"I'm one of the guys that wants to be here," Clark said. "The only thing I'm looking at is for a situation where, if I do the right things, I'll be on the team. I've never been in a training camp with the feeling of being comfortable. That's what I'm trying to solidify. Hopefully, they won't look to get rid of me."

I'm starting to like him a lot. He is a pretty tough guy and I hope we don't lose him.

Those cushions were defensively designed, both corners were playing off. Let's not start blaming Jimoh now for the defensive calls that come on the field. Jimoh did pretty well yesterday. Did he give up a pass at all? Sure. So did Smoot. So did Harris, and so HAS Springs. Rarely do you shut someone out. Shoudl we really expect young Ade Jimoh to come in and give up ZERO passes. I guess before we sign Smoot, we shoudl demand that as well. We shoudl demand that our secondary NOT allow one single pass completion.

back to the subject at hand, ladies and gentlemen,
i do hope we keep clark. he'll be a good back up and valuable on special teams.

Actually, he's not improving. It was one game. I'd rather have Clark as a reserve over Jimoh.
I'm not going to give him anything until he does it week in and week out.

Jimoh did have a better game, but between Clark and him, there's not a choice to be made. Clark stay Jimoh goes.

You cant really compare the two, since Jimoh is a cornerback and Clark is a safety.
But i do like Clark and he is good depth at the safety position for when Bowen comes back.

I totally agree Mark. Jimoh can only be as successful as the scheme he is instructed to play. Smoot was giving the same 10yd cushions as Jimoh, and everyone else that lined up at CB yesterday.
I personally do see improvement in Jimoh. If you are basing your opinion on him giving up passes, then no you will not see it. However, when we are at home and I'm able to scan the entire field and not just what the TV screen allows, I see plays when Jimoh blankets his assignment. And, he contributes alot on STs.
Does anyone here really think that Gregg Williams would play this guy if he wasn't doing a good/decent job? The way that we have jettisoned players all year, Jimoh wouldn't be here, let alone on the field if he wasn't giving a level of play that he deems acceptable.

You can compare them by the level of play the impact they make and it is plain and simple Clark is a playmaker and Jimoh is not he should never be on the field unless a kicker or punter is out there.

why get rid of franz? he plays behind taylor... I would rather get rid of Pat Dennis.

i have not been impressed by franz at all when he gets into games. maybe its because of how he got beat like a rag doll on that blocked punt yesterday. i honestly think we should hold on to lott and clark to go along with taylor and bowen but add some more depth to the secondary.

If it were up to me, we'd get rid of both of those clowns. Along with Jimoh.
I'd rather have Clark backing up Bowen next year. Or playing CB on nickle formations....

I think that's the first time anyone has been able to say that about Jimoh, ever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Clark was originally a corner who switched to safety when we needed him there. I'd like to say how he does as a backup/nickel once Bowen comes back.

I think we need a better SS than all of the guys currently on the roster. ALl of the guys have weaknesses...
Bowen is as slow as a 2 leg dog and could not cover a 1960's robot. He is good on blitzes and has a great understanding of the game. he also delivers whoo-hits. Since Speed and coverage skills are a must I am not sure he gets his job back. I would keep bowen but as a backup.
Clark has the speed but neither the size nor the coverage skills to hang with the top TE's in the league. I would keep clark as a backup free safety.
The skins need to search the waiver wire/draft and come up with a guy who has the size speed and decent cover skills for the position. A free agent preferred.

I like Clark too. He was a "hip pocket" away from running downfield untouched with a pick, which would have pumped the score to 32-15. Nevertheless, he took away receivers, in the 3rd or even 4th option. Clark needs to stay for just being a solid secondary option and Special Teamer. If we can't keep him, then at least, like Jimreaper said, look at the wire.
There a bunch of guys packing at least 10-20 more pounds, a bit taller to see the field, flow of action.
Tennessee had a SB appearance and it was hurt by a Indianapolis native Blaine Bishop, (I worked with his mother, then at the Dept. of Defense), not being able to see the whole field, but had to defend a pass, arrived too late and also couldn't jump high enough with Isacc Bruce, landed awkwardly on his head, paralyzing him.
The biggest factor before the injury was his height, which was why he was overlooked by so many in the NFL. He did make 2 Pro Bowl appearances, besides his SB appearance. (starter and alternate). In the case of Gregg Williams defense, that height would normally be a factor, but Williams knows NOW, the safety that needed to be big, fast, brash, NASTY, and tough, was Sean Taylor. The way Bishop played was a notch or two above Clark.
Incidently, the name of the Defensive Coordinator, at the time, for the Tennessee Titan's superbowl appearance -- Gregg Williams.

jimoh has great size for a corner which is why i think he's been given every chance... you cant teach height... i just think the coaching staff is seeing how far he can go because if we have a corner with that height that always helps

Jimoh has struggled at times, but if you take away last season, he has been a solid contributor for the Skins. How many teams have a shut down fourth CB? he is what he is... a young who will play special teams and seems to love the Redskins. that is good enough for me.
FYI - i'd also love to keep clark. i wonder what we'll get out of bowen coming off an injurty?

no, clark has always been a safety. He played safety in college as well. But they said he was good in coverage situations.

Wasnt it just a few months ago that most of the posters on this board were convinced that Jimoh needed to be cut. You guys are reinventing the word 'fickle'.
Sure - Jimoh may have been playing at the level of an average 4th corner the last few games - but as Carmike has pointed out - his overall level of play has been less than stellar from the get go.

Garnell Wilds got in the game a bit too. Anyone get a feel for how he looked? It was hard for me to tell based on what they showed on the TV. Being a former Hokie, I'm rooting for him to perform well.

Deon Grant down in Jacksonville was on our Free agent get list.
He is doing a fabulous with the jaguars and Taylor and Grant would have given us the best safety combo in the league (even better than dallas).

I think we are doing pretty good with who we have. You cannot bring in top talent in free agency for 3rd or 4th corners, the cap will not allow us to do so. We can and will bring it with draft picks.
