To My Burgundy and Gold Bretheren:
I apologize in advance to the mods and others for breaking the "duplicate thread" rule, but I MUST be certain that every true fan uses every ounce of their positive energy and focused thoughts (not to mention a lucky rabbit's foot or 4-leaf clover) to make the following CORRECT and ACCURATE scenario occur next weekend. I did NOT want this to get lost in the very long thread that it currently resides in. Folks, this is a very feasible scenario - one that we could not have imagined as we sit at 5-9. Courtesy of Redskinfan28 (and others), please pray to the "Big Jack" in the sky for the following:
Next weekend...If we beat the Cowgirls, the Giants lose to the Bengals, the Saints lose to the Falcons, the Panthers lose to the Bucs, and the Rams lose to the Eagles, we will have earned the 6th and final playoff spot and control our own destiny in the finale against the Vikings. REPEAT - If the above occur, WE WILL BE IN THE 6TH AND FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT, RETURNING HOME TO PROTECT OUR BERTH AGAINST THE VIKINGS IN FRONT OF 92,000 DELIRIOUS AND RABID FANS.
I am a firm believer in shaping history with our positive thoughts and mental focus. Trust me, folks...with this defense, and our improving offense, we will be the NFC playoff's worst nightmare. The beauty of this 12th Man is that we never lose hope, and hope is still well alive right now...very alive.

its crazy, isnt it? the fact that we are 5-9 and STILL have the chance to make the playoffs. the scenario realy isnt all that far fetched. there is still a chance but it starts on 12/26 at dallass. if that game doesnt get your burgundy and gold blood flowing than you may not be alive.....

That is just unreal but We need to beat the crp out of Dallas this week and that is all we can worry about and if we need to beat Minny in our house on the final regular season game, just remember that Minny is hte best at final week chokes so this dallas game is so huge it is unreal

I believe that if Carolina wins this weekend we are out. That is the must game, the bucs have to win.

Nope...Sure, we NEED Carolina to lose, but we are not eliminated if they win. If Carolina loses ONE of their next two, they will finish with a worse conference record than us, assuming we win our next two of course. Again, the best case scenario is for BOTH the Panthers and Saints to lose this weekend.

I hear Ya SuperSkin!!! Not IF but WHEN this scenario plays out, it will be a FEDEX FIELD FESTIVAL for the Skins and the 92K on hand!
Let me go on record as saying NO TEAM and I mean NO TEAM wants to face the resurgent REDSKINS in the playoffs, NO TEAM!!!!
I would hate to work by me and not be a Redskin fan on Monday after the Skins beat the Vikes and clinch a playoff spot. I pity the doubters that have been dogging me all year…

the idiot announcers yesterday actually commented on the idea that the rest of the league is lucky they don't have to face this defense in the playoffs...oh how those words will come back to haunt some team...anyone up for some MAJOR partying after the vikes game??

Dude...aside from Tampa beating Carolina, I think all of that will happen. New Orleans can't handle Michael Vick, the Rams are just straight terrible...well, the G-Men might actually beat Cincy unless the Bengals get Carson back, then it will be lights out...are they playing in the Meadowlands or Cincy?
So we need to root for the Bucs, Falcons (most of us here do anyway), Bengals, and Eagles (OUCH, but I rooted for them yesterday because no one equals the hate I have for the Cowgirls)? Only one that sounds farfetched is the Bucs over the Panthers, but who knows. All we can do is just beat Dallas and take it from there.

Poetic justice Fent, poetic justice...I was going to sell mine 'cause my brother lives out in San Diego. I think I'll have to persuade him to fly into town and witness history in person...
This has the potential makings of an historic party to go along with the victory...WOW!

I think we can win our last 2-games. I would love to savor a victory against the Boys.
I'm sure Portis will be gunning for his extra yard so he can set that record.

I hear you. this is THE GAME to watch. Now if TB plays anywhere near as good as they did a couple of weeks ago in their house I say lights out. Their D can do it.

how glorious would it be to be the team to make sure the eagles lost the NFC division championship for the 4th year in a row?
if TO is still out at that time, our D wouldnt have to double cover any receivers and we could be much more damaging. mcnabb had agruably his worst game of the season against us 2 weeks ago, so he should be afraid!

are you cheering for us to beat your team?? all jokes aside, it would be REALLY awesome to see us ride our D like Baltimore did a couple years ago...the truly fun part (yes i'm getting jittery too TBFoster) is that our offense is playing MUCH better than Baltimore's did that year. Anything's possible....

It's unbelievable how we can have a shot at the playoffs.............but we do. It's not a long shot that we can win the rest of our games, and the above scenario can very well happen. All we can do is win these next two games, and pray that we'll be playing extra games while other teams watch from home.

I can just see the Eagles loose to the Rams on purpose to eliminate us before they have to face us a third time....Don't tell Andy Reid

Yes! Yes!
All I asked for in August was to be playing meaningful games in December and look where we are....doing just that! It boggles the mind to think, after all we've been through this season, that there's an opportunity to, perhaps, control our own destiny. Boy will Gibbs and Buges milk this for all it's worth. I think (and hope) we may see a new facet to this team on Sunday. Driven...desire...motivation...We've got everything to play for now. Like a last chance to recover our season.
Imagine this scenario....we host a wild card game at FedEx and make it to the championship game in Philly and DENY them the chance to go to the Super Bowl..which of course means...Gibbs gets to his 5th Super Bowl!

OK so its a given that we win out......Giants should lose to Bengals or wk 17 Dallas.....Rams could be a problem (except for the injury bug) they play the Eagles and the Jets both at home (greatest game on turf) I woulda loved to see one of thoes games on grass. the Saints and Panthers play each other in week 17 but the Falcons could take them out next week (Brooks and Vick are cousins)......TB could take out the on fire Panthers at home next week (Chucky has them playing tough) their D did great against NO last week and they played hard against SD the week before at home..........if everything comes off as planed this week I will be freakin at FedEx on the 2nd ....sec 125 row 10

we can't host...we'd be the last seed in the 6 spot so we'd be on the road the whole way

Thought I heard on WTEM this morning that there is a scenario where we could host either the Vikings or Green Bay for the wildcard game. I might have misunderstood...maybe they were talking about playing the Vikings the last game of the season and then having to go back up there for the wild card.

I just don't wanna get hurt again! [sniff] ok seriously, I keep telling people that we can still make it and that we're still mathematically alive. But they're all like "no we can't. The division leaders will make it and then the rest have to battle it out and we won't be one of them." That makes sense, but I don't think he had his facts straight. I should show him this.

I still can;t believe how possible it is to make the playoffs. That would be absoluterly nuts, but just think if we had won just 1 single frickin game against the giants, cowboys, browns, ravens, packers, or eagles (the second time). Those are the games i figure we were very close in, and had a great chance to win. With a little luck from the 2003 panthers team, we could be one of the best teams in the nfl.

I can't believe how possible... even probable... that is. In my mind, it all rests on the Eagles and the Bucs. Those two get it done, and it's in our hands.

The Saints or Panthers (one of them) must lose this week. If they both win we are done because they play each other in week 17...making one of them 8-8.
