Everyone seems to be talking about the Moss/Coles Trade, whether we should draft Mike Williams, if Patten is an upgrade to Gardner, if we should go down in the draft and grab Heath Miller, etc.

Have we forgotten that the jury is still out on Patrick Ramsey??? If you ask me, he is one of the most important cogs in the wheel. Lets face it, he is an unproven comodity.

I (for one) am a Ramsey supporter. I say that with some reservation, however. Based on his cannon arm plus he's fairly accurate (when given time in the pocket), I think he has the tools to be a pretty good NFL QB.

On the other hand, I do question his quick decision making skills, his ability to pick up defensive schemes, etc.

Let's not also forget that he has never played (started) one full season. While I remember how he came into the game (due to injury of our starting QB) against Tennessee in 2002 and ripped them apart, I also remember how he threw a boatload of INT's against New Orleans (same year) and the GINTS (last year). Which Ramsey is going to show up is going to be interesting.

While I like him as our starting QB.......how much do I (or any of us) really know about him???

As Ramsey goes.......so go the Redskins......at least on offense.

Ramsey is the key,

I think the lightbulb comes on for him this year. I think with Musgrave tutoring him on the fundementals of Quarterbacking the game will FINALLY slow down for him. If I am Ramsey I am working on the following things.

1. Checkdowns
2. Looking off Safeties and linebackers
3. Pumps to move safeties and linebackers
4. Making true play action fakes
5. *Timing with his new Recievers

Indivually Ramsey really needs to do repetitive work on the first 4 points. The timing with the recievers is something he should pick up the phone and initiate as the leader of the offense.

If he goes into the first camp with a working knowledge of the capabilities his new WR Corp the battle is half won. The second phase is executing at game speed. Luck is when preparation and training meet opportunity so if Ramsey and those WR's get some chemistry then life is good.

The underlying factor here is the Skins will have a competent center and a solid offensive line. Moss and Patten will help because their speed gets them separation. Portis will go nuts with a real O-line. he almost got 1500 with a busted line so having a solid line might get him closer to 1800-2000 yards.

Portis effectiveness means Ramsey does not have as much pressure to be the man. If he can master the art of play action the skins are in it to win it.

I do not see doom this year...I see Ramsey performing solidly and getting a lot better as the season goes along.

You are right, but what are we gonna do? Bring in someone else for insurance? No thanks. No QB controversy Please.

Dont forget about the Gibbs "new and improved 21st century offensive scheme". This is gonna have to be upgraded just as much as Ramseys decision making if we plan on doing any thing...

I don't care what everybody is saying about this being a make or break year for Ramsey. I have thought since his rookie year that he is gonna be the future for the 'Skins. I will say that the Real key to our offense is our offensive line. If they give Ramsey time to be comfortable in the pocket, then Ramsey will continue to improve on his play that he displayed later on in the season. Late in the season he was improving on his check downs, putting touch on the ball, and getting rid of the ball. He is by no means a finished product but I'm gonna assume that w/the work of Bill Musgrave as his QB coach that he will become a good QB next year (no ProBowl yet but close).

Exactly. Gibbs has been successful with less talented guys than Ramsey. Let's not forget that Ramsey was a double major in Accounting and Finance from Tulane and finished 3rd in his graduating class. he's smart and he'll study and work hard. he's young, has his head on straight, no off-field issues, and he's healthy. he started late in camp with the foot injury healing. he improved greatly in the last 5 games of the season, completing over 68% of his passes with 10 TD's and 8 int's against some tough defenses, including the Steelers and the Eagles. The offensive line must be dominant for him and Portis to succeed. Samuels, Dockery, Rabach, Thomas and Jansen should be one of the best lines now with a year's coaching from Bugel.

exactly, if you want proof, go watch the second giants game where our oline dominated like the chiefs does. ramsey had by far his best game ever, and all because he had time to go through his reads

That could be the great untold story this year.

i think the ramsey we saw the last month and a half is who we'll see. he really started to see the field better, didn't make as many bad decisions and he looked like he just got comfortable. and let's count it as 10 TD's and 7 INTs...his first one against Dallas that ended the first drive hit royal in the hands and was batted up into the air, so i'm going to choose to ignore that one

and the 68% completion rate tells me he finally was starting to understand the system. next year i bet we cut the sacks and int's in half as the line improves and Ramsey learns to throw it away once in a while.

Also lets take into consideration that the offense was "scaled back" and this coming year the training wheels come off of the bike. Ramsey will be allowed to throw less WR screens and more 10-15 yd patterns. Ramsey now has some speed on the outside and a safety valve in Cooley. I'm excited about the prospect of our offense improving. Hey, they can't get much worse than last year, can they?

I liked what I saw in Ramsey's last five games, but he has to evolve with Gibbs' offensive scheme and develop timing with his receivers. Learning to read the field better is a must, too.

an improved OL would make all the difference in ramsey's game. he needs to be able to just control the offense, without feeling like he has to make every single play by himself. if the bags can open up holes for portis, this team will go far....

I'm just glad we signed Rabach. I'm sure Ramsey is too. Nothing is worse than having a center who can't block anything.

everyone knows the run opens up the pass, offensive lineman love run blocking, and 3rd and short is a lot easier to manage, especially when it could just as easily be a running play as a pass. a dominant offensive line is the key and we should have that now. we have a good group of young guys all the way across the line now, including the backups, and they should be able to stay together for the next few years.

All Joe Gibbs QB's go through an evolutionary process.

Young QB's like Ramsey are usually overwhelmed and intimidated at first, but they slowly learn that they only have to worry about their particular piece of the puzzle.

All Joe asks of QB's is that they be smart, take what they are given and do not make mistakes. In a perfect world Ramsey will have a supporting cast that does their jobs as well like a Center that does not get tossed back into the QB on a regular Basis and causes the rest of the line to be inconsistent. He may even get WR's that actually get open and hang on to the footballs that are thrown to them. He may even get two speed freak WR's (Patten & Moss) who teams have to respect.

On planet Gibbs everyone does their job and takes care of their piece of the pie so that no one person is overwhelmed and asked to carry the weight of the team.
