I get the feeling she calculated this just right. Casted an amendment and vote to sink the deal, comes in for the save, makes the save, and then it looks liek SHE delivered baseball to DC, not Mayor Williams.

I don't care how it happens so long as it happens.

Same for me. I don't know if she calculated the whole thing or realized she's an idiot from the backlash, but I just want a team.

I'd bet that baseball is dead in DC. They may play in 05 at RFK if they have no viable alternative but long term no chance IMO.

According to MLB, they have several contingency plans if the financing isn't taken care of. It's not automatic that they will play here in 2005 despite all of this.

There are numerous "neutral locations" in America to accommodate large crowds, protection, emergency services, airports, hotels, etc.
What seperated this city from most, was its venue, immediate fan base, media and marketing.
Did you know Cropp wasn't telling the truth, that "D.C." residents were to finance the stadium.
If you read in great detail, the money rotates from revenue, but business spinoffs were to generate more money than she's ever seen, with building dominating Anacostia, bringing back a VERY STRONG, African American presence in business, social, economics, political representation. No need to pussy-foot around with all the "around the bush" jargon.
This is about more than baseball, we all knew that Cropp - DUH!.
We know about geography, cultural differences, needs and wants. You're not the only educated, inner-city, Washingtonian growing up from the 60's!
Just remember HOW you looked at the world in 2004, with the glass you held in your hand. Was it half full or half empty to you?
First clean the cup from the inside, then the outside.
If you don't have a cup, what's the philosophy?

No way Cropp looks like the savior in all this. Everyone knows that Tony Williams and Jack Evans have been negotiating this deal for the last 2 years. For Adrian Fenty and Cropp to say they weren't kept in the loop is political maneuvering of the worst sort.....and it's disingenuous to say the least.
The council needs to get over itself.............
