I think Sean Taylor is gonna have a great year this year. Hes gonna be more disciplined with coverage assignments, his mean streak. Now that hes had one year under his belt I expect Greg Williams to blitz Sean more and for Sean to read QB's and WR's better and pick off more passes. :skinsemb Whats everyone else's thoughts?

I just hope he doesn't let a cagey 40+ QB in Dallas draw him to the middle so they can beat us on a last second play again. That'll make me happy.

Sean Taylor will be as good as he wants to be. There is no arguing that the guy is as physically gifted as any safety in the league. Now its just keeping his head in the game at all times and cutting down on the mental lapses and penalties that he had last year. If he can do that the sky is the limit.

it was his first year in the nfl, and starting in the nfl. it does take time to understand the game, but once he fully understands his position he will be great. he is still learning but i expect that by about 10 games into the season he will be a beast, a monster. man, i cant wait! :inkston:

He'll be better, I don't see any way he doesn''t start every game this year. More playing time will yield more interception, sack, and tackle oppurtunities. Just stay healthy and don't get suspended!

I just hope that my dawg...gets with Ed Reed...(Ed's replacement at safety at Miami), Works out and developes much better understanding of the game. I do understand that they are good friends....I also hope that he stays out of trouble, and takes his job very seriously. I also hope that he comes out of the media shell, cause as a fan, I would really want to hear from him.
Sean should be representing the NFC IN the pro bowl this year, barring any injury. JMHO

Sean Taylor will be the best safety in the NFL next year.

Taylor will be one of those guys that opposing offensive coordinators will have to devise gameplans for, like Lavar.
like Stanley Richards and Sam Shade and David Terrel...j/k.

Hopefully he'll also work on film study and learning the mental side of playing S in the NFL. He can be great, but he isn't there yet.

Sean Taylor will be the best safety in the NFL next year.
Considering the defensive MVP of the league was a safety last year, Taylor has a long way to go to achieve the crown of best safety.
I simply wouldn't mind him being mentioned in the same breath as Reed and Williams.

Taylor should be a Pro Bowler next season. He needs to become a student of the game and arm tackle less. If he tackled with his body all the way he would just end careers out there. He got better at that as the season progressed, I think.
I also think/hope we blitz him more, he's built like a linebacker, let's missle him through the line like one, like Ed Reed does.

I think next year, he'll be at least as good as Brian Dawkins and the year after as good as Ed Reed. He should be a perenial pro-bowler and will do for the Safety position what LT did for the OLB position- REVOLUTIONIZE it. If all goes as planned and ST does what he needs to do(behave/be smart/etc..) he'll be the best safety the game has ever seen. He may even bring about a change in the postions on the field. A hybrid LB/S type guy that can run a 4.5 hit like a ton of bricks and cover any WR/TE/RB in the league. Welcome to the new NFL where Safety's are 6'3" 235 monsters.

A heathly defense next year could put up staggering numbers in every category. Assuming we sign smoot and pierce, then use the first round pick for a d-lineman, the Redskins D could really be the most intimatdating D in the NFL. With Bowen and Taylor as your safeties nobody is going to across the middle. Those are two guys that can lay the hammer down. Pierce, Lavar and Washington will strike fear into any RB or QB. Both OLBs pin their ears back when they got somebody in their crosshairs, and pierce is as an intelligent MLB that I have seen. Smoot and Springs just need to cover and tackle. If they use the Deon Sanders school of takling (just hold on to him until you get some help) they should be ok. And depending on who is drafted, the D-line will just have to plug up some holes. We will also have to see if Taylor will get called on some unnessacary roughness penalties and late hit penalties that he got away with this year. If the officating starts to notice it and call it, that will take away a dimension of his intimidating.

I don't think I have been this excited about a rookie going into their 2nd season more then I am about seeing Sean Taylor do his thing next year. In my opinion he is the perfect lend of size speed and nastiness.

The only thing that worries me about Sean Taylor is hearing about how he hadn't been studying game film. He has tremendous instincts but he will not become great until he becomes a student of the game. Hopefully that will come w/maturity. If he does that, the sky is the limit for this kid.

Said Springs: "You don't want to kill his desire right now, but after a while he will smarten up about how he uses his mean streak. It's a fine line."
Taylor did not start the first two games of the season, but his study habits have improved dramatically, coaches said.
Sean learned by not starting those first two games and his study habits are much better. Everyone talks about Sean keeping his head on straight and not getting personal foul penalties, which is exactly what he needs to do. I just think his rookie year he wanted to come out and let everyone know who he was and never let up. Sean will always be a mean, tough nosed, hard hitting, ball hawking safety, with some trash talking in there too. I just think hell keep it within the boundries and have controll of it.

This post sure gets me excited about next year. That d should be friggin' nuts next year. I love having a great d, that will keep you in each game of the season, even if the offense isn't doing their job. A lot of college football observers felt Taylor was the best college football player his junior year at any position. He has all the tools to go down as one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Hopefully, he will take full advantage of that. I expect Williams to really stay on his a** this year, as gets all his players to fully maximize their potential.

you know what williams should do, he should pull a Jack Nicholson in Anger Management and move in with Sean so that Sean will be completely devoted to football

Sean needs to work on his reads some more. If he can learn to recognize offenses and the plays they are going to run, he can get a better jump on the ball, and really increase his interceptions. It will also help in breaking up plays, and making quick tackles should a pass be completed downfield.
As long as he makes some Iggle and Cowgirl heads bleed... I don't really care.

I can definitely see him getting in the end zone at least once next year and scaring every WR on their schedule. Wasn't rosenhaus pissed that taylor signed such a cheap contract with his first agents? Didn't he say they would discuss restructuring after the season. I hope this all went away, but if taylor turns into the beast he should than I can see holdout in the future.

Taylor will become a bad a$$ safety and his agent Rosenhaus is a good agent that loves working with the Redskins,Gibbs and Snyder love working with him. If Sean does decide to redo his deal then it will get done, with no problems in my opinion, cause of the relationship with Snyder and Gibbs. Remember Drew is Pierce's agent too, and hes going to get Pierce a good deal with the Skins! im not interested in talking contract stuff, just the on the field strides Sean will make!! :)
