Good read. Nice to see Cooley getting some respect. he's definately a guy that Ramsey looks for when no ones open.

Its nice to see Cooley gettin some love! He's really impressed this season, probably the sleeper offensive guy for the skins this year. My friend who is a HUGE Raven's fan who rarely talks good about any other player from another team. Especially the redskins. He told me after the Philly game "that Cooley kid looks like a mini Todd Heap making those clutch catches" Trust me when I say that those words coming from his mouth is like Michael Moore saying "Wow that George Bush is one hell of a president." Yes, I was speachless when he told me that. GO COOLEY!!!!

It would've been nice if he didn't drop that TD pass......

I disagree with him in that Cooley isn't a part of the base offense.

With Cooley, Ramsey, Coles, and Portis we will have a feared offense next year. Just a little O line help is all we need on offense.

Cooley is COOL!! Had to say it!! :)

I really had a chance to watch him on Sunday night (I don't get many games). I am VERY impressed at how well he plays. Asset to the team!!

Yeah, I think that is incorrect also.

Thanks for that link!
Chris Cooley IS a core Redskins player. He is certainly a bright spot and steal from the draft. In hindsight, he's a first rounder. JG it was worth it!

Clearly, the Skins' quarterback change has resulted in an increased role for Cooley, who has taken over Rod Gardner's role as the secondary receiver in the Washington offense. All five of Gardner's touchdowns this season came with Mark Brunell under center, and he hasn't had more than four catches or 35 yards in a single game since week eight.

This is a very telling stat. Great read overall.

You know, when I first saw that play, I thought Ramsey overthrew it, but looking at it from the endzone angle, it looks like Cooley mistimed his jump, because the ball was pretty much thrown perfectly, I thought.

It was slightly overthrown but Cooley did in fact tell Gibbs that he mistimed his jump on that play. Gibbs reported that on the news yesterday.

On a side note, Portis was completely uncovered coming out of the backfield. If Patrick had thrown it to him, it would have bee a certain TD. It looked like the same release he (Portis) ran in the Packer game, the TD that was called back.

This was a very nice article. Couple this with the one on the front page and Cooley has been getting some good exposure these days. Thanks for the read.

Also, yeah, he dropped that TD, but you won't see that very often from him.

That really is interesting. I put my money that Gardner has played his last season in Washington. Hopefully we can pick up a 3rd or fourth rounder for him.

No pretty much about it. That ball was thrown perfectly and didn't even require a jump.......Just stick your arms out....

well like he said he mistimed his jump and missed it, it was his fault. the pass was perfect and he messed up. but at least he isnt playing like gardner and dropping every other pass thats thrown his way. hes been doing his job better than anyone expected him to and hes now one of the top h-backs/te in the league. it will be good to watch his progression as he gets older and more experienced.
