Over the past 2 years or so we have built a family of Redskins fans who are hungry for the return of our childhood dynasty. The TRUE Redskin teams that were feared in the NFL - loved by us fans - and built around a character that is still unmatched in the NFL ranks.

At the forefront of those teams stood Coach Joe Gibbs.

Lately, the media has taken it upon themselves to send Coach Gibbs a message of low tolerance when it comes to his second tenure here with us. Comments have been made which would allude to the fact that many are placing Coach on thin ice when it comes to confidence and winning. Basically a "Do it now, or else!" mentality.

Instead, we at hailredskins.com want to send Joe a different sort of message. A message from us, the real Redskin fans, which puts into physical form our committment to him and our confidence in his way. The media is not the voice of the fans, and we need to show Coach Gibs that we stand behind him 100%.

With that said, please take a moment to share your support with Coach and we will send this to him.

Coach Joe Gibbs -

I have been a Redskins fan for over 20 years now... and hold you in high esteem as a role model for my life. I count the day you made the decision to come back as a highpoint in my life... and look forward to watching you work more in the future.

Please do us (the fans) all one favor - ignore what the media reports. Bcause I can speak for one fan that supports every decision you make 100% (even if I don't understand it). I am behind you in what you are trying to bring back to the Redskins and wish you all the success in that work.

Coach Gibbs.

Gridiron was first shown in the UK in 1982. The first live game I ever saw was Superbowl XVII. I was hooked on the game and hooked on the Redskins. You never ever let us down as fans, our team was always committed and always ready too go.

This year we welcomed you back and whilst the record was not what we hoped, this team never quit all year long and that was because of you. Stay strong in the knowledge that for those of us that remember your first tenure, we will never be dissapointed in what you bring to this team.

I wish you every success.

Coach Gibbs,
Thanks for making the Redskins a proud franchise and thanks for returning to bring back that pride. I have no doubt that you will restore the glory that this franchise once had. You are the Redskins in my opinion.
Sincerely,

Dear Coach,

Most cities with great sports traditions cling to the legacies of a single player. We cling to the legacy of our coach. You are the sporting legend in DC and we wouldn't have it any other way. The day you came back was a day that only Redskins fans will understand, it was truly The Return of the King.

True fans know that you will take us back to the peaks which you once guided us. The media is nothing but a bunch of hack front runners, and although I'm typically a mild tempered person, I've taken to writing many letters to several of them, all with the same point of focus: you will regret the day you bet against Joe Gibbs.

Hopefully someone will show you these postings and it will serve as some small token of our gratitude to you and your leadership. Thanks, coach.

Coach Gibbs - Can I call you Joe...?

Please ignore flave - he's just bandwagon-jumping. The first live game I saw was the 1982 NFC Championship game thumping of Dallas. I think this proves without a shadow of doubt that I am the No.1 Gibbs/Redskins fan in the UK. If he wants, Flave can carry on being no.2 and I have no problem with that...

Carry on Sir!

Dear Coach Gibbs,

I have been a fan of the Washington Redskins and more importantly of yours since I was in the 5th grade. I have always admired the way you have coached with class and integrity. You have always meant what you said and stood by your players, and that is a class act.

It is with dismay and disbelief that I have read the reports attacking you over the last year. I know you came back to coach our Redskins and return them to greatness. I know you have committed to at least 5 years toward this goal. if only the press and talk radio would understand you meant what you said.

I just want you to know Coach Gibbs that the fans are with you. The hearts of 90,000 strong at Fed Ex and the countless thousands more who enjoy the Redskins from afar want you to be our coach, need you to be our coach, for the life of your contract and beyond. We stand with you Coach Gibbs.

Coach Gibbs-
I feel like I know you. Your honor and integrity are second to none. These are the qualities that you cannot give to another person (they must be earned) but on the other hand no one can take these away from you. You are a shining example for our team and us all. Your word is the word of Joe Gibbs......enough said. I guess we can only sit back and smile at some of the comments made by the media.
PS- I love your passion for our team.

Dear Coach Gibbs,

As a little kid, I don't remember the glory days of the Redskins, winning Super Bowls and such, but I do remember watching my family go crazy as we would win games, so it's no surprise to me that I turned out to be such a huge skins fan. It's not just the players that make the Skins appealing to me. Darrell Green, Art Monk, Joe Theismann, Sonny Jurgensen, Billy Kilmer, Sammy Baugh, etc are not the only legends here. The biggest name here is none of those previously mentioned. If 1 word were to sum up the whole franchise, it would be Joe(or Gibbs, whichever you prefer). The so-called "experts" in the media do not have the ability to look into the minds of your fans, their opinions are far from the truth. I'm looking forward to Year 2 come August.

With respect,
Ryan Nash

Coach Gibbs,

For as long as I've been a Redskins fan (all of my life!) you have been THE coach of the Washington Redskins and the man who helped instill character, unity and a great tradition into this franchise. You were the coach that lead my beloved team to the first Super Bowl win that I can remember. No matter what you do, you will always be the MAN in my humble opinion. Thank you for all the hardwork and determination that you have put forth in order to get the Redskins organization back into the winner I grew up with. Do not listen to all of those media jerks who want to criticize your every move, me and hundreds of thousands of die hard 'Skins fans are right behind you all the way! Good Luck and God Bless.

Coach Gibbs,

It's hard for me to express my love and support for you without it being less than 500 words, so I'll try to sum it up.

Some say Washington is home to many great and famous institutions, but what you have done for the city and the organization is quite monumental.

Thanks for being here and best of luck!!

Coach Gibbs,

I remember growing my dad and I spend countless Sunday afternoons watching you lead our beloved team to many victories. And while you were at NASCAR many of the Redskins fans would always say, "things would be different if Gibbs were our coach". So it was a dream come true to have you come back to coach our team. Since then some non-believers say that you have failed. Don't listen to what the media or anybody else says about the job you've done with our team. I believe a true testament of your greatness is how our team fought this year. I can't remember a team in recent memory with a losing record that I felt so good about. You are a great leader and an even better person (A God-fearing man). You seem to treat your players with the utmost respect and you demand the same respect from them. It is because of these attributes that we Redskin fans have full faith in you once again leading our team to greatness. We're behind you 100%. Hail to the Redskins.

Joe, I remember as a kid driving past RFK and hoping to one day play for you. Since that didn't manifest, I did the very next thing. I became a faithful (since 1977).
Now being 34 and a little league coach, I am one that believes in the importance of knowing who you are, through self discipline and being productive in society. That is what I teach my children and the players on my team. I understand why GOD is the important factor in my life. As well as I believe that if you don't do anything else, you will restore order through teaching about character to young men who sometimes fall short. If these young men that you lead trully understand the meaning of this game, they will play it like the game should be played. I know that is your hope. I stand behind you a true faithful.

Thank you for returning and working to rebuild something what was once a mighty dynasty and a place where people were proud to be part of. Thank you for the foundation that you laid. And finally it is my hope that the true Burgundy and Gold will represent hard work, respect, discipline, faithfulness and love. Through those things, we will get to the Super Bowl.

Humbly Submitted,

Dear Mr. Joe Gibbs,

I find it hard to believe that anyone liking, or should I say, loving the Washington Redskins would think otherwise, of supporting the team, you, your staff, the organization in its efforts to bring winning back.

It takes the entire tree to work together to weather the storms of adversity and surely you have had your share. These are but reminders to you of the love and support you have acquired over the years, and it is undying.

Continue to march in your quest and Godspeed to you and the Washington Redskins!

Coach,

Almost 2 years ago I started hanging out on this Redskin forum. I choose a screen name for myself that let everyone know who my favorite Redskin of all time was...my name here is AGibbsGirl.

I'm a great admirer of you not only as a coach but also as a Christian, a husband and a father. You quit at the height of your career so that you could spend more time with your family...on that day you made grown men weep, but you also made them think.

You are respected and loved and most importantly, a good and faithful servant, and because of that, win or lose, I will always be a Gibbs girl!

Coach Gibbs,

Thank you for coming back and coaching the Redskins. Coming back to coach the Skins was the start of the turnaround. The players seem to want to win more now than ever thanks to your presence. You said it was going to take some time but some people didn't listen, to tell the truth I didn't either but I understand now and I see what you are doing with the Skins and how you are building a core group of players. I know you will restore the Redskins to their winning ways and I will stand by you for as long as it takes.

You are a great man

Thank You,

Hey Coach,

I have a sense of humor. I got your joking around. I was surprised as well to hear all the "hoopla" about your comments at the NASCAR event in the newspapers and on TV. But, even though you didn't have to, you re-affirmed your position with the Skins and the fans. All of us at hR are here to re-affirm our position: We're with you all the way. If there's one thing you don't have to worry about, it's the fans loyalty to you and the Skins. You're a stand up guy, an extremely hard worker that I personally admire, and an honest man. Here's to more great Redskin memories.

Regards to you and your family,

You have that kind of support from fans world wide. Thanks for giving us a TEAM for the first time since you left, in fact, thanks for everything.

Dear Coach Gibbs

We all know the past season didn't go exactly like you or the fans wanted, but don't doubt for a second that the fan base is still completely in your corner. We are!

You have to understand, the Redskins since you left have had very few bright days. The Norv Turner era was characterized by underachievement and lack of discipline, the Marty era just came and went in the blink of an eye, and the Spurrier era was a fiasco in so many ways. That's 12 years of misery and embarrassment for us 'Skins fans. We KNOW that it's going to take more than ONE year to turn that kind of thing around. We believe in you and what you're doing, and we are with you, win or lose. Even though we were 6-10 this year, we as fans saw a spirit and "no quit" mentality in our team that we haven't seen in a long time. We're excited about the future!

As for the media culture today, it's about one thing: bringing people down, wallowing in the negative and searching for the bad side of every story. The guys who host your radio show during the season, Steve Czaban and Andy Pollin, are, in my opinion, perfect examples of this type of negative-slanted reporting (just listen to them during the week sometime when you're NOT on - you'll see what I mean). There are many others.

The thing is, most fans are smart enough to see through that. Don't let it bother you at all. We're here, we're glad you're here, and WHATEVER happens in the rest of your coaching time with the 'Skins, NOTHING can ever tarnish or dampen the love we have for you and what you did for our team.

So, stay the course, Coach, and be as proud of yourself as we are of you! And do us all one big favor....JUST BEAT DALLAS!!!

Thanks for everything,

Tom Kercheval

Mr. Gibbs,

I fell in love with the Redskins when I was 7 years old and my first football game I got to watch on T.V. was Super Bowl XVII and the roar and excitement in the house when Riggins ran for a TD on 4th & 1 was a defining moment that let me know football was a big part of life and not just a game.

But it wasn't Riggo or Theisman that got my attention, it was the guy with the hat and glasses on standing on the sidelines looking firm and stoic, leading the way. Watching the happy emotions stir out between you and your players, you and Jack Kent Cooke, showed me what a great, humble man you are. Then to find out you're a devout born-again Christian and the class and humility that you have in your life in a game filled with emotionally charged and vulgar spouting players and coaches, reinforced my belief in being yourself no matter the realm you are in.

Thank you for teaching me about being the best person you can be for others and not just for yourself. We love you coach and can't thank you enough for coming back to save our team and fans. No matter the record, you will guide those young men and show your fans how a true professional and human being can bring out the best in those that look up to you.

I have been a Redskin fan for over 30 years. In my mind your the single greastest contributor to the phrase "the storied Washington franchise". Dear Coach Gibbs:

I've been a loyal Redskins fan for well over a decade now, and i will always be a loyal Joe Gibbs fan. You are the prime reason for the greatness of this franchise, and without you the last past 10+ seasons, we Redskins fans have been like a ship lost at sea. But since you've taken the helm, we all know that you'll get the ship turned around. Some people just don't realize that it's hard to turn so many years of losing into a winning franchise virtually overnight. It takes time. I don't want this team in anyone else's hands, and am very proud to have you back. The naysayers aren't your core Redskins fans. Hell, i don't even consider them Redskins fans. Dear Coach Gibbs,

I can whole heartedly say that I not only admire you as a coach but as a human being. You are humble, loyal, honest, hard working, and devoted. These qualities you possess will enable you to always succeed at any task you choose to take on. This is why I can say from the heart THANK YOU for coming back to Washington and I know you will restore us to greatness.

Yes, in football it takes more than one person to make a team win but your philosophy on what it takes to succeed is contagious. You leave an impression on people, especially your players, and that is why we will be great again. It's not the talent of a person or team but their ability to maximize what god given gifts they have, and that can only be done with hard work. You prove this, and players on your team prove this!

The one thing I see looking back at this season is a new attitude here in Washington. I watched our players fight to win every last minute out there, giving everything they had! After the game was over no matter the outcome the team always maintained it's sense of unity! It was the most refreshing thing I've seen in years and I wish I could shake everybody on the Redskins hand. If we can keep that moral you've instilled in us and work just as hard next season there is nothing that can stop us.

I have nothing but faith in you, no matter what next season brings! I will always be behind you. You will succeed once again! No matter what the media or people say, know that us TRUE REDSKIN FANS appritiate everything you have done, and continue to do.

THANK YOU COACH GIBBS FOR COMING BACK TO WASHINGTON!

I once doubted you (I was mad when you replaced Jack Pardee in 81)
like so many others back then, you changed our minds and made us believe in you and your ideas on what it takes to winning in the NFL.

I also grew up knowing only success as a Redskins fan. When you left, I did not know how low we could fall, I have dreamed for years to returning to the glory days I so fondly remember as the "Gibbs era". My 11 year old daughter hears about my great Skins memories but she has not been able to experience that with me. Then came Jan 2004 and I got that feeling back. I took my daughter to her first game ever to see you return on opening day. This was a rough year on the field but unlike the last 12 "rough" years I have so much hope for the near future. This fan base loves you like you can not believe, you walked into a team that has underachieved for years and it is not going to be an overnight fix, and the fans know that. You have the support of te Redskin fans and we all are looking forward to the next 4 years as we know you are the one to lead us to the promise land. Thank you sir for causing me to remember what is like to have faith in my Redskins and giving me the hope that all Reskin fans needed. Welcome home sir and thank you

Coach Gibbs,

I got your autograph this summer during training camp. Immediately afterwards, I thanked you for the signature. You then looked me right in the eyes and thanked me for my support. The unselfish and caring attitude you possess clearly shows me how dedicated you are to your team and this fanbase.

I am proud to say that I am a faithfull Redskins and Coach Gibbs fan; no matter where we are in the standings, and no matter what the score of the game is.

The game of football needed the return of a gentleman of your convictions and stature. I am proud to say you are my coach. Keep fighting the good fight. You have millions standing behind you in support.

Coach Gibbs,

Out of nowhere here in my little brittany country in France, I want to let you know I am PROUD to be a redskins' fan.

you are the workhorse in this organisation, and you won't stop carrying your load until you reach your goal. That's your statement, that's an example for a lot of people wandering how they could reach personnal goals.

You're not only likeable because of what you've done, or what you're able to do as a coach. you're lovable because of what you are, as a man.

I'm certainly a hundred percent behind you, and will remain.

Coach Gibbs,
I just want to say thankyou for bringing back a pulse to the Redskins. I can't tell you how nice it is to watch a team that fights to the last second. That's all I can ask for as a fan. A team that never gives up!

Thanks again!
