I have had a PS and PS2 forever but have never played anything online, so here is my questions
Do not laugh at me as I am an old fuddy duddy(sp?)
I have a PS2 and want to go online
How does differ from dial up to highspeed?
I have dial up will I see any disadvantage if I am playing someone on DSL or cable?
What do I need to purchase to get my PS2 online ready?
I have considered buying an Xbox also, is the Xbox better for online than the PS2 or does online play stay the same for both (other than the different games of course)
Also my last question.
Can someone play vs someone with a different system (Xbox vs PS2) or does it have to be the same system?
Sorry, I have never gotten into this much and need some answers before I do anything. Thanks in advance

Ok here we go:
I have PS2 and play online alot. You really need dsl/cable - some games will not allow you to go online unless you are dsl/cable - Also - with dial up, the game will slow down - whoever you are playing, may get frustrated and quit. I know I set my levels to T1 or cable when I play madden.
Secondly, to go online, you need to get a router (to split), and the ps2 modem.
I am thinking about buying xbox soon because xbov Live! is better than ps2, and the graphic capabilities are much better on xbox.
Finally, xbox can only play with xbox - and ps2 with ps2 - the hard drives are configured differently and they won't communicate.

I got my PS2 online, it was fun for a week, but I'd just rather play dynasty mode.

With dial up you would be very limited on the number of games you can play. XBOX is alot better then the PS2 online because it has alot nicer setup with XBOX live. Also you would need BB for XBOX.
The only hardware you would need to get your ps2 online would be the network adapter which is only about 30 bucks. Online gaming is definitely the way to go now a days, it's alot of fun to actually be playing against real people.
