it seems as if each year we go into the offseason expecting a ton of moves...this year seams different...i have no idea what to expect...it seems like we have a good core of players coming back...and that we will resign alot of the other guys...but i also wouldnt be surprised to see a wild offseason with guys like lavar and smoot being traded and brunell morton, and barrow gone...i was wondering if everyone else was gettin that feeling too of not knowing what to expect...cuz seriously we have no weakness i think except maybe qb...which is a work in progress...wrs we just dont have a gamebreaker...which is something i believe we will look at this offseaons...the running game needs to be reassesed...could see a big short yardage back come in...dont see any change on the oline...maybe a new center but i think raymer got the job done and wasnt as terrible as peole said...theres alot of talent along that line that needs to be put in its place...and raymer just caught alot of the blame i think...geting jansen back will improve the line...and on defense basically the only thing we need is a pure rushing end...maybe some more beef next to griff...i like salvaea though...really dont see much change in the secondary even if smoot leaves...gw loves clark and lott and both of them have played corner to go along iwth the two youngsters in brown and wilds...and harris can start being a former 1st rd pick

i think we resign everyone except smoot...trade down and draft pollack and corey webster or pac man jones...jansen comes back...brunell asks out so we let him go...we cut morton...restructure samuels...thats our offseason minus a couple minor moves...we may need to find money places so more cuts and restructures may be needed

i think my idea of a quiet offseason may make some people laugh...but i think it would be benefitial for this team to gain some stability...make the line work together and gel to become true dirtbags...help portis with a fb and more zone blocking...get the ball in your recievers hands so they can make plays...give dmc and jacobs looks to see what they have...and if gw can keep the work up we could be real dangerous next year

yeah, I have that feeling too. The last years, I got very excited when we signed a high-profile FA. Now I think I will feel the same when we sign one of our own FA. That's all I want.

(Plus, some help at WR, OL and DE :D )

i agree trade down for more picks. top notch players at certain positions are historically available in the later rounds, like centers, guards, safeties, fullbacks. Some top notch position players will be gone early, so if we need immediate impact at some of these positions, it can be addressed through free agency. maybe fill one or 2 areas of need with free agents, and then stock pile picks and fill in the rest in the draft.

there will be change and hopefully it makes us better.

I don't expect a huge FA offseason. I'm more excited about the draft. I think this offseason will be more focused on the offensive gameplan.

This offseason should be quieter. In the past we had to worry about improving the entire team but we all know our Defense is set, especially with all the injured players coming back. The depth at Defense is going to be strong. Special Teams was erratic but solid at times and will be strong with our Kickers and Returner in Brown.

So the major emphasis is obviously on the Offense. But we don't even have to make many changes on that side of the ball. A Center, a WR, a TE and some depth players are what we need. If Samuels restructures, 4/5th of our OL are set. Coles, Jacobs, Thrash and McCants (hope he stays.. he'd make a good 3rd/4th WR) are solid 1-4 WR's and either a Mike Williams or a FA WR should make it better. Then a blocking TE since we have 2 good receiving TE/HB in Cooley and Royal. With Portis and Betts, we're good there. If Sellers learns not to make boneheaded penalties then he's solid as the FB type and ST player.

We will actually have a deeper draft pool but the lack of 2nd and 5th rounders will hurt. But I have a feeling Gardner will be traded for a 5th Rounder. We traded our 5th for Thrash last year and those 2 had similar #s the last 3 years before this past year so if we can't get a 4th then we should take a 5th and get rid of Rod. Smoot's been great.. hope he stays but we have Harris to take his spot. It's still going to be an interesting Offseason but not quite the spectacle of the past few years.

Free agency will be a major part of our offseason as usual, but it all comes down to the type of players we sign. I think everyone in our front office knows that we're not a 38 year old DE or such and such away from contention.

We need to sign or draft the guys who will become stars as Redskins, not who have already become stars somewhere else.
