Anyone know the status on Shawn Springs? Obviously he was out yesterday, and that was evident in the first drive of the 49ers where they destroyed the Smoot-less side of the secondary.

I can see Vinnie tearing apart that side as well unless Jimoh and company step up big time. Any chance that Springs will be back for the Phallus game?

The only thing i heard is that he COULD be there for Sundays game.

Arrington's return from an 11-game absence provided a boost Saturday and Springs could be back for Sunday's game at Dallas. More importantly, that pair is among a deep core of players and coaches who are expected to be here for the long term, which would give the team a stability that has been sorely missing as the Redskins have overhauled defensive staffs on an annual basis. There is no better way to go into 2005 than with the best defense in the NFL firmly intact.

i'd rather him not risk it as i am confident we can (not necessarily will) beat dallass without him. unless he is 100% i'd rather him rest for minnesota (a game where we will need both smoot and springs).

From what I'm hearing and reading, he's supposed to be fine.

Yeah, normally a concussion injury is easier to come back from....

A couple of advil, vicodin and a beer and he will be back in.

They are supposed to be more cautious with head injuries. Although we need him for the cowgirl game, I wouldn't be shocked if they kept him out another week just as a precaution.

With the year that Springs is having - he wants back to the ProBowl without a doubt. He'll be there Sunday.

From what I've seen, he should be fine this week. This past game was the precaution game. He'll be in there.

I just hope he's OK because he's a true redskin.

That's right on Patrick, especially with all the Springs doubters in the media when they said the Redskins traded away the best cover corner in the league.

Mr Springs deserves the Pro Bowl, IMO

Yeah, I actually thought I heard he could have played this week, but they kept him out as a pre-caution. Springs will be back.

and there's no way to say that he's injury prone after taking that hit. lets see any other player around his size take that kinda hit and not get a concussion. obviosuly i'd like for springs to play, but if they feel he's 1 week away, sit him.

This is a big game I think he will start.

I hope so but it will be more important to have him for the playoffs.....

Correct. Injury prone would be if he was missing time or complaining about his ankle all the time, but his ankle injury appears to be completely in the past. Someone that was injury prone were guys like Robert Royal and Ladell Betts. Hopefully, as we have seen this season thus far, they have broken out of that, but there for awhile, since they were drafted, they were always injured.

I'm not sure Brett Favre would have made it back the next week had he taken that hit.

He is supposed to play per Sportstalk 980.

I would not play him after a wicked shot like that....

Concussions are very serious business folks. He should sit out this week and come back for Minnesota (IMHO). I've had my share of concussions and it takes about a month for people to fully recover. Athletes do it early and that is why they have so many issues.

I'm watching him on comcast and he seems pretty good. He must practice most of this week to be on the field sun. It looks good though.
