Ok so I made all of our roster moves and played a game of madden with all pro sliders adjusting our defense up and our offense down and I thought I would report the results (off the top of me head).
The game was close for the most part. I think it was 17-10 going into the fourth and in a real game I wouldn't have been trying to score that last TD so it was basically 24-10.
Ramsey threw for around 280 @ 55% completion and 2-1 TD/INT. the one INT was a stupid throw on my part. I was trying to hit Moss with a CB sitting right there in zone coverage.
Moss was the leading WR but fumbled on a punt return that cost me a TD. I connected on a sweet bomb where Cooley pulled the CB in zone and the SS was 1-on-1.
Patten, Moss, Jacobs, Cooley, Portis, McCants, and Thrash all had at least one catch.
Portis had over 100 with a TD but only 4 yards per carry.
The D was incredible. I used Smoot (who kept getting beat on their one long drive) but not Pierce. Arrington and Barrow has sacks along with either Wynn or Daniels (don't remember).
Oh and only Samuels allowed a sack I think. Betts contributed a couple nice runs and scored a TD in mop up duty.
And yeas, I am bored at work. :D

LOL! no, but I posted about it at work. We're done our handoff so I'll have more time until my 1-on-1 at 11:00. Then I'll get assigned more projects and work until the next quarterly handoff. fun times.

Detroit. It really was close for most of the game unlike last night when I killed the Raider (with Moss). I guess I have to turn it up, but the Raiders just couldn't stop any cutbacks or counters. They'd stuff the middle and kill me on sweeps (small WRs don't block) but any misdirection typ stuff and it was off to the house.

Portis is too fast for sweeps and middle runs (pretty funny that he's too fast for sweeps in Madden) because he doesn't give the Oline time to set up running lanes. If you're having success with cutbakcs and counters then you should try doing the other running plays, but waiting a lot longer for Portis to hit the line of scrimage. This gives the slow offensive linemen time to get out front and make blocks

Good point. Another thing on the sweep is that the guy out in front usually ignores the CB and looks for the LB/S but the CB get me 2-4 yards behind the LOS.
Another thing I noticed is that I can hit PA bombs now (with Moss). My passing game has always been limited because I just couldn't beat the CBs deep, but I've gotten theee bombs to Moss on either play action or sending Cooley in motion underneath the route (the CB was in zone coverage so I got man to man with the safety).

You're right about the CB thing...when playing with the Skins I usually would do a WR swap, put Rod on the strong side, and run that way b/c I'm more comfortable running to the strong side. With the new recievers...I don't know...haven't tried them out yet. I haven't played in a couple of months but when I was last playing I was using the Steelers b/c you could give me Portis and the Amsterdam Admirals and I'd win every game, thus no fun. Ward and Burress are really good blockers so I love running outside behind one of them. But I liked using the Steelers b/c their secondary is so bad that it made me work really hard on defense.
My general rule of thumb is to never use recievers with 90+ speed...it makes the game too easy. They beat the CBs every time and it's no fun. If you're trying to get a better deep passing game use formation shifts, motions, and audibles in order to isolate your fasted receiver on either a LB or safety. My eyes lit up every time I saw the opponent stuck with a linebacker covering Coles...I'd then hot route to a deep post or streak and loft a pass up there for Coles to grab.

You probably play on rookie or pro. Cuz on All-Madden, it is hard to find an open man deep.

All-Madden, default sliders. Its not hard...you just have to figure what defense the other team is running before the play starts.

Yeah...they say that this was supposed to be the year of the D. Well some of the adjustments made the D better, but adding the formation shift feature to the offense made playing offense in this year's madden way too easy.

I never really use formation shift. I've done it a couple times, but I usually don't.

try using it more...do it in practice...if you figure it out well then you can confuse the defense so that CBs are covering TEs and LBs and safeties are covering WRs. When the Defense is in zone coverage it is a good way to flood zones--having many routes being run in the direction of one or two defenders.

Well I guess at some point I have to to cut Smoot and creat Wilds, Clemons, and Brown.
The new look Skins against the new look Vikes might be next.

hopw'd you get santana? the jets wanted coles AND A 1st ROUNDER for him, and no way i was giving that up. so i traded coles and a 2nd to NO for donte stallworth(gotta get another speedy receiver). i also traded gardner to the jailbirds for rabach and a draft pick(4th rd i think). i traded a 3rd and 4th rounder i believe to the pats for patten. i kept trading down in the 1st round until i had the 32nd pick plus a bunch of mid round picks and got CB jimmy williams from VT. i got a whole lot of depth so when cap hell comes, i'll have worthy replacement cheap players.

Wait, that works? How do you do it? And why don't you just do it for Moss as well?

I have a Redskins team with Moss, Rabach, Patten, Antonio Brown, Wilds, and Clemons.
Unfortunately, I am winding down my season in franchise and trading WR #80 causes like a $12M cap hit! I had to cheat a little to get Moss (as someone said the Jets won't come off him), Patten, and Rabach. What I did was sign Pierce and Smoot to 2 year deals with no signing bonus and trade them to the Giants and Vikings for picks. I used the extra picks to sweeten the trades for the other guys. Then when I imported the draft class, I got OLB Derrick Johnson (projected top 10 pick and 85 OVR) at the bottom of the first round. I turned him into a DE and he was below average (3-5 sacks in approx 14 simmed games). Because of the WR #80 trade I had something like $40k in cap room. I usually have around $10M.
