I don't have a link, but Spurrier finaly found a QB to take a way from UNC.
Cade Thompson, who has been committed to the Tar Heels since last summer, visited South Carolina over the weekend. He committed to Spurrier today and canceled his visit planned for this weekend to UNC.
Not a big surprise. Since we have a 4 star QB already enrolled. The same QB that Spurrier tried to take away from UNC when he was first hired, Cameron Sexton.
Good luck Cade. Hope you'll see the field sometime....

Thats reason alone why I was hoping he would go to UNC. It'll be interesting how soon he can turn the Gamecocks around. He's off to a good start....

All he needs with that team is consistant QB play. He has great RBs, Good Oline and a good Defense. Ko Simpson is Sean Taylor of the Gamecocks. Their schedule sucks, but give him a year and he's dominate the SEC...again.

Didn't you guys just sign a Jr. College QB too over the weekend?
I've heard that Spurrier will really bring in "his" guy next year. With a full year of recruiting and all. thats the reason for my "hope he sees the field" comment.
Cade Thompson was only a 2 star QB. Thats why the Vols didn't even try recruiting him. He's very thin. 6'2" but only weighs 175. it would be smart to redshirt him next year. But with Spurrier bringing in a 5 star QB next year, I just don't see a place on the roster for someone like Cade....
Just my .02 cents....

Spurrier is just finding talent and hoping for one player to click. He's under no pressure this year, so he's working out the kinks.

So how long before Spurrier is running up scores?
I think he gets hammered first off and then rights the ship.
any predictions?

He owned them both. He wont this year, but once he gets the players he wants....
and the first time he'll REALLY run up the score will be vs Pickens A&M. Spurrier will try for 100 points.

Spurrier will have a dominant sec team by his 3rd year there. Or maybe he'll go 12-20, resign, and return to fla to replace urban meyer.

Spurrier will be pretty itneresting, but the new Florida coach seems to be quite the guy as well.

Spurrier will never go back to Florida, because of his interview there this year. They asked him for his "awards" and a resume.

Are you kidding me?? Wow, one team offers him a membership at Augusta National and the other asks for a resume? That is incredible.

Spurrier reportedly told Florida's President asked for his "awards" to "go look in the Florida's award case". One of SC's biggest booster is Hootie JOhnson, the same who is the Chairman of Augusta National and you can play golf year round here.

I heard the same thing.
Augusta is an exclusive club, Spurrier made the right choice.

That sounds like nothing but UF getting supposedly the last laugh on Spurrier. He left them high and dry for the NFL. Not much of a notice of any kind.
Seems to me that UF had Spurrier back this time to just piss him off.
Now it seems that Spurrier may end up having the last laugh. But Meyer is a dern good coach. And he took Amatos #1 recruiter from NC State to be his main guy in recruiting.

Am I the only one who thinks he will flop in SEC? Yeah he has a ton of talent, but he aint playing New Mexico and BYU, he's in the SEC East now.
Look at his schedule this coming season as compared to last season:
Last season:
Texas A&M*** ****
at Arizona*** ****
at Utah State*** ****
Air Force*** ****
at New Mexico*** ****
North Carolina*** ****
UNLV*** ****
at San Diego State*** ****
Colorado State*** ****
at Wyoming*** ****
BYU*** ****
vs Pittsburgh*** ****
This season:
WYOMING
LOUISIANA TECH
TENNESSEE
at Kentucky
at Alabama
MISSISSIPPI STATE
at Louisiana State
vs. Georgia
VANDERBILT
at South Carolina
FLORIDA STATE

Well, what he did in Utah with lesser talent is amazing. He's a good offensive coach. And with better talent in UF, he shouldn't have much of a drop off. He may have growing pains the first year. But in the long run, he'll do a much better than Zook did.
Zook recruited very well at UF. But his coaching wasn't that good. I think Meyer will do very well.
I can see him winning 8 games this year.
Wyoming
Louisianna Tech
Ketucky
Alabama
Mississippi St.
LSU
Vanderbilt
South Carolina.....
and possibly F$U. That would make 9 wins.
LSU and South Carolina could ge either way. Both schools have new coaches. I know UF does too. But I think UF has more talent right now. And until Spurrier gets "his" QB, their offense may sputter at times.

your being extremely optimistic on Florida wins. They wont beat LSU, FSU and maybe Miss St(depends on where they play)

Maybe not F$U, but I can see them beating LSU. Mississippi St. was a fluke game last year, on the road none the less....
