Time to pick the midseason awards for the wizards. First pick mvp, then pick defensive player, and then pick 6th man.

half the season is gone? already?
mvp-gilbert arenas
defensive mvp-larry hughes
6th man-this one is tough because we really havent had anyone who consistently plays well every night, all season. i will go with dixon.

yep, 40 games in already. i went with arenas as mvp, haywood as defensive player, and dixon off the bench since he has won 4 games by himself.

Team MVP - Arenas
Defensive Players of the mid-season - Jared Jeffries
Most improved - Brendan Haywood
6th man - Jarvis Hayes
Best Shoes - tie between Gilbert's orange GameDay Adidas and Jared's white and blue Air Jordan 13s
Game of the Mid-Season - Phoenix Game

MVP-Hughes....how quickly we have forgotten what he has done for us
Defnsive-Haywood, we play the best D when he is out there
Most improved-haywood, much better finisher and has developed several post moves
6th man-dixon, single handedly has won a handful of games for us (bucks, suns)
Game of the mideason-tonight vs the cavs, TREMENDOUS effort

Man the Zards are smoking but I would love to see the big men playing better. Props to Heywood who is really stepping up his game. Etan is workign himself back into it and Kwame is hurting my feelings....
He needs to be playing...

MVP- Areanas and Jamison (tie)
Jamison really carried us in the first half and Areanas has really stepped up with Hughes down. If I had to pick just one it would be Jamison cuz he solidified the #4 position where we had so much trouble that last several years and lacked production.
Defensive Player- Jared Jeffries
I hated it when we drafted him but I'm glad we have him now. Down the stretch he's been asked to play the toughest offensive player on the court and has done a solid job against guys like Garnett and Jermaine O'Neal. Jamison is a weak defender and Jeffries has been able to play the 3 on offense then switch to the 4 on defense which has helped tremendously.
6th Man- Anthony Peeler
Although you could make an argument for Dixon or Hayes also. I think Peeler's leadership, attitude, defense, and 3 pt. shooting has really helped tremendously especially since the Hughes injury.

Arenas, Hughes, Dixon with Jamison as our MVL (Leader).

Arenas
Hughes
Dixon
Hard to argue with those three. Jamison is the best addition here in years and should garner some MVP votes, but Arenas is the straw that stirs the drink.
Hughes is a stopper and a scorer. Haywood has elevated his whole game, including free throw shooting.
Juan was on a tear before getting sick. He has found his role on this team. I still can't believe we were able to get a steady vet like Peeler who led the league in 3pt shooting pct last year.
I love this team. 2nd best record in the Eastern Conference. What a coaching job by EJ!
Who'd of thunk it?

I chose Antawn basically because he came here and has made a big difference, and we're definitley a hell of a lot better than we were last year, when he wasn't. Jamison is my MVP right now, with Hughes and then Dixon (if Cheech keeps showing up with those jumpers though...then he'll be sixth man :P)

MVP - Jerry Stackhouse. When he was traded the team got rid of bad seed!

6th man is a tough one to call, right now it is definitely juan, but by the end of the year i think it could very well be hayes....
but arenas and hughes have got mvp and defensive player all but locked up

you got that right
once again dallas bails us out (first: it was juwan howard, now stackhouse and latner)
we need to send mark cuban a card or something

How about K Brown for Dirk!

I might need to put my 'Trade Kwame' thread back into the mix...

MVP: Gilbert Arenas... He has been coming up big is these last few games and he is just leading this team without Larry Hughes. Plus he leads the team in PPG.
Defensive player: Larry Hughes... He leads the team in steals
Sixth man: Jarvis Hayes... I'm surprised only three other people chose Jarvis for sixth man. I know Dixon has been playing great, but if he keeps playing like this, he will always just be a sixth man. Jarvis has shown he can fill in for Larry Hughes, something Dixon couldn't do.

Jamison is a weak defender
i don't think that jamison is a weak defender, the reason he has struggled as much as he has is because most of this year he has been forced to play out of position....he really is best suited for the small forward position...not power forward were he has spent the most time....

no, im sorry but he is a weak defender. that was his weakness when he was in dallas and golden state. hes a great scorer but weak defender. but he tries though, thats the good thing. he has heart

Kwame is hurting my feelings....
He needs to be playing...
i am beginning to think that kwame is going to have to pull off a hell of a turn around if he wants to be on this team next year....
i know he is hurt...but he doesnt seem to care about anyone other than himself, i would be surprised if he even gets a contact offer from us at this rate

i think we might have to agree to disagree...
i dont want to suggest that jamison is a defensive stud...but i dont think he is a weak link (when playing small forward that is)

If Kwame continues to sit, Ernie is going to make like David Copperfield and make Kwame disappear. What he makes reappear in his place will be the question? As great as the big three are (Hughes, Arenas and Jamison) the Wizards will only go as far as the BIG-MEN will take them. Heywood, Thomas, Brown and Walker are the guys that will separate the Zards from the rest of the pack.
Honestly the Wizards are a better team right now when they go down low to Heywood/Thomas etc. now than they are with the guards jacking up 1 million shots. High percentage shots on offense will help the Wizards defense more than anything else. The east has no centers with the exception of Shaq/Wallace so the Zards should be able to dominate everyone else on the inside.
Kwame needs to stop stealing money and get on the court otherwise he is a goner after this season.

trust me, haywood is never a high percentage shot. arenas can make more 52 feet shots from beyond the half court line than haywood making one of those ugly turn around fadeaways. ok, maybe im hating, but i know what u mean. but all we need is a consistent big man and we can win in the playoffs

Yeah, hopefully Haywood can start making more of those ugly shots. As long as they go in, I odn't care what they look like. I probably have the ugliest floater you will ever see, but I usually make it.... Yes worse than Jamison's runner.

ugh jamisons floater is ugly, but he makes it..... well actually, hes missing them a lot nowadays. its one of those shots that, when u make it, it looks nice and like u have skill at it, but when u miss, ur like, "what was he doing?"

Considering you have the same team as last year with one exception. I think you can point to that exception as the reason you guys are better. Jamison is your MVP.
