Redskins Game Day show on Fox Channel 5 here in DC came out to my house to do the “Bandwagon” section of the show for the 49’ers game yesterday.
The show will air at 11:00am on 12/26.
Back in August , I was at the Redskins training camp, and there was a table set up where people were filling out a survey about being a diehard Redskins fan. So I filled it out not knowing that it was Fox Channel 5 TV doing the survey. I told them about my Redskins room, my skins tattoo, how long I have been a Redskins fan, and the DTC. A week or so later, I got a call from Fox 5, saying that they would like to do this show at my house for one of the games this year.
I said “Sure, why not.”
Several friends and some of the Dead Tree Crew were there yesterday, and we all had a blast.
It also didn’t hurt that the Skins had WON.
The 2 guys from Fox 5 that came out to do the show were great. I think they had almost as much fun as we did.
They interviewed myself first, and also showed some of my Redskin room. While I was showing my room, I stopped and showed them my "Salute to the Redskins Marching Band" poster that has my uncle's pic in it from when he was in the band back in the 50's at Griffith Stadium.
I also gave props to the band, and the Funky Four, with a shout out to Mike and Kenny. I also mentioned hailredskins.com.
Then they interviewed smoot21, gibby56, and cowboykilla, the founding members of the DTC. They were going to interview RiggoRanger and Pez also, but the game was about to start, so they ran out of time to do it.
Thito_da_skins_fan was going to be there too, but couldn’t make it because he was at his company Christmas party.
Then they filmed us watching and reacting to the game.
I wanted to invite everyone in the DTC for this, but I didn’t have a room large enough for all. With a dozen of us there, it was all the room could handle.
Sorry, guys.
Fox 5 also told me that they are going to come out to do one of our tailgates next season, so that is something I will be looking forward too.
That should be interesting. :lol1:

Congratulations, Dave. It was a well-deserved piece of recognition for a seriously die-hard fan. It's fans like you that are helping the "snowball effect" of this 12th Man's revival. Congrats to you and the DTC...I hope to meet up with you guys real soon.

Thanks, everyone.
We had a great time doing it.
I want to thank everyone who was there on Saturday.
I also wanted to say a special "Thanks" to my wife, for all she did with the food, putting up with the invation to our house :lol1: and for putting up with ME!!!!!!
I have been a wreck the past 2 weeks getting ready for this, and knowing I was going to be on TV. I didn't want to say anything about this until it had already been filmed. With my luck, I would have told everyone, and then we would have had a big snow storm, and no one would be able to come up to do the show.
I would say it went very well for the most part. I wouldn't really change anything that happened, but I would of liked to have done a couple of things a little differently, but for the most part, I was happy with everything.
Now, I guess I will have to wait until 11:00am Sunday morning to see how it was all edited. They got a round 3 hours of film they will have to get down to around 6 to 8 minutes for the show.
openallnight

Thanks, everyone.
I was happy with the segment for the most part.
There are a couple of things they should have included in the show that they cut. It would have shown the room better.
I guess Fox 5 wanted to do more with the DTC side of the show.
It was alot of fun doing it. I put in alot of work putting the room together, and it is far from being done. I still have some things to put up, and of course, I got to keep some room for all the new Super Bowl and Championship items I will hopefully be adding in the next few years. :)
I don't know if I would ever do a show at my house again, but I am looking forward to Fox 5 doing one of our tailgates next season.
After the show aired, I got alot of calls from family and friends saying they loved the show, but I also had some friends that were not happy that I didn't include them in it.
I told them just like I told other members of the DTC that were not there, that I only had enough room for the 12 of us. I wished I could have had everyone, and I hope there are no hard feelings.
The room was designed for 4 to 6 people to watch the games in.
Again, MAJOR props to RiggoRanger, smoot21, cowboykilla, gibby56, Pez, Huly (all from ES and Warpath), my friends Mike and Tina, and to my wife, Stephanie.
Y'all made that day very special for me.
