What if we signed Brandon Winey back and get him and rotate Wilson/Monlinaro in at a 3 OT rotation. our OT would be completly fresh on every play.. and the defense wouldn't know which OT is coming in.

I like Wilsona and Moninlaro. Look at excerpt I found on washington post back in november.. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8459-2004Nov23.html

O, by the way .. everyone here said we need beef up the line .. how about next to dockery? Wilson is 6-6 318 pounds

Wilson has markedly improved, especially his footwork, since offseason minicamps when he appeared to struggle adjusting to the NFL.

Wilson was one of the last Redskins players to leave the team's training facility yesterday, a day off. He departed after 4 p.m. following three hours of extra studying for Sunday's game. Wilson normally watches two or three game films on Tuesdays. But yesterday, Wilson watched four games, including Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles -- twice.

"I'm really excited. This is something I've been working for my entire life," Wilson said. "I've been working real hard for it this season just in case this opportunity came up. It's here and I feel like I'm prepared for it."

He also did good good against the steelers. With another year under bugels . a 3 man rotation could be good don't you think?

Im just looking for suggestions. How do yall think it would work ..

I dont' think rotating LTs has the same effect as it does on rotating DEs.

You need a staple on LT who will play every down and be a leader for the line. Substituting guys in and out of the position would be a liability.

Its a possiblity. Jansen and a new vet center could be all the leader we need on the o-line. If everyone was a leader there would be no followers

I don't think it's as easy as all that. If we have to resort to a situation such as this then we simply did not plan well enough.

An offensive line becomes great because of chemistry. That takes time to develop and it'll never happen if the most important position of the line is a different person every play.

While I agree eith the idea that rotating OL positions is not smart (you need the consistency), but I've wanted to see a team do it see if it could work. With the right line coach I could see a team pulling it off.

Draft Khalif Barnes in the 2nd and have him battle with Wilson and Molinaro and whoever wins we protect him with a TE.

While I liked Brandon well enough filling in for Chris Samuels, he apparently was not tough enough for Buges, so he isn't coming back unless Bugel leaves.

In general, rotating O-linemen is a recipe for disaster. Linemates count on each other reacting in certain ways in certain situations so they can slide and pass defenders back and forth. This comfort level only develops over time. It would cut the reaction speed of the line to make them remember, "OK, Chris is next to me this time, so when the OLB comes on the delay, Chris will be looking in towards the center and I have to keep my guy and drive him into the rush lane"

I don't claim it couldn't be done, I just don't see the payoff. O-linemen tire slower than defenders anyway because they know where they need to go, just like WR vs. CB.

More importantly because defenses rotate DEs and linemen the oline needs to be stable to keep from confusion. If the oline does not work as a unit then it is a 2 yard rushing loss or a sack. It is one of the hardest positions in football and you will be lucky if one person on your team is up to playing oline effectively let alone 3.

routating a left tackle is a recipe for disaster.

Exactly. Especially not with second year players.

NO. Never rotate Tackles they need to stay with the flow of the game. If I was Ramsey and they rotated my blind side tackle I would ask for my restructure money back.

What if we signed Brandon Winey back and get him and rotate Wilson/Monlinaro in at a 3 OT rotation.

Winey is under contract somewhere else, so I don't think that would happen. Besides, Joe and Joe already had a look at Winey and they cut him loose, so they must think the two young guys have more of an upside.

If Samuels is gone and we haven't found a decent replacement, DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT this guy.

I remember they tried that experiment with Shar Pournadesh and a gaurd(I cant remember his name of the top of my head but minnesota ended up giving him a big contract) they ended up having to draft Samuels with the 3rd over all pick in 2000 because it failed misserably.
I say they need to get it done on the restructuring Samuels contract so he can stay here and protect Ramseys blind side. :Peace:

I think that was Brad Badger and if I remember correctly we had a game against the Giants where they sacked our QB's 7 times.

Thats him.I remember when we needed anyone who could play LT for us and now they want to get rid of the guy who filled that need.He might not be the best in the league at that position but he does a good job.He was injured most of the season and still played well.Just hope the injury bug leaves all our o-linemen alone this year. :Peace:
