike Williams and pick up a decent WR during freeagancy. We must have another BIG WR( a Monk type)threat other than the tough but small Coles. :Peace:
