According to espn insider brown could possibly start to get shopped. It says that after a promising 3rd season he has fallen into the doghouse, and hasn't contributed much. It says that other gm's are "drooling" at the chance to get an athletic 22 year-old 7-0 270 punder, who is slowly becoming a center. They say that we could get a top-flight small forawrd, as well as a defensive minded big man.

When did Kwame put on 30lbs?
I thought that he was around 240.

He is absolutely enormous now. Outside of shaq, i think he is the biggest player in the east, maybe the nba. OK well i forgot iglauskus, yao ming, and his teamate peter john ramos. I guess he's the 2nd largest american in the nba then.

He is a big man now. That's what happens when you get hurt an get minimal playing time...Wonder where he'll top off at.

I haven't read the article, but from what I've been told it was pure
speculation.
It basically said he had been a "non factor" this season....while neglecting to mention he has barely played....and also didn't mention his ankle surgery. He also quoted an "old" Wizards source saying he doubted Kwame would ever become anything in Washington.
The title of it was "Trade Kwame?".
It was essentially a question he made up himself.......therefore he had no answers.
Just getting his article quota in I suspect.

I think this team would be a huuge threat if u add a good swingman to the sf spot...some ont who plays good D and decent O. I would love to have someone like andre kirlenko(spelling?)but i doubt that happens...What about caron butler from the lakers? Good young player who almost one roy a couple years ago.

I'll believe it when I see it. The Bullets won't move Kwame until they've had a good look at him themselves.

You should see Kwame. He's as strong as a ox.
Kwame actually held his ground when Shaq attempted
to post up.

I had no idea he was that big now. I have held true to my anti-Abe Pollin stance and I haven't watched a game all year.

Assuming that Kwame's dust up with EJ is an isolated incident..
the Bullets better see what they have before making any deals.

I thought that he treated Jordan like dirt, but that is a previous debate that really doesn't need to be rehashed.

Is that how the Wizards magnificently held Shaq to only 40 points???

Lol..nope. Kwame wasn't guarding him for the majority
of the time.

Well if we are judging kwame based off Shaq's numbers we are doomed. The fact is Miami has the best center in the league. Kwame could have cloned himself and shaq would have hung twenty on both Kwames.
The fact that Kwame was not guarding shaq makes kinda shoots that claim down anyways. I think Kwame is going to be a better than average player real soon. Talented players with his size are not easy to come by so if Kwame is indeed on the Market Ernie had better get something Big and talented in return.

Trust me Jim..Kwame is not on the market. At least not yet.

personally, i think the bullets could trade kwame for ron artest and big ron would put up better numbers. it normally takes high schoolers 3 years to get accustomed to the NBA(dont mention lebron). how long will fans keep holding out on kwame?

I think if Kwame is moved he will be packaged with Larry Hughes to try and really upgrade the post position. I would hate to see Larry go but I just get the feeling he isnt going to be here for much longer.
Im really torn with Kwame. I want to keep him around for a couple reasons. One is his obvious potential and the other is that he was drafted by us. Im tired getting all our talent from FA. On the other hand I dont know if he is smart or confident enough to really make it in the league. Yeah he shows flashes but when he plays bad he REALLY plays bad.
I wonder if a deal for Camby or Nene would be possible.

It was reported that the Clippers offered Chris Wilcox for Eddy Curry. I'd have to believe they would offer a similar deal for Kwame. I'm not sure if Wilcox is what we want but he averaged 15 pts. and 7 rebounds a game while starting at Center for injured Chris Kamen. Maybe a guy to give some thought to especially if they will throw in a draft pick as well.

Kwame is a 7 footer.....
If you trade a 7 footer you better get another 7 footer in return

Wilcox is 6'10" only 2 inches smaller then Kwame. He also plays with a helluva lot more heart then Kwame has ever shown in a Wizards uniform.

Actually Wilcox isn't 6'10". He measured out at more like 6' 8" 3/4...
or so I heard on draft night.

Kwame for Sweetney and Jerome Williams?
The Junkyard Dog is th ekind of player we need. An athletic, big, rebounder, who doesn't need the ball a lot to score 10 points, and he always kill sus, so we might as well pick him up.
That brings me to another point:
Instead of having players like earl boykins kill us multiple times a season, we should just find a way to bring them in. I figure that alone is good for 3 more wins.

i hate jerome williams attitude. does one thing a game and celebrates like crazy for it.

Knicks won't part with Sweetney at all they are too high on the kid. Also Jerome Williams contract is monsterous and still has a couple of years left on it. For that reason alone I wouldn't touch the guy. I think if we deal Kwame it will be for an expiring contract so we have more money to resign Hughes and go after a FA in the offseason.
An Idea would be Kwame for Antoine Walker and a future 1st round pick. I'm not particularly fond of this idea but it would give us more cap room to pursue other players with Walker's near max contract expiring this year.

Walker is the last thing we need. We need more post presence and Walker doesnt move inside the arc

I wasn't saying that we need him for the court but I'm just using him as an example of a possible trade. If we deal Kwame we are not going to get a developing talent or star player. We will likely end up with an overpaid player in the last year of his contract such as Walker.

12-16-2004, 04:15 PM
thats why i dont think Kwame is going anywhere unless he is packaged with Hughes. There isnt going to be any good value for him alone.
ShaggySkins
12-16-2004, 04:39 PM
But if he decides to leave at the end of the season or if we don't think he's worth the money dealing him for an expiring contract or some picks would be better then letting him walk away for nothing.

trading him for draft picks is fine with me. Someone like Walker is not since we wouldnt really be getting anything anyway.

If I had my choice I would call Golden State and see if we couldn't trade Kwame for Michael Pietrus and a 1st rounder next year. The Warriors have been trying to trade Pietrus for Eddy Curry so I can't imagine why he wouldn't be on the block for Kwame either. Pietrus is a very good defender who can play the 2 or 3. He is just stuck behind Jason Richardson in Golden State. If he came here he could really improve the defense which is needed and could also be a replacement if Hughes was to leave next year.

Wilcox is truly 6'9 and would stand an even smaller chance against Shaq. Maybe Wilcox has plenty more heart than Kwame, but I do not make that deal.

we have enough 2's and 3's on the team already. Getting more isnt going to help us when we are going against teams like miami, detroit and the west. Our back court is pretty good right now.

Wilcox was averaging 15 pts and 7 rebounds a game playing Center in the western conference when he was starting for Kamen. I'm not sure what Kwame averaged last year and this but I don't think it is 15 and 7.
