The Skins offense has not been good! It hasn't been good in a long time. While we could use a stud reciever or a big time TE, what the Skins really need is a Joe Jacoby helmet. I have never seen anything quite like it. There were more dents, scratches, colors, etc. on that helmet than any I've ever seen before. The HOGS used to knock some skulls! If this offense is to get going, the Dirtbags need to get dirty! Teams used to know what the Skins were going to run at the end of a game, and it just didn't matter because the HOGS would execute. Our O-line needs to put a hat on people. Once this happens, everything else will fall into place.

I would. There is an obessession that reigns at hR on WR and TE, and yes, WR does need addressed, but IMO, there i no bigger need of this offense than a bona fide, mean starting Center, and some good, quality, young depth on the Line.

I am torn at where we address our Center need. I would love to pick up a second round pick with the Gardner trade and get Bass out of Michigan. But drafting a Center is such a risk, the reward is he could hold down that position for the next 10 years.
Any body got some good ideas on free agent Centers out there?

nobody that is really worth it. The centers are far and few between this year and Buges would have to do some major work to fix them.

There are 2 problems that are stopping the dirt bags from being killers.
1. They clean and buff the helmets before every game.
2. We have 3 big mean killer on the OL, Dockery, Thomas, Jansen we lost one last year which left us with only 2 true dirtbags.

if we couldve done that in several games this year (@ dallass comes to mind), the skins wouldve been in the playoffs easily.

Agree. We definitely need a new C, a stud blocking TE, and personally I would like to see them put Dock on the bench and bring in a guy who can improve the level of play at LG. If there was a way to upgrade LT too, I'd do that, but with Jones signed and Pace tagged, Samuels is the best option...

Hmmm...I wonder. The only one I have seen enjoy finishing blocks by driving guys into the turf and keeping them there is Jansen. Dockery seems big but soft and Thomas is a technician, effective but not particularly physical.
I am all for finding guys who can play at a high level and have a mean steak a mile wide. Mark May, Grimm, Starke, Tre Johnson - those guys would rip your heart out and step though the hole. Burt Reynolds told really funny story on TBDSSP about May snatching him up by the collar in a bar in Tallahasse when College Gameday was down there for a FSU/Miami tilt. Mark still doesn't back down from anyone at any time. Unless he's married. Then he backs down from his wife and no one else. :)

another year under Buges should elevate their game. they couldnt' develop chemistry last year because of the RT carousel, Friedman-Raymer's inaduequecies, Dockery's inconsistencies and poor blocking from TE's. even with the same group Buges should get them to achieve more.. but they should bring in a Center and a road grading TE for us to see the real DirtBags.

i am greeding i say that we try and draft a guy liike baas that can play multiple interior positions, and bring in a veteran free agent that can solidify the position in the interm

I heard something about Ben Hamilton from Denver, but as long as I know, he is a Guard, not a Center. There are a couple of names, I'll check them cause I don't remember them, but right now I would love to have Wilkerson or Baas as our starting C.

Assuming we can get a talented LT to replace him. Samuels may not be worthy of a 9 million dollar salary this year, but he is still one of the better LTs in the league.

very true. i just think we can get a guy just as good as samuels for signifigantly less. samuels is making me more mad than fred smoot did. (yes, i know we did agree to pay samuels the money, but he should have known we would never pay a LT 9M in one year. that deal was meant to be restructured from the start. he needs to take a lesson from wynn and be a team player or stop wearing the burgundy and gold).
oh, and just to give you more money, i compare ramseys three year career to mannings rookie year. (as long as someone else is paying.) :-)

I echo what PSF says, but would only add that the depth needs to be at guard. I think we have depth at tackle in Wilson and Molinaro. I think we made a huge mistake playing Ray Brown at RT in place of Jansen last season instead of Wilson, after Jones was cut. He (Wilson) could have gained valuable experience out there that would have put him much further ahead going into this season.

They are like good pass rushing DE's....worth their weight in gold.
Is Samuels worth $9million cap number? Probably not. Can the team get a replacement for him that will perform as well as him? Who knows?

That's the million dollar question. If we dump Samuels can we get a viable replacement. I've been saying for quite sometime that the problem with our offense starts up front. If our O-line isn't dominant, we can't run the ball effectively, which will affect our passing efficiency and so on. I can only assume we'll get better next year with the addition of a decent center and the return of Jansen.

Whatever happened to Butz' helmet? They used to have it on display in the HOF store in the stadium. I took a buddy to his 1st game last year and went to the store specifically to show him Butz' helmet and it was gone :O

Draft Jason Brown 3rd Round.....Maybe even 4th

I never thought I would disagree with you DJ. but Samuals is not one of the better LT's in the league watch him on some tapes if you have a couple. His footwork is slow esp. to his left, he short arms his blocks, on blocks to the inside his head is always out of position and he has the mean streak of a puppy. The Skins need a left tackle and Baas or Wilkerson at center and Portis will win the rushing title this year and several more to come.
