Yeah, I noticed that too.. I think the owners/mods did that so people would stop padding and worrying about how many posts people have.

you can click on public profile for someone and see their posts. i think they took em away though cause the mods want to get the props for starting threads congratulating people on reaching milestones, those thieves....

Maybe they got tired of seeing all these new posts with Congrats for 1k and such.

IndianBaller27
01-23-2005, 01:52 PM
Then why would they make this congratulatory forum? None of the admins/mods responded to it yet. I think they're holding out on us.

oh and BTW, AGG, there's already a thread about this in the help thread.

We are aware of the issue and has been stated, you can see them in public profiles.

This forum wasn't created for the sole purpose of congratulating people on post milestones. It was created to welcome people to hR as well as wish Happy Birthdays along with congratulatory milestones. A hospitality forum so to speak. Also, 1k number of posts isn't something that should be considered a milestone. The quantity of post means nothing, it's the quality of the post that matters. I just thought I'd address this since some seem to be speculating why they're not showing up currently.

This issue has got a lot more attention than I ever suspected it would. Post quality is what is paramount here, not quantity.

Although the quality of posts should be stressed over quantity, I found it really nice and thoughtful when people noticed you hitting various posting totals.

Quality should be foremost, but I can help but feel a little sterility and lack of endearment. If we are an HR family, would we not celebrate accomplishments like a family just like we come down on people that break the rules?

I am sure the owners and mods has a good reason for doing this, but IMO it takes away a lot of interactivity between members who otherwise may never talk to each other besides arguing if Randy Moss should be here.

I respect the decision of the leadership, but that is my two cents

After reading this, one thing sticks out more than anything else:

Who told you that the we turned the counts off, or are you simply assuming as much?

Well I'm a little disappointed to see the post totals go away and here's why...it instantly gave me an idea of the relationship the person has had with the group. It was nice to know if I was having a dialog with someone who has been very active and involved or conversely if they were someone relatively new...or in fact, a first time poster. In the case I first-timers I would often take the time to welcome them and hopefully make them feel accepted and encouraged to continue. Now I suppose I could look at someones public profile as mentioned previously, but that's not going to be anywhere near as convenient. I'm sorry that somehow this count total thing has become an issue, I for one appreciated having it there.

1. You have a very handsome boy there, although buying him size 12 shoes that early might be a little too prudent. :D

2. From what I have read thus far in this thread and have seen in my short time here I figure you guys (owners/mods) control pretty much everything on this site. That is why you are the owners right? If I am wrong I humbly apologize, but if I owned something I would expect to control every aspect of it.

Like I said, I still enjoy the HR family with or without post totals but I speak from my own experience that stepping outside the potomac forum where I could speak about something other than politics and actually have small talk with others over posting achievements, birthdays and such made the site more fun.

Am I mistaken, or does it say earlier in this thread that there is a software issue that caused this? Nowhere does it say that there was mod/admin/owner decision to do this.

I think Jim is just mad noone congratulated him on 6k. Congrats Jim.

Oh and i thought the post totals were taken away due to software issues not because the admins wanted it taken away.

Remember, you can still judge roughly where everyone is by the rank they have attained. All members have a ranking, aside from Admins and Mods. A papoose is a newbie. A Great Spirit is a seasoned vet.

First and foremost, his son has nothing to do with this conversation. There is no reason for you to mention him in this thread. As for control of this board, you are correct. We control what the software allows us to control. We don't control the glitches that can appear from upgrades/maintenance of the software. We only hope to get them resolved as soon as possible.

As stated earlier to which you may have missed, it's a technical difficulty we're dealing with just like database glitches I know users have been experiencing recently.

From your statements above, you come here for the political forum and step out of it to have smalltalk. Don't forget, this is a Redskins board first and foremost.

As Spence mentioned, you can tell the rank of members by their ranking name under their username or you can view their public profile. Also, the date to which they joined can provide you with info.

Let's quit all of the speculation because we stated earlier with the cause was and we're working on it. Also those who are stating/speculating that our mods want todo the congratulating are far from the truth and I find it a bit disturbing whether it's meant to be a joke or not.

Yea i noticed the database error as well. Got kinda frustrating at first, but it gives me a chance to clean up around my comp waiting for it to work again. :Peace:

It wouldn't bother me one iota if the post totals remain gone. Too many posters seem to post only to pad their number. They know who they are.

I’m just a papoose so please indulge me. What are the other ranks, and what are the corresponding meanings or levels that are indicated? I’m just asking so that I’ll know what my short term aspirations should be.

As you will notice, we have resolved the issue with post counts. Sorry it took so long to get it resolved. Most of the time was spent validating and verifying the numbers. This thread will be locked but I posted this message so that you would the issue was resolved. We thought it was going to require us to shut down the board but it didn't.
