Yes!
Saw it and that's a + - like getting Dan Snyder for ownership of the Skins. I still have to peek at the competitors. I am wondering if he's doing it as a long time fan like Snyder, meaning a very, above average commitment, without the free wheeling spending or just another investor, who just happens to have ties to the area.
Tell you what, that interim GM for Washington (Bowden) is getting rave revues so strong, I seeing more interest on him, than normal. Washington new owner, if he or she wants to be rich, BETTER woo this guy back into our court for years to come. I think he's going to find at least two bargain diamonds out of double A ball.
He's already a crowd pleaser!

I want a baseball fan as owner.
A cross between Steinbrenner and Jerry Bus.
An avid fan like steinbrenner, but a brilliant one like Bus who stays two steps ahead of the curve (except for trading Shaq) which was monumentally stupid.

I prefer that they get this team. Everyone is local (from what I can tell) and they have been involved in this from the beginning when they city seriously made strides to get the team.

There's another rather wealthy guy who may be joining that group. I will post the info once it is more than chatter. (FYI, he's a friend's uncle)

Maybe all the members of HR could chip in and we could own the team together ... send money to me and if we have enough I'll place a bid.

50 Cents
Oh wait, I get paid, soooo. Here's a couple of bucks! :)
I enjoyed the article in the Washington Post about the cry baby Oriole's owner, Peter Angelos, with blinding glasses (says the team 's not really having a problem, his front office chief, contradicted him blatantly). Wants his cake and eat it too, but asking for extortion money since the market will be challenged (oh, I forgot, he doesn't know what that means), in Baltimore. Wow, two of them now. Modell was a pain when Snyder took over and now we get "Mussolini "as a wild hair for the Orioles, crying foul.
The truth is, if the Nationals players already signed even play 90% of their potential for the years they had in 2002, 2003, and the younger prospects at least put up a slightly better than average performance, the National's market will look sick compared to the giant market Baltimore's been enjoying. Baltimore still stands to gain, even when the National's compete, because fans drive that engine (see Redskins and Dallas) #1 and #2 in the NFL in sales.
Bottom line Baltimore doesn't get it still and already there's that smell of something special, just maybe, this time around for the Washington Major League Baseball franchise.
The Washington Nationals have nothing to lose, everything to gain. Oh gee did I say gain? That will get that so and so Baltimore owner mad again.
